It's Sherlock Holmes Day / Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: Parfum d'Empire Corsica Furiosa. Tea at the moment is a Xiang Luo China Keemun from Upton.
Reminder: on 5/25 we're doing Oh the Places You’ll Go...wear a perfume with a place name. Suggested by Elisa.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Raynaud Verdures teapot, designed by Christian Tortu ("As in all his creations, Christian Tortu has taken his inspiration from the shapes and colours of nature. Leaves, stems and climbing plants decorate the white china, that has been elegantly finished with a gold rim.") is $509 at ArteDona.
Wearing a sample that arrived with the bottle of Tolu I am splitting with ta friend. Fumerie was fabulous sending several samples to try so today it is Orris Nior by OJ. It was the samples they sent me last time that tempted me to buy Tolu. Guess that plan is working! I am hoping it gets a bit warmer, not much sent currently but it is early and cool.
Happy Tuesday!!
Yesterday was a holiday in Canada, so I lounged about and tested this and that.
Today, I am in Mancera Sicily for this week’s project. Enjoying the heck out of the pineapple note.
What holiday was it in Canada?
We are planning our vacation this summer in Canada
It was Victoria Day
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Day
Where in Canada? It would be great if you visited Nova Scotia 🙂
We are going to Toronto (where my better half’s parents live) Quebec City and Montreal
I adore Quebec City and Montrea!
Pineapple? Need to try that one.
I have another ‘Corsica’ scent planned for this week.
But today I am continuing with Spanish theme – L’Occitane Labdanum de Seville. Lovely amber/benzoin/labdanum.
I wish L’Occitane would bring that series back, it was one of their best.
Ahmad English Breakfast tea
Alahiiine
Alahine and Encens Mythique both take me to faraway places
Inspired by BdJ bar soap blog post I ordered some handmade black seed soap. Does wonders for my sensitive skin
Yay! for Alahine. You smell wonderful!
Thanks..you basically picked my SOTD yesterday so it was easy breezy for me this morning..
????
Yay for Alahine!!
Somebody please tell me why I don’t own a FB of this???? (I would be interested in a split of this hint hint) I must find my last sample maybe this to cheer me up!
I am a soggy sloggly saturated sponge.
I adore spring, but even though my wisteria smells so beautiful right now, my peonies have been pummeled by all this rain. It’s so dreary again this afternoon.
You smell great! It’s a cooler day today here, so I should probably join you in wearing Alahine while I can.
you smell good..I smell good…
Lets take over the world!
Damn! I have a couple of important meetings in the next couple of hours, but we can start right after that 😉
Ok!
I pulled out the first sample I found in the stash on my desk with a place name: Shanghai Lily. This one always reminded me of the original version of Cartier Panthere.
You smell great- SL is definitely on my list for this week.
You smell extra great!
Robin, you smell AWESOME!!
I’m in Lubin Epidor, which, according to beautyhabit’s description, could certainly be a “place” –
“Epidor is a bucolic fragrance that evokes harvest time, a season of utmost importance for farmers in the French countryside a century ago”
So, I’m in the French countryside harvesting and only about a hundred years old today, thank you very much!
I’m on a thankful kick this week, so I’ll go public and say thank god my rosacea that flared up in a big way in Oregon has now calmed down. Boy, those red cheeks were no joke!!
You smell great.
Why thank you, and so do you! Glad your rosacea is better.
Hate that. Glad your rosacea is better. My right cheek is the sensitive one. Goes bright red and gets quite hot. Greek yogurt seems to be the biggest trigger.
Your scent sounds lovely. I’ll visit that place!
I’m in Cristalle EDP today and coveting that teapot! For anyone who’s wondering, Cristalle is a place – it’s Superman’s super-secret hideout at the South Pole. I’m just sure of it. 😉
Yes, sounds good to me
🙂
I am pretty sure also! ????
Haha!Only Perfume people,ooonly perfume people.Love your SOTD!
Too funny!
Ha! I wore Cristalle yesterday and wss trying to come up with a connection. Good one!
I’m wearing Dame Monsoon today for the first time.
I got a sample of that recently and really liked it!
I’m honoring India today in Bombay Bling. So cheerful!
Perfect!
I’m in Carthusia Mediterraneo for the morning. Will need to add something else later. Another gorgeous day in Seattle. And I have finally found a job–will start in June!
Congratulations!
Great news !!!!
Congrats on the new job!
congratulations!
Yay!!
Yay, happy for you!
Hopefully me, you, and J can get together again in June. I need to email you both.
Yes!
Congratulations on the job! I hope it’s fun and fulfilling. ????
Me 2!
Big congrats!
I am waiting for my offer to come…pins and needles here.
Best of luck!!
????
Big Congrats!
Good Luck to you!
So glad for you Springpansy! Congratulations!
Yay you! Congratulations!
Congratulations!!! I hope you love it! Looking forward to hearing about it 🙂
Congratulations!
Congratulations! Does the new place allow perfumes?
Ha – I don’t know! But they will be worn anyway, VERY subtly.
Congrats-enjoy your new job!
Congrats on the new job! Always exciting. 🙂
Congratulations!!
Thanks all! It felt like a long search. And now I’m already working on how I can be there less during the summer. ; D
Well done!
Congratulations on your new job! You certainly smell great 🙂
Congratulations Springpansy!I hope the new job is AWESOME!!????????????????
Congrats!
Congratulations Spring Pansy, very happy for you!!
I am happy for you 🙂
Yay! Hope you can relax until the big day. 😉
Hurray for the new job! And for starting after the big holiday weekend! ????
So happy for you, spring pansy. Congratulations!
Mostly lurking here, but I just received the Tauer Magazine with a mini of the Les Années 25 this morning and have to share my enthusiasm for this 🙂 What a glorious scent! Lovely citrus at first, a little iris and caramel sandalwood later in a rich, powdery way. It feels both contemporary and oddly old fashioned at the same time. It is very, very hot here in Sweden today so this kind of fragrance really shouldn’t work, but it does. Wonderful!
I ordered the mini too! Beautiful scent.
Well drat then.
Ha!
Ooh I want to try this!
Thank you for the mini review! I ordered the mini with the mag yesterday morning, the moment I saw the email. Can’t wait to try it!
wow..now I am lemming
Iris and caramel…. sounds good to me!
Got to get this….
Sounds delicious!Iris and caramel…any resemblance with Guerlain Iris Ganache?
Well I made the mistake of blind ordering Dame’s soliflore Freesia, which I was really disappointed by… but was it really a mistake? because it cost like $8 and came with a sample of Cactus Orchid, which I looooove and am wearing today. It reminds me of being inside a greenhouse. Not to enable but they also included a sample of their face cream and I think it is the face cream I have been waiting for my entire life.
lemming alert! i’m in need of a new face cream, and I love the scent of greenhouses 🙂 what skin type do you have? what were you looking for in a face cream?
My skin is dry-to-medium and I basically look for as much moisture as possible. What makes this one stand out to me is the texture – it goes on in a way I would describe as intensely moisturizing but also just sheer enough to wear during the day without looking or feeling greasy. A very light jasmine smell. Ha I’ve spent like 10 minutes trying to describe this texture but also they sell it in tiny sizes for like $5 so you can give it a low-risk try.
thanks so much for this description, I think a trial size is in order!
It’s interesting that you get a light jasmine smell! It’s very much orange blossom to my nose. I wonder if he’s changed it since I got my mini, or if our noses are just very different.
I am not great at identifying florals, so it’s totally possible I just misjudged it.
Ooh I need to try the face cream! I’m always looking for something new.
Mine is sitting in my emergency car makeup bag- must get it out now, I haven’t opened it yet. He does a great orange blossom and narcissus in my view!!
A different perspective: I find the face cream to be waaaaay too heavy. It was too thick for me in the winter, and inconceivably thick for the summer. It does smell perfect, though–a pale orange blossom. I want all my body products to smell like that.
Interesting – I do like a cream that you can definitely feel for the first hour or so and then it sinks into your skin.
ok, good to know, I did order a sample – free shipping too which is very low risk if I don’t like it (but do hope I do).
Ditto. Too thick for my face and I don’t like scented face products either. I also get faint orange blossom. I use/d it on my arms.
Coin-op or anyone else who is interested: I got a Dame postcard that I can fill out for a friend to try a sample – and knowing Dame, I think you’ll receive more than one…in any case, if you are interested, let me know what scent you want to try and email me your address, and I’ll mail it off. elke dot schmeling attt gee mail
(perks up) Face cream? Greenhouse? and from Dame, which has such a reasonable pricing structure? (opens new browser tab)
You crack me up Mals!Lol.
I’ve been eyeing that cream for awhile. I’ve been living off free samples from Sephora. Lol
Ha! I do that too, lillyjo. They are especially nice for travel.
Seconding that lemming alert… always looking for moisturizers.
I’ve done that with Dame orders. Got one thing and actually liked a free sample better. Jeffrey knows what he’s doing by including those free samples, doesn’t he????? I’ve wondered about cactus orchid, now I definitely need to try it!
Regina, which face cream is it- I have a sample but not sure if there is more than one- I love cactus flower also!!
It’s called 5×5 and I think there is only the one.
I don’t have a lot of perfumes with place names, so I’m wearing Robert Piguet Visa today, since you might need a visa for travel. 🙂
Ha, perfect!
Love your idea! ????
And you might need your Visa!
Yes- perfect!
Perfection????You win today!????????????????
Witty!
Forgot about the place name thing, will dig around and see what I’ve got for the rest of the week. Today it’s Diptyque Oyedo for me.
You know Oyedo is Tokyo, right? Oyedo named for Edo which is now Tokyo.
Aha! I love Oyedo.
I didn’t know that, thanks!
This blog is not just for entertainment! My mother always stressed, “Read for edification!” Isn’t it interesting she was always reading bodice rippers?! ????
Hey, that’s edification, isn’t it??
Love the teapot & Sherlock. Anything British makes me re-live my all time favorite trip to London. Took me almost a lifetime to go across the pond, and it was worth it! If you like museums, nightlife, history, food & green spaces, please add to your bucket list. Oh, forgot the shopping! Bought a bottle of Stella on my trip & will wear it today to go with a gray, rainy day. It’s sort of on theme this week.
I am with you, I have a bit of nostalgia for all things British since I did my graduate school there..
Wearing office-friendly Jimmy Choo Illicit. Forgot about the soft, sexy dry down of this Anne Filpo creation. Ginger fizz mixed with rose and jasmine. Quickly settles into honeyed amber and sandalwood, almost like egyptian musk. Stays that way for the rest of the day. Good stuff.
Sounds lovely!
Started the day in Marc Jacobs Daisy, as I’m about to say farewell to it (hie thee to ebay, Daisy, I’ve outgrown you). Now that it’s fading — and THAT lasted all of two hours — I’ve added some Lubin Epidor next to it. They’re playing nicely together.
Added some new sale items to the blog, but am still in the process of adding pics.
Scent twins, Part Deux! ????
In YSL Paris for a morning sitting with my mother in the ER. (I should be in Paris instead). She fell very early this morning and hit her head badly. Hope nothing very serious has happened to her. The waiting is going to be long and overwhelming, as usual. Day which will be spent online and sitting on my hands that that does not lead to any unexpected and unnecessary purchase…
Take care everyone!
Oh no! I am sorry to hear this! Sending good thoughts your way!!
Oh Dear – I hope your Mother’s injury is not serious.
purchase away..you need some comfort during this stressful time!
Oh, goodness. Saying a prayer for you and your mom. Take care, M.
Yikes! Good thoughts being sent your way. I have had issues with dizziness and falling, so I know that it’s no joke.
Wishing your mom the best of health. And hey, sometimes those unnecessary purchases are actually necessary in disguise. Will be thinking of you
Oh dear. Keep us posted. Hope it’s not too long a wait and no serious issues. I’m also encouraging retail comfort!
Really sorry to hear that. I hope it’ll be not serious. Sending healing thoughts to your mom and wishing strength to you.
Hope your mom is OK….take care, both of you!
so sorry to hear this, I hope your Mom is OK!
I hope your mother will recover without any ill effects! Head injuries are so scary. My friend’s son fell off a trampoline on Saturday and spent the last 2 days in hospital with concussion. He’ll be fine, I hope your mom will be too!
Healing prayers for your mom. Be sure to spritz yourself with something nice when the crisis has passed.
Oh no, I hope she’s not seriously injured. Please let us know how everything turns out.
Oh dear. Fingers crossed!
Oh I hope she’s ok! Waiting in the ER is awful.
Hope your Mom is okay!!Sending love and hugs!❤️❤️
Oh no, hope it’s not serious <3 best wishes!
Oh, no! Hope everything checks out ok.
thinking of you and mom, hope you both are resting comfortably.
Oh! I had to do this same thing tging recently with my Dad and it is so nerve-wracking! Take care and hang in there. I hope your mum recovers well with nothing worse than my dad had (which was a serious concussion, and an agravation of hernia he had – but he made a full recovery.).
Oh no! Your poor mother. I hope that she heals quickly and completely.
Oh no!!! So sorry to hear this. I hope that your mom is OK, and that your wait was not a horribly long one.
Ouch. Sending healing thoughts to your mom!
I hope your Mom is ok. And that you didn’t have to wait too long in the ER.
I got some samples from Luckyscent yesterday and today am trying Promesse de l’Aube from MDCI Parfums. It’s lovely! Citrus and ylang ylang. Lemony goodness. Now I want to go find some lemon pound cake…
Yum! You smell great!
I am wearing Bond No 9 Chinatown today
You smell great!
SotD = Histoires d’Orangers
My happy place is an orange grove. 😀
Another pretty teapot this week! Christian Tortu is a name I did not know, google says he is a master florist. When I read his name I randomly recalled that tortu means cake in one of the European languages.
Oh, the places you’ll go . . . just remembered the book with that title. I adore Dr. Seuss’ books, I wonder if he liked perfume.
Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.
That’s a good one. I will have to dig out my sample and revisit.
Love Dr. Suess’ too! I think I had some of those books memorized. Now most are packed away in boxes in the basement. Books are something I have a hard time parting with.
I find it difficult to give up books too. When I konmari’d my house a few years ago I was able to contain them to one very long shelf.
Many books went to new homes, though I kept two boxes of children’s books (from my childhood and my kids’) stored out of sight. They may go eventually, but I couldn’t let go of Green Eggs and Ham.
I know his name only because he had a fragrance — a green fragrance that would match that teapot! I don’t think he makes it anymore but there is still a line of home fragrance (Aedes has it).
If I ever run into Aedes tester bottles I’ll look for the Tortu home fragrance, the notes sound very nice.
In keeping with the theme, wearing Seville a l’Aube. I wish the weather matched it, but it’s cold and wet today.
But you do smell great despite the rain!
Scent twins! It’s chilly and rainy here too but Seville l’Aube smells so lovely today.
You smell gorgeous!
No scent yet: will I test stuff today? or wear one thing? The eternal working-from-home debate: scent monogamy or reeking???
Second (and final) impromptu splitmeet call: I’m thinking of ordering a set of 4 sprays from Sylvaine Delacourte. Each spray is 7.5ml, and each one can be selected individually, and can be a different scent. Depending on what shipping costs turn out to be, each spray should turn out to be about $20. Anyone (in the US) want to join me? Ping me at emc dawt 7 1 1 7 in the land of gee-mayle.
That set is beautiful. I have 3 of them myself
Which ones did you get?
Dovana,Florentina, and Smeraldo.
Dame Earth Mother. A bit of a stretch, but technically the earth IS a place, right? I get just the right amount of patchouli from this one. Good lasting power on my skin too. His edt’s and soliflores are pretty fleeting on me.
I got my first pedicure of the season last Friday in my go to summer color: I’m Not Really a Waitress. Lol. I gotta hand it to OPI for having the funnest names in nail color. Despite the cool temp today, these toes will NOT be covered up!
Aren’t pedicures the best..
I got my first pedicure in April and this is my toe color http://jinsoon.com/farouche/
That color and cherry berry from the same line are my go to.
very pretty color!
Ooh, I love that! The cherry berry is similar to my go to. I love bright/bold colors for my toes.
And yes, they are the best! I don’t ever plan to paint my toes again in life. Lol.
I love OPI’s names also. Good for a chuckle sometimes and the colors are so pretty.
The Waitress scent is my go to pedi colour too
We’ve got great taste hannahmom.????
I wore I’m Not Really a Waitress exclusively for several years. It’s almost perfect (for me, I like a little more brown in my red and there is a teeny bit of pink/blue in it). I’ve switched to darker colors and now crazy colors, because my daughters find it funny. I’ve got a super bright turquoise OPI on right now. Can’t believe I forgot to check the crazy name!
Your choice is perfect: both in perfume and nail color! I have just added a pedicure to my list of things to do today!
Thanks! Enjoy your pedicure!
I love I’m Not Really A Waitress. It’s of my favorite OPI colors.
Earth Mother and a pedicure sound like a winning combo to me!
Good morning Y’all…..
Wearing Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere…..nothing beats it some days!
Elegant and fresh!
Lovely and I agree!
SOTD Hermes Vanille Galante
left the house scentless, so found this sample in my purse. to me, began with a burst of gardenia, and settled into clove (I sometimes smell clove where there is supposed to be jasmine). very surprised this is a white floral! Have not looked it up tho – going to do so now…
I think that one is misnamed, and people get a lot of different things out of it. Smells like a salty banana to me (Robin mentions both of those in her review, so I’m not too crazy!).
interesting! i think people get banana with jasmine sometimes, so maybe what smells like banana to some smells like clove to me – do you get banana from Alien?
I think banana and clove are related – yeasts in Belgian beers remind me of both of those sometimes.
It’s been a while since I smelled Alien – that one seemed mostly jasmine-y to me, I think.
I get a little banana from Vanille Galante, that’s one of the reasons I love it. It reminds me of ylang-ylang and the pink jasmine flowers that smell a bit banana-y. Sometimes vanilla beans smell faintly of banana too.
You smell great. Vanille Galante is (one of) my true love(s). 😀
Hello, dear NSTers! Today I am resplendant in LADDM. I was initially intimidated by this week’s CP, then realized that I have way more than enough place name scents to last through the week.
For those of you who sent me kind wishes last week, my show on Saturday went well! It was a lot of fun, but I am thrilled it’s over, because work is still intense. I would take this opportunity to whine about how I had to get to work before 7:30 today, but I know a lot of you get to work even earlier, so the complaint doesn’t have the desired impact. I’ll just go find a bunch of grad students to complain to (“I don’t think mornings exist before 9”).
Hope you are well, dear friends! I’ve missed reading through your SOTDs lately.
I sympathize a lot! I’m not a morning person at all. Yes, being an adult, I have to do something I don’t like from time to time, and if I had to, I would have rearranged my schedule to go to bed and to get up earlier. But given a choice, I don’t like early mornings (but I can function well at 10-12 PM, which helps with offshore teams).
Oh, and you smell great!
Happy Tuesday guys!
1) Fight fight fight: Benedict Cumberbatch is fun, but long live Jeremy Brett! FIGHT ME.
2) SOTD: Korres Jasmin shower gel, knock off Rodin oil in my hair and Molinard’s Jasmin. I smell very sweet, clean, rosy and jasmine-y.
3) Tried on an old bikini. Will need to do more than stretching and walking to look a bit sleek for summer, I think!
While I like Cumberbatch as an actor, I absolutely hate him in this role: Sherlock I grew up with wasn’t such jerk. Need to check my streaming services for those older British series.
Yes! BC is intriguing and has a great voice; ever since he dyed his hair for Sherlock he has gone on to great fame. But my fave will always be Jeremy Brett.
Johnny Lee Miller for me 🙂
Dark horse in the running! Lucy Liu as Joan Watson is one of the best female characters on TV! JLM has done such a excellent job but I think he has been overshadowed by his contemporary BC.
Ohhhh yessss.
yes, I’m on #teamjeremy
can’t help it, he’s from my time
I grew up watching him in the Granada series! That series really was pitch perfect!
*Putting up my dukes* ????
*sprays Aromatic Elixir at you* SMELL THE TRUTH.
Ha, impervious to AE, even in vast quantities!
I WILL FIGHT YOU. No one beats BC’s Sherlock. WAS THERE EVER A MORE DAMAGED MAN WHO COULD BE SAVED THROUGH MY LOVE?!
(I didn’t know that isn’t his natural hair color! What is?)
Anyway, Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes also always struck me as a buttface, so BC just lives up to that expectation for me.
OMG LOL! And that is why all the Cucumber fans are so gaga for him!
BC’s hair color is golden red, and in his early roles you will see him as a blond or redhead. Dyeing his hair for Sherlock really made him stand out!
SOTD Parfums Quartana Hemlock in a rash, rushed decision this morning. I have to be really in the mood for vanilla these days, but it’s working out nicely. The green notes and hint of vinyl keep it interesting.
How are the incense you bought a while back working out?
Thinking about buying some new ones now that one box is empty (almost)
I like them a lot. I’ve been burning Blood Countess the most. It’s really beautiful to me.
Sotd, Casmir. It’s a place, a song, a fabric, a beautiful oriental vanilla, a classic. Casmir is a community project all star!
Omg, how did I not remember Casmir?! One of my top ten (heck, who am I kidding, top TWO) perfumes of all time. Thank you lillyjo- now I know what I’m wearing tomorrow.????
You smell fabUlous!!
You smell FABULOUS. Casmir is all the things, and next to Boucheron my fave oriental/Vanilla scent.
I’ve really got to get my hands back on Boucheron
I can send you some to try. Let me know!
Thanks guys! I was going to save it for Friday, but today will be the coolest day weather wise.
I have never tried this one..put it on my to try list!
It is literally perfume math free. A true beauty in my opinion.
Yes, it is a gorgeous classic. It’s definitely a cold weather scent for me, though. Propers to you being able to wear it now.
I’m in Cierge de Lune today, trying to follow the weekly project. The moon is a place, right?
Whew. I’m just now recovering from the long weekend out of town to see the granddaughter. Two year olds are very, very BUSY.
You smell lovely!
yes they are! I just fished my hair comb out of the toilet thanks to my two year old…
Fighting a bad cold and wishing I was in the South of France, so I am wearing Fragonard’s Riviera Riviera. Lots of lemony mimosa, and surprisingly long lasting–at least on me. Time for more tea, with lemon of course!
Hope you feel better soon!
Hope you recover soon from such a bad cold.
I hope you feel better!
That sounds lovely (the scent, not the cold….)
Bleargh on the cold! I hope that you feel better ASAP!
Hello to all my NST scented friends! It’s been awhile. So much has been going on down here in Texas and now trying to close down this dreadful school year we have had. Anyway, I missed you guys, so I thought I would check in. My SOTD is Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder. We are in the heat of the season right now (reaching in the 90’s), so thought this scent was fitting. Have a great day everyone!
Hey you!
You smell great- what a perfect hot weather scent!
You smell pretty perfect!
One of my top favorite perfumes for summer. You smell fantastic!
Halllloooo!Glad you popped in,smelling pretty YUMMY!❤️❤️
You smell fantastic! It’s such a great hot-weather scent.
Good morning! I went looking for something to match the project and most things I had were too warm for the weather today. This isn’t a specific place, but more general – wearing Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranee. Wouldn’t mind being in a mediterranean garden right now!
I had that one on my mind too; need to find my sample! You smell nice, odonata9!
My favorite of the Jardins. You smell great!
My favourite of the Jardin series. You smell gorgeous 🙂
Thanks for the memory jog! I have a sample of that, I think!
SOTD is Royal Muska by M. Micallef. I’ve been in something of a royal wedding fever these past few days. Today’s perfume choice is entirely unintentional (and seemingly subconscious ????).
Also, I’m purging my perfume wardrobe of bottles that I love but just don’t wear enough (though if I’m honest, I think the SoCal climate might have something to do with it). Anyone interested in any of the following, hit me up at joanna dot coelho at geemayle dot com. I want these lovelies to go to good homes! 🙂
-L’Artisan Dzing! (100ml bottle, 2/3 full)
-Chanel Cuir de Russie EDT (30ml decant, about 1/3 full)
-Bvlgari Black (75 ml bottle, about 1/2 full)
Will include a few samples, too!
Good morning NST,
I’m not on theme yet for the week as I received Ciel d’opale yesterday (thanks to whoever suggested here to check out Facebook Fragrance friends to find scents for sale!) and I just had to wear it today. I love this scent, and so did an overenthusiastic boxer at the dog park this morning who kept launching itself at me to try to lick my face.
Why did Roxy the boxer like it? Perhaps because it smells so friendly.
I’m on point for the community project and the weather today! Angela’s review yesterday reminded me that I have my own Pd’E bottle, Azemour Les Orangers. Going outside to enjoy the sun and the 85F projected temp.
I just got that in a sample too and it’s FANTASTIC! Mulling over a fb purchase…
Perfect scent for 85 degrees!
I finally got my decant of JM’s Jasmine Sambac and Marigold. I was SO excited to try it, and . . . it’s okay. The jasmine is a bit bubble-gummy on me, which is an issue I often have with white florals. Now that I think about it, I often have a blah response to the scents I’m most excited about, and an enthusiastic response to things I never thought I’d like. Maybe I need to let fate pick my perfumes . . .
I think that’s just a case of the anticipation being greater than the reward. Plus there’s always something else calling our names. I never get bubble gum from jasmine, thank goodness. I hate bubble gum in every way possible.
In L’Artisan Traversee Du Bosphore, and smelling so sweet and happy!
Yum, I may end up in that later this week!!
I forgot how much I enjoy Alahine! What a great perfume!
Has anyone compared the original and the most recent version? I read some complaints about the reformulation but don’t remember who it was.
Someone on here did a comparison…
Winter is a town in Saskatchenwan established when the railroad was going in and my perfume is DEad of Winter ( probably in the centre of town, by the post office). And it’s cold here, too! Not US/ Canada cold but cold enough for me. A Place Called Winter by Patrick Gale is also a quite good novel.
Great link!
Wearing Hermes Citron Noir again. I can’t stop wearing it but i swore i will not buy anymore FB this year (must resist…)
I’m also wearing Pacific Rock Moss on another hand. This one is so weak and devolves into a extreme close up skin scent quickly (reminds me of a number of House of Matriarch fragrances). I almost forgot i sprayed it here. And its not exactly a memorable scent (same goes for the overall house imo)
Wow, the whole rest of the year??
I’m wearing Gallivant London, but sadly it’s not doing much for me. I don’t think the Gallivant line is for me after all, though I was so interested in them. I still need to wear Tel Aviv one more time before I write off the first four of their releases as not for me. I think my problem is that they use some strong synthetics that are grating on me.
That line didn’t work for me either. I don’t recall being bothered by the synthetics as much as finding them kind of thin and falling a bit flat, and also a bit generic.
Yes, a bit flat and generic is a good way to describe them. I think Istanbul bothered me the most with synthetic notes. Plus they all remind me of things I’ve smelled before but not as good. I’m glad to have been able to try them though.
Happy Tuesday everybody! I’m in Alexander McQueen Kingdom edp today, it’s still gorgeous.
Today I wore VC&A Bois d’Iris. It doesn’t have any location in its name but it definitely does take me on an imaginary trip to some abandoned beach with a single big trunk of driftwood.
That is one of my favorite Iris perfumes. You smell wonderful!✌????
Doesn’t bois mean woods or forest in French? I think that counts as a location!
Smelling fantastic Lucasai!
Good afternoon Good smelling people of NST!
What fun to read your comments and banter that happened through the day!
May this always be a happy place!!
SOTD was Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit. From the first batch of Ginger snaps, with extra vanilla added.Yummy.
Any layering suggestions with other JM’s?
SOTE is Acqua di Para Iris Nobile edt.Sunwarmed pollen from flowers in a meadow, still early morning with the fresh smell of grass and green.I love this scent.I love both I wore today. The at least take me to places,if not actual place names!
Happy Week all!

Johanob, did you finally set up your perfume room? Maybe I missed your updates about it.
Thanks for asking perfumelover!
Not yet!The room concept has changed into an apartment concept, after I decided on a much smaller place than I initially thought I would get.But life/work etc kept me crazy busy up untill now, there’s been no time to plan anything. My collection-woes of it all being too much also plays an enormous role in me not getting as far as actually getting to work on it.But we’ll get there!I’ll let you guys know as soon as the big plan starts to take shape!
Thank you! I know you will get there at some point. We will be waiting for the updates! ❤
Johanob, i just want to say how great it’s been to have you back. You are a part of making this place so great!????
Agree!
Thirding!
Agree as well!
I was in awe of the ‘perfume room plans’, in any magnitude. Glad it is still in the works for you. Life is always a work in progress.
Wearing Ella today. It’s getting close to the wedding –less than 2 weeks to go!–and my fiance and I applied for our marriage license yesterday! So happy and excited! Wore L’Heure Convoitee for that
Awesome!!We need details of your wedding okay?????????????????
wow wow congrats
Exciting!
Yay! Happy for you guys! And you smell lovely today.
Woo Hoo!!!
Woo hoo and I look forward to seeing the full wedding dress ensemble.
w00t w00t for the wedding! Have you picked out a perfume for the event yet? ????
Winter has arrived here with a vengeance! Yesterday was wet and windy, and last night we were kept awake for a while by the wind whistling around the windows. Today has started clear, which is much more pleasant for the walk to work. I’m thinking Chambre Noir, which is one of my winter favourites.
Thank you all for your kind comments about my health scare. A couple of you asked about symptoms, there’s not a lot to tell. I got an awful pain in my chest out of the blue, I felt a little breathless for a few minutes, and I knew there was something wrong. Having experienced SCAD doesn’t make me an expert, but my one piece of advice is not to ignore something that it seems might be heart-related, even if you have none of the risk factors.
Excellent advice! So glad you are doing well!
Thank you so much for the good advice. I have cardio myopothy, and even take medication, but I have trouble trusting my insticts, versus being stubborn. Somehow hearing this from you vs my little pamphlet makes a world of difference. Take good care of yourself.
I missed the news, but glad you’re ok now. Yes, good advice. The worst that could happen by getting checked out is it turns out to be nothing.
Glad to hear that you didn’t mess around when you felt something was wrong! ????
Thank you Gaynor — I would probably assume I had indigestion or something.
Rain’s back. Grumble. The weather folks said that my area received a month’s worth of rain in the past 10 days. Yuk. I’m worried that I might start getting webbed toes or something like that at this rate. ????
SOTD = ELdO’s Fils de Dieu… from the sample stash. Trying to decide if this is FB worthy while 1 oz bottles are still to be found.
Hang in there, the weather odds have to even out eventually.
I remember the year I moved to the tri-state area it rained every single Wednesday and Saturday for months on end. It was so strange, but it taught me to carry an umbrella every day no matter what.
And a wet spring is so beautifully green.
I am grumbling right along with you!
Quick sprays of Carnal Flower for me.
Looking forward to showering with the Orange Blossom soap I got at Cost Plus. I think it smells delicious. My sister smells corn tortillas, which is a different delicious. There are a lot of orange groves where she lives, and she says the same thing about their fragrance….
You smell wonderful.
Washington DC: when it rains, it really rains, huh?
Chypre 21 for a LONG day: 10 hour client workshop. Am I tired? Aye.
Do I want to take a long bath and douse myself with something glorious and listen to the rain? Aye, but instead: about to head out for client dinner. Please send more coffee.
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️!
thanks. I think that’s about accurate for the amount of coffee I drank!
DC is kind of notorious for its weather.
☕☕☕☕☕☕
Encens Mythique d’Orient for me today. Cold and damp autumn day here in Adelaide.
And we are cold and damp spring!
SOTD was Rahele. It’s not a place but it is supposed to be about travel.
Nice. I was hoping that Mohur was a place but it is a type of coin. My dad was an avid coin collector but I have not come across a mohur.
Well, maybe a coin collection could be considered a type of place? ????
Gorgeous teapot!
SOTD = L’AP Seville a l’aube
Orange, lavender, incense. No hanky panky was involved in the inspiration for wearing this perfume.
I am taking the day off tomorrow to indulge in the arts – the High Line and Whitney Museum. I’m pretty sure I’ll be within spitting distance of Kilian and Parfums de Marly so I may add a little bit of sniffing.
You have several twins today. Enjoy your day off!
Your planned day off sounds great! Should you find yourself sniffing, let us know what you find.
Enjoy your day off! (And yes, do the sniffing as well 🙂 ).
