It's the weekend, at last. We're celebrating with our same old lazy open thread. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you will probably buy while you're out shopping for gifts, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Happy Saturday all!
Still looking for a cola fragrance – does anyone have recommendations?
Brief reviews of my recently ordered Smell Bent samples of December, January and One:
I expected to love December which was billed as a cola scent plus favorite holiday smells. Unfortunately I get an overriding bitter incense note with some cinnamon and it’s not a love. I do, however, really like January which is exactly as their “nutshell” description says: sweet narcissus. Very nice! I did completely fall for One (created for their first anniversary) which they say smells like old books and chai and I have to agree. The official notes are cardamom, dark vanilla, dry woods and musk – perfect for our cold weather.
If anyone is interested in December or the freebie I received (Gimmel a Break = honey, patch and animalic musk), you can contact me via my screen name and I’ll be happy to pass them on.
I can’t give you a cola fragrance per se, but I can tell you from all my years of mixing essential oils that ylang ylang and vetiver smells exactly like cola (that was not what I was going for at the time!). So a perfume with those two notes prominent may have the “cola” note you are looking for.
Hope this helps.
Rapp, is that sweet little kitty a new member of your household? I’m sure I missed a conversation somewhere when you switched gravatars. . .
Now I don’t even remember the conversation. Obviously something about cats and/or cat names. This one is Franklin Pierce, and he is NOT as sweet as he looks! He’s about 1/2 Siamese (yeah, the gray fooled me too!) and I’ve had him for eight (!) years now.
I have a black kitty with blue eyes (and attitude) that shows his Siamese heritage. That can be powerful influence! Well, he’s a cutie, in any case!
Your kitty sounds gorgeous and adorable. I think the “attitude” comes with the Siamese territory. Pierce lost his “cat brother” last Feb. and did he shed a tear? No! He’s thrilled to be an only child.
Wow – never would have that of those two making a cola scent. Funny. And thanks.
There was some tokyomilk perfume that smelled exactly like cola to me….Arsenic? I’ll look it up.
I can see that. I had some Arsenic at one time. I like absinthe, anisey fragrances. Maybe they give a cola vibe.
I get cola from No. 22 EdT, but buried under the aldehydes and flowers. I’ve wondered if the parfum might have more cola.
Good call by Rappleyea, I can smell how ylang ylang + vetiver = cola. Now I’m wishing I had a cola fragrance, too. 🙂
Have you gone on Fragrantica and searched out coca cola on their ‘notes’ page? There seem to be quite a few perfumes listed from Donna Karan through to Dior and L’Artisan as well as an interesting snippet about Jean Claude Ellena making a cola scent from 4 ingredients.
No I haven’t! Off to Fragrantica! thx
I think SL’s Cuir Mauresque smells like a spicy cola – I don’t get leather from it at all!
My suggestions are Paris*LA by A Lab on Fire (great cola top notes, although they are fleeting) and Mon Numero 10 by L’Artisan, which on my skin was cola for hours.
Thanks! I have samples in my LS basket.
Bois des Iles smells like cola to me and Tania Sanchez alludes to it in her review.
Ha – you’re right. What I am really learning from all this is that I generally like the notes that help make a cola fragrance and many of the fragrances I like have that oriental touch! Funny that I never really recognized that before.
Now I’m wishing I had actual cola…
😀
Did you try AG Myrrhe Ardente? Some people smell cola in there.
I wanted to but can’t find that one anymore!
Are you in the US?
Yes, Colorado.
I’m a bit too busy to commit to sending a sample but I’ll be happy to in the Christmas break. I’ve sent a few samples successfully to the US from Europe.
That is really kind of you – but I’ll see if I can get a sample somewhere here so you don’t have to worry about it. I haven’t looked super hard yet – the cola thing just came about recently. 🙂
I’ll order one from Surrender to Chance. Thank you though!
That smells like root beer to me.
Tauer Incense Rose smells like cola to me.
I seem to remember a cola note in Poison, or maybe it was Hypnotic Poison?
I seem to recall reading Lolita Lempicka Sweet smells like cola (or was it Dr. Pepper?)
When I tried Lush’s Karma perfume in the spray version, I thought it smelled a LOT like cola. YMMV.
I really like One as well, and now I want to smell January.
Cola by Outremer is quite good. A fizzy coke with lime scent,as an edt it doesn’t have much longevity, though. But,for $20 at Smallflower.com,its a good cheep thrill to. ☺️Another cola/oriental type I have enjoyed is Youthdew by Este Lauder. Good silage and suuuper lasting power. I use it in the bath oil form, still rich and opulent without the punch in the face/clear the room power of the perfume. I use a glass eye dropper from the drug store to apply or add it to a bath, which makes it easier to control the dosage.
What a gorgeous picture you’ve chosen for our Lazy weekend poll this week, looks kind of magical and soothing at same time.
Today I attempted a layering experiment, putting buttery iris of Prada Purple Rain and refined leather of Atelier des Ors Cuir Sacree together.
I have to admit I’m happy with this fusion of scents, iris and leather complete each other nicely.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I’ll be writing my Christmas shopping guide for the next days, do chime in next week if anyone is interested.
If you can’t find the perfect iris leather, layering is the way to go!
I like Cuir Ottoman which combines iris and leather together but don’t mind experimenting sometimes
Cuir Ottoman is one of my very favorite scents.
I love the picture — looks like a bird more than a flower.
Yes, or like some pretty feather duster
I love it too. I studied it a bit to see if I could figure out what it was without reading the description. Nope and nope.
It just seems wrong: perfumes in that price category should be self-sufficient! 🙂 Ok, I’m joking – whatever rocks your boat 😉
No SOTD, yet, but I’ve been wearing a lot of Nostalgie lately, so it is a very likely winner. Not sure it would be polite to put it on pre-weightlifting, however, so maybe I’ll opt for Fico di Amalfi and switch over to a heavy hitter later? Such difficult times I live in. 😉
Groceries will take longer than usual today, as I took a collection from my students for me to buy groceries for the annual school food drive, and they were really generous! The school starts with food for families we serve, and if there’s extras, it goes to the food bank. This year it’s a “competition” between grade levels, and I decided to really talk it up that 7th grade should win. Looks like my kids have stepped up to the plate! Such fun!
What a great idea! I’m glad to know that the kids got into the spirit of things.
My students can really surprise me! The group that has most gotten into it is my super-squirrelly 5th period, which amazes me, since they don’t seem to have enough focus for science most days!
These are the kinds of “lessons” that stick with kids for life. Kudos. 🙂
I agree that it’s good for them. 🙂
That’s a fantastic reason to have to spend a long time shopping. Yay for the kiddos!
I’m really proud of them.
It gets very gray here in Houston this time of the year and I find it so depressing (even though it doesn’t get cold or snowy). I put up some Christmas lights and bought a couple of candles. One I really like is Aromatique Smell of the Tree. It comes in various sizes (and they also have sprays which I have not tried). I got just a small votive candle in a gold glass container and it burns very evenly and has a surprisingly extensive throw. I might go back and buy a bigger one now that I know how nice it is.
Greetings, fellow Houstonian! While I am recovering from surgery, I am staying at my parents. My mom saw how depressed I am since I can’t be out and about (and the dreary weather definitely isn’t helping) and dragged out the Christmas tree. (Everyone knows this is my favorite time of the year) So, maybe I will be able to stick an ornament or two on the tree.
I don’t know about you Calypso, but with the weather just now cooling down, it is only now starting to feel like the holidays.
Yes, put an ornament on the tree and get well very soon! Sending fragrant hugs!
Thanks, Springpansy!
We were in Houston for thanksgiving week and I found the weather to be fantastic. Perfect low 70s and cooler at night. We spent a big chunk of time outdoors because we could and it really was beautiful.
Does it change in Dec.?
We had unusually good weather for fall and most of November and Thanksgiving, but yes it just changed, and it’s rather common for it to just turn gray for December. Glad you enjoyed it though!
I’m testing samples this morning – Parfumerie Generale Indochine on one wrist and Naomi Goodsir Iris Cendre on the other. I must not have dabbed enough of either – so far, Iris Cendre smells vaguely like paper, and Indochine is nice but barely noticeable. For springpansy above, Indochine is giving a very faint cola note – might just be power of suggestion though. 😉 And Marjorie Rose, I dreamed last night that you were temping in my office – I was showing you how one of our databases works. You were very confident, and a quick learner. We need someone like that IRL – interesting that my subconscious chose you. 🙂
Ha! Well, I’ll take that as a compliment! 🙂
I admit sometimes when teaching wears me down, I imagine what I might do instead. . . nothing has really seemed worth the change, yet, though!
It was definitely meant as complimentary … but I would never suggest that someone who enjoys teaching stop doing it – the world needs more good teachers, not fewer!
Thanks. I’ve tried Indochine quite a while ago. May need to retry – I’m a big fan of PG in general.
Ha – found my Indochine review on MUA:
“My summary: Cadjmere opening, Praline de Santal drydown w/a hint of honey. Not a bad fragrance, just not one that caught my interest.”
Actually sounds pretty good to me now!
To me too – think I’ll go dab some more!
All of PG on me are very low projection – and I had exactly same experience with Indochine as you did. Love it for the few minutes I can detect it. Iris centre is powerhouse on me but I think you have to spray it
Commando today, headed to the mall for some sniffing.
Regarding my comments yesterday, it appears my sarcasm was misinterpreted. I too was very thin (and criticized) when younger, and if I thought yesterday’s photo was a true representation of the model’s body I wouldn’t have said anything. But given the angles and proportions I see I still believe it was altered (which I find offensive). My sincerest apologies to anyone who was upset by my comments.
I’ve made a point to do more mall sniffing lately. I realized I was spending less time sniffing and more time reading online and ordering samples by mail. It’s good to get out there and be overwhelmed once in a while.
My local Nordstrom had been redone and was unrecognizable. They completely opened up and refreshed the cosmetics and fragrance counters. Bright, airy, and not at all claustrophobic, unlike some stores that pack things into every square inch on the counters and even up into the air at times. (cough, Macy’s, cough, cough)
I totally got the sarcasm yesterday. The BV photo was beautiful, visually arresting, and pure fashion fantasy via photography. And that pout! Not to be taken seriously.
I was also a wee bitty thing as a youngster and teen. The wind threatened to blow me away at times. Now I have a bit more “gravitas”, and I feel that I’ve earned it over the years.
Enjoy your weekend!
Speaking of fantasy photographs and sloppiness, the inside back cover of the January 2017 issue of Consumer Reports featured an ad gaffe where the ad image showed a man with 6 fingers and two wedding bands.
Lol!
Weight is a sizeable(????) issue for many, women mainly. Kudos for the apology. I think I might go sniffing later, meself. Do report on your findings!
And for men sometimes!I’m ” skinny-fat” at the moment,and I hate it!(That little tummy I developed as soon as I hit 40 in June…wtf!!)
Welcome to the club. Lots of things change at 40 – none of them good.
Oh, I don’t know. I just turned 39, and unless things change dramatically over the next year, it’s looking like I’m gonna look and feel better at 40 than I did at 30. Life can be pretty good!
Johanob, I’d be happy any time to geek out about weight training to work on that physique. 😉 If I had started out skinny fat, instead of just fat, my progress would be a lot more visible!
Well, the trip was a bit of a bust, sniff-wise, what with lunch, hubby’s luggage shopping and getting waylaid at the Sisley counter. But I did find a route that avoids most of the traffic, so I’m going back for a Sisley facial (got skin care samples) and a sniffing do-over later this week. Unchaperoned.
Oh, bought 2 small Voluspa candles, Cinnamon, Ceylon & Copal, and Spruce Cuttings. Also an Antica Pharmacista diffuser in their Champagne scent. Candles are nice so far, don’t seem overwhelmingly strong like some.
Funny item at the register: MFK has a scented bubble blowing set of 5, each a different scent/color, $75. For the perfumista who has everything, I guess. 🙂
I was not upset by your comment but appreciate that you came and apologized since some people were bothered. Thanks Siciliana!
Hello from New Jersey! Here for my in-laws 60th anniversary. Beautiful view of Manhattan flying in the other night.
Currently sitting in a car dealership while hubby helps the folks get a new car. Been wafting lots of Chanel on this trip for strength. Box of eels last night for the big family dinner; 31RC today. Heading home tomorrow, yaaaaay
Sure wish I had time to go sniffing in NYC! So close and yet so far…
NYC is great for sniffing
Congratulations to your in-laws and kudos to you for accompanying everyone to the car dealership!! That is true selflessness. You should return on a separate occasion for sniffing Chanel and other delights with the NY perfumistas for a “reward” !
Landing at EWR at night (or during the day) is unforgettable. Congrats to your parents on their milestone anniversary.
Which car did you guys end up getting for them
4 hrs later, back at the dealership. (it’s my role to be the b*** wife who walks out)… Might have a car in an hour or so…
Lol! I have never had any trouble being a b**** at a car dealership. There’s something about having my time wasted by a bunch of people who want my money but don’t want to sell me what I want and can’t seem to do anything in a timely manner that brings out my less charming side very effectively. Sounds like you have a fairly easy role to play.
Congratulations to your in-laws!
Waves from Brooklyn! Wish you could come out, but congrats on their 60th! That’s a lotta years.
I’ll be making the trek to Jersey next weekend to see my nieces new baby (#6!).
Congrats to your in-laws on 60 years-wow! Incredibly impressive.
Nice scents chosen to celebrate!
I can relate, having just been through a family visit myself. It’s so frustrating to be close to perfume nirvana and be under house arrest. Wishing you an uneventful trip home.
Sixty years — good for them!
Sixty years. Mr. Spicebomb and I would be in our late nineties! Something to work towards. 🙂
60 years is great. My parents will be celebrating their 50 year anniversary in February. Their patience and respect for each other have always inspired me. (As has their shared love of fine wine and stinky cheeses.).
Guerlain Mon Precieux Nectar
Debating on going to see the tree at Rockerfeller today
Beautiful NYC fall day and I think my perfume matches
Oh, I always wanted to visit there. I bet its beautiful there this time of year!
You are a brave woman. I love the tree, but the crowds! I keep saying I need to just get up early to get over there. It really is lovely, and the Saks windows and projections are also great….
I think you should go. I love NYC during Christmas, that tree , the atmosphere, the stores , I always want to go back each year.
The tree is up! Just found this out Thursday night. I really enjoying going to see it and even don’t mind the crowds. It’s all part of the festive nature of this time of year.
Anthropology is right there as well and that is such a gorgeous shop to visit at Christmas.
House twins! I wore Angelique Noire. Mid-day mid-week is the way to go 🙂
I love the color combo in today’s photo!
SOTD is Amber Flush Body Oil topped of with 3 blasts of Cuir de Russie.
Thank god for days off. That’s all I’m able to contribute today ????
I love that color combo too. Very soothing.
How is the body oil?
Wonderful! Highly recommend ????
That daisy photo has great colors. I was intrigued so I clicked through to the source (thanks for the link, Robin!) and fell down a rabbit hole of beautiful photos.
Yes — flickr can be an amazing time drain!
Epice Marine courtesy of Henry the vacuum cleaner. Suddenly, the 100ml bottle begins to make sense.
Henry, ha ha! My red vacuum is nick-named Rosie. So glad your Epice Marine survived, although if it had leaked Henry would have smelled fabulous for ages.
Happy Saturday, Everyone!
My SOTD is Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone.
Had my full knee replacement surgery two weeks ago, and I am going crazy just sitting here. A little depressed because I feel so helpless. Normally around this time I am all in the Christmas spirit shopping, meeting up with friends, decorating, etc…
Can’t do any of that this season because I can’t drive and be on my feet for too long. This sucks 🙁
Yes, it does suck! But only temporarily. Soon you will be hopping, skipping, and jumping. WITHOUT PAIN!! ????
🙂 Hopefully. I can’t wait.
I tried Wood Sage & Sea Salt for the first time a few weeks ago. I liked it on paper and will go back for another spritz soon. I left the blotter on my desk and when I sat down to work the next day I couldn’t believe how wonderful the air in the room smelled.
And ugh, hang in there! I feel a little bit of your frustration. I had much less invasive surgery last spring I spent three weeks doing almost nothing but the necessities then falling asleep on the couch for spontaneous naps. Though I was tired I forced myself to call people on the phone and invited them to come to my house to entertain me. 🙂
Thanks! And yes, my friends have been over to visit. But, since I am recovering at my parents house, its not the same. My friends feel uncomfortable coming by and my parents feel uncomfortable having all these people over. (They don’t say anything though because they want me to be happy).
I just can’t wait to get my life back and have some sense of normalcy.
I hope your recovery is proceeding well. Two weeks post op is a drop in the hat for knee replacement surgery. It’s a good time to play with your perfume, binge watch everything you’ve missed, read, etc. I hope your friends and family will pick up the slack for you for providing some holiday cheer. I don’t think there is ever a really good time of year for any of these things, and then other ” stuff” happens anyway. It can definitely be a frustrating time. I’m finally feeling more human after back surgery in September and it was a simpler procedure.
You smell really good!!
Thanks! This is my second time around on this surgery. I had a full knee replacement on my right knee 2 years ago in April. I had a set-back with that and spent the whole summer recovering. So, you’re right, there never is an “ideal” time. I haven’t had an opportunity to get anyone Christmas gifts, so more than likely, everyone will get gift cards. 🙁
But I am watching the heck out of Netflix, reading, and of course going through my perfumes.
Oh! Tough timing on the knee replacement. I’m sorry.
Pretty soon you will be up and about, so much better off with a newly functioning knee.
Thanks!
I hope you have a speedy recovery
Thank you!
I’m sorry that you’re immobile and frustrated now, but imagine how awesome next year’s Christmas season will be as you boogie around pain-free.
Lol! I hope so. Thanks for making me laugh. 🙂
Can’t wait to boogie again!
That is frustrating. Hope you get to plow through some good novels and spend indecent amounts of time cyber shopping. Someone on NST had purchased one of those steamer/humidifier lights that put aromatherapeutic scent in the air. No idea if it is therapeutic, but I have been enjoying mine now for a couple of days with lavender… the one I bought was about $14 on Amazon… just saying.
Thinking of you!
Oh, what a lovely idea. Thanks for telling me about it. Sounds like something I would really enjoy. Thanks for telling me about it. Appreciate it!
I’m very sorry you’re feeling down but hopefully everything will be better by the holiday, and will be improving further from that point. As to the gifts for family, you should be much better off buying those online: choices in B&M stores nowadays – that is what’s depressing! 😉 Online, especially if you have time now, you can find much better gifts, with better prices, free shipping and time to spare if you need to return something you don’t like when you see it.
No SOTD yet but will wear something X-masy later as will be getting a tree today
Ours is on the way too! It will have to sit in a bucket on the front porch for a couple days though.
The entrance to Costco smelled so good with the smell of fresh pine trees.
Is there a perfume with that exact scent?
Jo Malone has a Pine & Eucalyptus candle that smells just like that. I know I’m a JM freak, but I’m just saying(lol)!
I would like to know as well!
Thymes Fir is my favourite.
Today I’m wearing ‘Dior Homme Parfum’ and contemplating getting ‘Interlude Man’ by Amouage.
Both wonderful choices! I am sampling Dior Homme Intense today. It is a bit sweeter than the original but not terribly different.
SOTD is Stash. I ordered my shampoo in the mega pump from Ulta and received lots of free extras. It’s a very wearable woody patchouli fragrance with a hint of smoke. I was going to wear Le Labo Vetiver 46, that Nozknoz and I discovered yesterday at Nordies at Tysons. The incense, smoke, and cedar are exponentially magnified compared to Stash but the spices and amber give it a less charred character than other smoky scents. I’m definitely planning to “spill” a little on the boys when they visit on my quest to anoint them into the fragrance world 😉 .
We had a fun shopping and perfume mini meet- up at Tysons and there was so much to sniff, that we never made it to the mall with Neiman Marcus because of olfactory and general mall sensory fatigue.
Jealous that you got to go sniffing with nozknoz! One day….
I got my Stash gift set 2 weeks ago and I have yet to open it. I placed another Ulta order and it is taking its sweet time to get here.
I tried mine, both the perfume and the lotion… both the DH and I enjoyed it.
I need to get to NYC for a Sniffa someday!
We had fun, thanks again, Wendysue! That Vetiver will be great on the guys, too.
SotD = Ambre Narguile, day 5.
Delightful, delicious, de-lovely.
Oh, I’m so glad to find another AN lover! You smell divine, and the world should be grateful to you for making it better!
Yum! Thanks for sharing – I may put some of this on myself.
A great holiday scent!
Sunny Sunday here., about to be pretty much wasted. I’m about to settle into writing feedback on a chapter of a doctorate that I really am not temperamentally suited to supervising. I hate it at every level, but it’s a responsibility I accepted and I have to see it through. This is the LAST CHAPTER (Yes!!!) of the complete draft, and it’s worth giving up Sunday to get the (adjective deleted) thing out of my life for a few weeks. So, enveloped in beautiful (and better-be-well-behaved) 19, I’m settling in to work. Golly, I smell gorgeous!
Hey, yesterday afternoon I tried two hefty sprays of Galop. How very, very pretty it is! And what amazing longevity: I could still smell it this morning! My only quibble is that it is rather too polite and softly spoken. I’d have liked a slightly more assertive personality, I think, something a bit rougher that spoke above a whisper, but I quite see that it wouldn’t fit the Hermes aesthetic. And it’s ludicrously expensive, of course, so I don’t think Donatella need worry about me. On the other hand, it was a real joy to sniff my wrist all afternoon and evening and even this morning. Hmmmm…. Enjoy your scented days everywhere, NST-ites!
Reading between the lines I think Donatella might have real cause for concern. Hmmmm….?
Noooo…..not all . That is, almost certainly not. No, definitely not at all. It’s just too expensive. Unreasonably expensive. Oh, OK, maybe, on a bad day with a following wind. But no. Just — no. Not until after Christmas, for sure, and possibly not then.
Oh dear. It’s really lovely, Kanuka. I kinda do want it (can you tell?) And I can do polite and ladylike sometimes, if I try hard.
I have to admit, Galop is beautiful, unique AND long lasting. That’s quite the trifecta.
I didn’t find it too ladylike– it has a slightly dirty, lived-in smell that kept it really interesting on my skin while still entirely work appropriate.
I just wish that the volume could be turned up on the mid and drydown.
Galop was entirely too well behaved for me. I might wish to be so ladylike but just can’t pull it off for long. ????
Agreeing with waterdragon and pixel: Galop is very pretty but entirely too ladylike.
At least it’s the last chapter – soon that stinker will be in your rear-view mirror.
Thanks for your description of Ambre Narguile yesterday. I will definitely try it the next time I am at the fancy shops. How on Earth did you find an optician who gives you Hermes samples??
It’s odd to think of, isn’t it? I think he asked me what my perfume was (Black Cashmere, I think) and then confessed somewhat shyly to his perfumista-hood. From then on, we talked more about perfume and what we were enjoying than we ever did about my needs for glasses (though we did manage to get them sorted too!) I gave him BC; he gave me AN; we exchanged opinions about all manner of delights. He’s overseas at the moment, and I miss him terribly when I go in there.
I spent Saturday – and will spend much of Sunday – doing the same as you, waterdragon, although for a student and project I like and am just rereading, so less painful. What was painful: the defense is Tu, with student flying in from out of town, planned months in advance. On Friday morning a member of the committee announced he couldn’t be there and another tried to force the entire thing to Monday. I slept late and woke up to a dozen emails, which I fairly quickly squashed. Who are these people? Ah right, my colleagues.
I’ve seen Galop at the discounters. Just saying . . . I’ve almost succumbed and perhaps will eventually.
You’re so lucky to have discounters in the States. We basically have two choices: buy, or not.
Finished the feedback yesterday at 4-that chapter took 14 hours of my time altogether, but it’s done! Finished! Over until I receive the second (and may it please every power everywhere) last draft in January. Sooooper!
We’re lucky/unluckyhere with arrangements for the viva because everything is organised around the availability of the overseas examiners. It’s so difficult to co-ordinate that once a time has been found for them to Skype in, no one at any level would dare try to change it. So far the hardest co-ordination I’ve had for a viva is with the examiners in New York, California and Scotland. They’d better be worth the trouble it’s caused!
Volutes today. Made a sample at Nordies. Feels just right for the weather.
Yes, it’s perfect this time of year.
I like Volutes and want to say that it smells great in hot weather also.
I’m only in remnants of last night’s Teint de Neige from a newly acquired sample. So far, I like it. I also sampled PdN Kiss Me Tender which is a little weird. Smells like bananas wrapped in hay.
Husband’s at work today, so I’m thinking of getting into trouble at Twisted Lily after some errands and chores. I’m looking to try Arbole Arbole and MCG Lankaran Forest. Any one try that MCG yet? I haven’t seen it mentioned yet.
Trouble!!lots and lots of trouble!
I didn’t do too much damage.
Dangerous. It sounds like your husband should work from home 😉 .
Have a great afternoon!!
Thanks! You too???? He wishes he could, too. Not to keep an eye on me, of course.
Do it!
How is your brother
He is home now and doing fine, thanks for asking. It was quite the scare for him and his family, but relieved it turned out ok in the end.
Teint de Neige is one of my favorite nighttime/bedtime fragrances. There’s something really soothing and calming about it, which makes me wonder if it’s a subconscious association with babies and powder? I just got a 15 ml bottle of it, and always appreciate when perfumes are available in that perfect size.
It is conforting. And where did you get the 15ml bottle?!?
They’re available on european sites – the LV site itself, FiF – and clarissa might have to step in here as she added my bottle to an order she was already placing, the name of which I do not recall.
I like to mention my appreciation of smaller bottles here as often as possible in hopes that those in the perfume world will take notice and make 15ml bottles the new standard. 30ml do seem to be more common these days, which is a step in the right direction! 😉
Thanks!I’ll check it out. FIF has high shipping costs, though. And 10-15ml is my ideal size.
Essenza Nobile has tbe 15ml but also has a ~$26 shipping cost, which is why people pool orders for free shipping. I think a small STC decant will suffice if I still want more when my sample is gone.
It was Essenza. I was getting a large order in so we ended up with free shippng
Twisted Lily is dangerous even in the comfort of one’s home :-). I’m curious about the MCG Lankaran Forest.
It can be but I’ve been pretty good about going there, rather than ordering from them online. And they got rid of MCG from the store!! Didn’t sell well. So sad. I guess I’ll have to order that sample at some point.
I went specifically with Vanilla Hinoki oil in mind since trying it again recently and really loving it. They were out of stock but they let me buy the mostly full tester at a nice discount and were generous, as usual, with samples: Slumberhouse Ore, and manuf samples of HdP 1899, Lumiere Blanche, and Helmut Lang edp. Not bad! And in Hajusuuri math, it adds up to free ????
LOL! I guess they have to make way for more lines!
What did you think of Arbole Arbole? It’s weird on me and even when I read the rave reviews, they go on about putty and I’m wondering, do I want to smell like that? But I got enough to give it a few more goes. The MCG seems nice, but I’ve only got a dabber and so can’t get a full sense of it.
I could only smell a faint patchouli for the first 10 minutes, then it morphed into a chewy patchouli, so I can see the putty thing. Overall, it reminded me of No 19 in its green, powdery phase. The whole thing seemed a little faint to me, though sometimes testing while sniffing other things overwhelms the sniffer. I should have taken a sample but I wasn’t really compelled enough to want more.
SOTD Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche. Ahhh this is so pretty.
I would love to receive recommendations on milky, creamy scents. Tea For Two is one of them, but I can’t stand the cinnamon/clove spicyness there. Is there anything out there that smells like warm milk, green tea latte or milky black tea..?
Maybe Safran Troublant? Milk pudding more than tea with milk but gorgeous.
We have a vanilla-infused milk on the shelves here called Mmmmilk, and I use it for hot chocolate or Twinings Vanilla tea.It reminds me of ELdO’s Fils de Dieu, that steamed rice+coconut combo smells just like warm, sweet milk!
Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has a scent called Au Lait that smells like milk to me.
Philosophy Fresh Cream is one and I would even go for Zadig &Voltaire For Her, or Diesel Loverdose Tattoo.
Best milky scent I tried was the limited edition one from Jo Malone with her tea scents set. I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t fork over for it at the time.
I absolutely love that perfume! Thank you for the reminder – I should wear it today.
L’AP Vanille Absolument is milky.
Kenzo Amour for milky rice, Asian style. Also, Jacomo #8, which is like milky chai. Might be too spicy for you though (cardamom). And there’s always good ol’ Diesel Plus Plus.
Philosophy Fresh Cream. I only use the perfume but many here swear by the body lotion!
Even the shower gel is lovely, but the shower gel and the lotion together is great.
I must have gotten a bad batch of the shower gel because mine smelled like dishwater with remnants of milk..
I don’t think you had a bad batch. I love the Fresh Cream perfume and lotion(although, the body soufle is better) but I didn’t like the shower gel either.
I’ve tried a few Philosophy body washes and they’ve all had a weird plasticky smell to me.
There was Jo Malone Sweet Milk one of these days. Probably not available anymore?
Maybe Carner “Palo Santo”, although that also has a hint of spice?
Maybe try the original Bvlgari Omnia in the brown bottle? It is discontinued, but not difficult to find at the discounters.
It’s a nice warm saturday , I am happy there is no snow on the ground and I can wear my new fancy boots outside. I have two hours womens styling salsa class this afternoon, I am looking forward to that. I will wear Bois des Iles extrait layered with the edt.
Smelling good! What a fun afternoon planned.
How fun! I’ve thought about taking salsa.
Sounds like a great day, enjoy!
I’m wearing Shalimar…Mexique this morning before heading out to the annual Kershaw/Shun warehouse sale. My kitchen knives are awful (25 years old) and I’m hoping to find some bargains and upgrade.
Have fun. I just got a set of Shun knives at Costco and I am in love!!
In case you don’t find what you’re looking for–there’s a really great cutlery place on Hawthorne that does while-you-wait knife sharpening. If your old knives are good quality, you might be pleased with how they can have a new life.
I would recommend this as well, unless there are other issues besides dull blades. Well-crafted knives should last a lifetime, if not longer. That said, not all knife-sharpening services are created equal. My husband took ours to a place that ground about 1/4″ from each blade (!) and since then we’ve bought an electric sharpener and my H does them. Prior to that, I did it the old-fashioned way – by hand with a sharpening stone and water.
My old knives are, in the words of the person who looked at them when I brought them in to be sharpened, “Not worth sharpening. I’ll do it, but they won’t keep an edge and I would feel bad charging you.” How’s that for putting your customer first? I got a few good ones at the Shun sale–a chef’s, a filet, a paring knife, a set of steak knives, and, just for the hell of it, a machete-like thing that will be good for hacking up chicken and turkey carcasses as well as burglars, should one come by. Total spent=$75.
Sounds like you did your homework first. Glad you found something you can enjoy!
I wore Mexique last night. A winter favorite!
EnVoyage 7% Solution today
You smell great!!
Third day in Arbole. I love the way Hiram Green did patchouli in this fragrance. What are your favourite patchouli perfumes if you have any?
Patchouli Patch! And of course Portrait of a Lady…
It’s such an ” intellectual ” scent.
Nobile Patchouli , Coromandel ….
Voleur de Roses, PoaL and Coromandel.
I’m looking forward to trying Arbolé. Coromandel is my favourite, but I would be interested in hearing everyone else’s patch favourites.
Coromandel. I’ve been hearing that the EDP is less patch-y. If that’s true, then 🙁
PG Cozé.
SL Bornéo, Lush Karma and Lolita Lempicka.
Thanks for all your suggestions!
Second Bornéo, Cozé and Coromandel. Would add Mon Parfum Chéri par Camille and Noir Patchouli (Histoires de Parfums).
Just had brunch with a friend, now a bit of reading – The Book Thief, which is engrossing- and then starting to make some granola for Christmas gifts.
I heard the NY Botanical Garden train show is really fabulous this year. Anyone check it out?
I’m all cuddly and sweet in Orchidee Vanille.
I haven’t gone this year, but went last year. It was pretty cool, but very crowded. Not sure I want to deal with the crowds and line again, but I’d recommend it if you haven’t been.
I had a notion of making granola for folks this year. Do you package it in mason jars or some other manner?
I’m going to use holiday cellophane bags but many do use the jars.
The Book Thief was mesmerizing for me.
I made granola last year (2 kinds) and packaged them in Bormioli Rocco glass clamp jars, which the recipients could re-use once the granola was gone. I don’t know how excited people were about their gifts, but after searching high and low and back again for a good granola, I finally started making my own so I thought I’d share. The exercise made me realize why I can’t find granola I like (amongst other things, there are never enough goodies – I like it loaded with fruit, nuts, seeds.) No one would be willing to pay a price that would allow for any profit, since mine cost about $8-10 per batch.
Orchidee Vanille sounds yummy!
It’s so true! Between the maple syrup, nuts and dried fruit it’s a pricey little gift I’m cooking up.
Wholesale prices for all the ingredients should be much less expensive though. It’s the same as with baking: many cakes and cookies get prohibitively expensive if made from the grocery store individually packaged supplies.
But your recipients should be thankful for the gift!
Aramis 900,is the SOTD.Quite herbal and bracing up top,but settles nicely and eventually makes me smell “freshly scrubbed”,as in Radox showergel for Men(those who know the Radox brand will know!)Question for the gardeners:Is there a yellow variation of tomatoes I do not know about?I have a tomato plant, which flowered yellow, and the tomatoes are now turning from green to yellow(eventually red??Dunno!!)They’re very long in shape, and quite big!
Found the tomatoes,they are Pear Tomatoes!Who knew!!Lol!
They are delicious–quite sweet. My neighbor grew them one season but didn’t like them and gave them all to me. I love them.
They look so juicy!I’m not too fond of tomatoes in general, but these really look yummy.
If they’re little yellow pear tomatoes they should be less acidic than many of the red tomatoes and very juicy. They might also come up from seed for years to come if you leave a few on the bush to dry, depending on your climate. We have them every year and probably haven’t bought a plant for six years or so.
There are lots of varieties of yellow tomatoes. Enjoy!
Thanks!Looking out for when I can harvest.
My mother and grandmother used to make delicious tomato preserves from little yellow tomatoes (the size of cherry or grape tomatoes). There were whole cloves and cinnamon sticks involved, too.
Sounds awesome!!These are a liiiitle bit bigger than a cherry or a plum tomato…Lol.More like “genetically modified greenpepper” in size!????
Wearing Chypre Fatal and sampling Dior Homme Intense today. Both very nice scents. Heading out shortly for a leisurely walk down to the organic food co-op to get some veggies for supper. It is a lovely sunny day here.
Hum, I adore Dior Homme Intense. And Chypre Fatal has to be good, with such a name.
I need you guys to help me with a semi-disaster which I feel horrendous about.Earlier this year I was on a fbook group FFF,where I made a swap for my vintage Mitsouko, for a pristine bottle of San Francisco Rose. They lady mailed hers promptly from the US to me,and I had some issues at the Post Office.I asked a friend who went to a congress in Oct to pleeeeeaaase!! Mail it for me from there, and so she did!Something was wrong on Sandi’s adress I gave, and the package is now either in New York at a hotel with other “left and forgotten ones!!Or return to sender.I had a good bond with Sandi Phillippen, and I sooooo want her to get the vintage Mitzie!Lost all contact with her from mails and stuff.I accidentally swap-lifted her and I feel horrible!!!Help!!Solutions please!!
Ugh. So sorry. Is the return address yours or a US address? Not sure they’ll ship it back to SA if it was mailed in the US. I guess I would message her and work out a payment for the bottle you got from her. I’m sure she knows as we do that you’re a good egg and these things happen. It does suck, though.
Return adress is mine, said the friend who mailed it,so maybe it finds its way back to me.
Oh my, I feel for you on this. She knows how to find you so maybe you’ll hear from her eventually and can figure something out.
I hope so.Wonderful technology had my ipad crash and lost all email contacts…and mail. And who does backups these days?Lol.Still,I hope she does contact me.I don’t want to return to FFF on facebook, something is just off about that group. And everybody loves Aventus there.Lol.
I’m sorry, you clearly wrote here to hear support “you did nothing wrong, poor you”, but it doesn’t look right to me. How exactly did you loose your e-mail with the iPad crash? Aren’t iPads just connected to your web-based accounts? Anyway, whether you like the FFF group, or not (are you sure you’re naming the right group? I’m not the most regular visitor there, but with a more prominent female presence in it, I haven’t noticed much inclination towards Aventus), it’s not a laughing matter: you got the other party’s swap item, didn’t deliver yours, and disappeared from the place, where you arranged the split. Not nice. You, not her, should restore the contact and figure out how to right the wrong.
Can’t you send her a message thru Facebook Messenger since you know her name and that’s where you contacted her? That’s what I would do if you don’t have her email address.
Kenzo Kashaya. Can’t get enough, it’s cozy and golden, while the weather here has been rainy and gray. Eagerly waiting for my bottle of Shalimar Cologne.
Hi everyone!
We’re buying a house (!!!) so I’m having a good clear out and I have two mystery sample grab bags to give away. One is more for a beginner perfumista, the other, a little less beginner if that makes sense. I would be happy to send them to the first people to claim them, so comment bellow and write me at vanessa dot b dot laperriere atgmaildotcom if you are interested (don’t forget to mention which bag you’d like) and you live in Canada or CONUS.
Cheers!
Congratulations for the new house
Hi Vanie!
Big congrats on the house. May you have many happy years there 🙂
If the ‘non-beginner’ grab bag is still available, i’d like to throw my name in the hat. There are a few NST pals around these parts I could share with, too.
Gosh, I don’t follow instructions very well….I’m in Canada ????????
Very exciting! Hope it all goes smoothly.
Congrats on your new house!
Félicitations pour la maison!
Merci beaucoup!
The grab bags are gone!
Thanks guys for the congrats. I’m very excited, but quite nervous too. The process has occupied my mind pretty much non stop for the last month, and it’s been more work than I thought to juggle everything at the same time, but we are very happy. I’ve been out of touch a bit with perfume though; pretty much only wearing my FB, with not enough focus left in me to properly test anything new. I’m sure it’ll come back!
Incredibly exciting. Big congratulations!
Congratulations on your (soon to be) new home!
I’m in Tobacco Vanille today – I noticed my decant is evaporating and I decided not to share too much with the angels.
Enjoy it while you can! Gosh I’ve lost a lot of decants.
I am in SSS Equestrian from a sample. I really like this as an everyday scent, something I think I can easily wear around my preschoolers at work. Send hubby the website link so maybe he’ll surprise me.
Such a frustrating day at work, a mandatory voluntary thing that stretched from the scheduled 2 hours to 7 hours, most of which was just waiting for a decision to be made. Ugh, torture!
Came home for a long hot shower and a good dousing in Moon Bloom. I feel better now. A little wine should finish the job.
What a sneaky way to not pay overtime or give compensatory time…I don’t even think that is legal.
Oh, they aren’t as bad as that….I get paid for the time. I’m just the type that prefers time to money!
oh good — I hear you on time is more valuable!
Sampling Patchouli EdT from Reminiscence. Holy moly!! This is NOT the well-behaved patch that is currently in fashion, that’s for sure…
Thanks for reminding me! I have a bottle of this, and now I know what I’ll be wearing tomorrow. And you’re right … it’s patchouli with a capital P.
Glad I could help! 🙂
Wearing Black Cashmere today, and just pulled a pan of gingerbread (cake, I mean — unless I add “cookies” to it,” “gingerbread” always means cake to me) out of the oven. Yum.
I second that “yum” from afar.
Oh, perfect scent matching!
Yum from the Netherlands. I was very lucky to find it on our local evilbay.
Wearing Aromatics Elixir, cooking homemade chili and cornbread, and going on an all-out OCD Pinterest sorting spree. There is no end to how minutely curated & categorized & captioned my pins must be. The world can go to hell in every direction, but my boards will be perfect or bust.
Ha! I’ve been using Pinterest recently for some fashion inspiration. I’m really struggling with outfit ideas these days. I keep trying to convince my husband what I really need is more close space. 🙂
Ooh, hit him with a pin board full of scrumptious closet images! When his mouth begins to water, he’s ready. ????
You smell gorgeous.
Thank you! I love this heavenly stuff.
Wearing Mitsouko today. Watching my basketball game on TV and trying to not fall into a food coma from the huge lunch I had. Some coffee might be necessary.
I hope your team was more successful than mine was! Our first loss of the season (college).
Where’s hajusuuri? Had the annual Nordstrom 10x points party Thurs night. Was personally restrained, but brought a friend who somehow has never gotten a Nordstrom acct, so she uses my card at this event. They did away with the pianist/grand piano, which was a shame. We were searching stacks of pants, looking for a HTF size for one of her sons, when another shopper came along & knocked my mostly full (2nd bottle!) of prosecco to the floor. Guess this is to be expected, but we quickly fled the mens’ dept.
Oh, and just before the Nordstrom thing I finally partook of the perfumista Kool-Aid and bought some Rose Jam shower gel @ Lush. For about 10 mins, I was the only customer in there and was showered with attention. Fortunately I’m fairly impervious to sales pressure, and the only other thing I got was the (also limited-ed) Bubbly shower gel, a refreshing tangerine scent.
Our party is next week but not sure I will go. I received an email saying you can pick your own 10 point day any time between now and Dec. 24 so I may do that instead.
I found out today when I picked up my stuff that fine jewelry added an extra 20% off of jewelry on sale! It applied to the ring that was on a fabulous discount already.
Here, here! Ours was last Sunday and although I signed up, I ended up not going. I had done pre-sales of La Mer, a necklace and a ring (a Charriol ring marked down from $450 to $85 and it matches my bracelets! So I could not pass it up). I’ll pick them up tomorrow. I still have my personal 10 points day and will need to consolidate any other purchases!
Ok looks like we have overlap on more than perfume 🙂 I love Charriol jewelry, which ring did you end up getting – and the price OMG!!
I used to love these Nordstrom events and was going there with my friend every year, but over years they got less and less interesting – first they got rid of food, then went out even desserts. Now it’s just another shopping trip but A LOT more crowded, and with much less attention from the personnel. I prefer to use my personal 10 points day. Especially this year, when the most convenient location decided to have it from 8 to 10 in the morning (!) on Sunday (!).
Oy! 8-10 on a Sunday morning – that is CRAZY!
Found a sample of Evening Edged in Gold under the bed and I’m enjoying it, although I don’t at present smell any leather.
My favorite comment of this weekend…Lol!!!!!I love how we perfumistas find joy in strange places…under the bed…inside Henry the vacuum cleaner…????????
SOTD = Guerlain Angelique Noire
It passed the perfume phobe sniff test but then again I only wore a measly 1.5 spritzes. Good stuff!
M. Micallef Day 2: Mon Parfum Gold. First sniff reminds me of a less bright Mon Precieux Nectar.
M. Micallef Day 3: Avant Garde. First sniff – spicy! and I like a lot! I looked up the notes…and no wonder — bergamot, grapefruit, cocoa bean tobacco, incense, Russian leather, Tonka bean and grey Amber.
Holiday Windows Report – late on this one as I saw these windows last week but did not mention.
Barneys: Love Peace Joy is the theme. Admittedly, I didn’t spend much time as I was on my way to catch a subway downtown. The only window that was familiar was the one with characters from South Park. The other windows were kitschy chic and the artwork above one of the entrances reminded me of Keith Haring’s style with bold black outlines and bright primary colors.
Bergdorf: I braved the area despite knowing that Trump Tower was nearby. The windows were intricately designed but required a PhD to absorb. The mannequins were the glitziest (as usual) and props with details so intricate I was creeped out by the one with birds and the one with apes And most scenes were very green or aqua-hued.
Tiffany’s – I got even closer to Trump Tower as much out of curiosity (did I need a secret password – nope, I got in from the 57th Street entrance) as I wanted to see the windows. The windows were tiny but beautifully arranged: a dessert for dinner tablescape with strategically placed jewelry, Rockefeller Center and the tree viewed from 5th Avenue, night-time view of NYC (my favorite!), Christmas tree trimmed with jewels.
Google “refinery29 NYC holiday 2016” to see pictures!
And if you’re still reading…has anyone tried and/or heard anything about the Ex-Nihilo Amber oil?
I heard about an amber perfume but not oil… where did you see it?
LuckyScent. It’s called “Sublime Essences Ambre Perfume Oil”. The price is aspirational, to say the least and I can’t think of any way to consider this free 😉
Yes, thank you for the holiday windows report…I am going on a bus trip to NYC for the day on Wednesday and your info was very helpful.
I am officially experiencing New Yorkenvy!
🙂
Nice report! I’ll head over next week and can’t wait! I really like to spend some time looking and too much work right now.
I did watch Miracle on 34th St tonight however 😉
Miracle on 34th Street – such a classic!
I liked the Saks windows the best (see my SOTD post yesterday).
Thanks for the holiday windows report, hajusuuri!
I find the one with the grasshoppers seriously creepy; the giant legs make it look as if she were being enveloped by a green cockroach. 🙁
I’m in Kelly Caleche today, and it was perfect for the crisp, cool, sunny day. I’ve gone a little bonkers over my new steamy aromatherapy thingy. I put zero stock in the therapy, but I love scenting my office this way. This afternoon I switched from lavender to ceder… My STC samples arrived and I will be joining others in testing Galop and Equestrian soon… but not now as I seem to be walking in a ceder forest with faint wafts of leather, rose, violet and something fruity (no fruit is listed in the notes of KC, but gosh darn it, I smell something vaguely fruity—like dried apricot?)
Kelly Caleche EDP was one of my earliest Hermes loves! I smell grapefruit up top.
I love Kelly Caleche… I perceive a fruit note as well.
Yesterday I saw Bulgari’s Le Gemme collection at Bloomingdales and brought home a card sprayed with Ashlemah, the amethyst. It’s really very pretty and reminded me of Prada Infusion d’Iris made warm and cuddly with musk. No wonder: both were created by the same perfumer, Daniela Andrier.
According to the notes, it has lavender, violet, and heliotrope in addition to iris, but I wouldn’t have detected these individual notes. If you like Infusion d’Iris or other Daniela Andrier perfumes, this line may be worth trying.
I can’t find a single review online. Was it the price (currently $155 for 1 oz or $310 for 3.4 oz at Bloomies), the odd bottles, lack of promotion, or general exhaustion?
https://nstperfume.com/2014/08/07/bvlgari-le-gemme-new-fragrances/

You Tube reviewer, Ami Loves Perfume, has the LE Gemme collection. The review isn’t extensive, it’s more of a haul video. Still it may be worth seeking out. Anyway, Ami has a massive and varied perfume collection and did seem to really enjoy many of these fragrances. The bottles are really something.
I agree, enjoy her reviews.
Those bottles are big, too, with their pedestal base! I’m having a hard time imagining the bedroom they would look good in; it would have to be something like the Modern Style house in Neko Atsume. 😉
The bottles are very weird.
Posting really late today due housework, grocery shopping, etc. After my shower, I slathered on Providence Perfume Amber Cream Oil, which I have recently fallen for, and topped off with a few squirts of LaLique Le Parfum. This is quickly becoming my favorite low budget perfume. I adore the bay note. Yum!
You smell delish! I’m wearing the sweater I wore Friday which is still nicely scented with the Lalique.
It really does hang around. ????
I was relieved to read that your brother’s diagnosis turned out to be something less extreme. ????????
Yes, he doesn’t have any blocked arteries which is a good thing, but they’re still not quite sure what is causing the abnormalities. More tests to be done. But thank you for checking back.
Yes, it lingered nicely and smelled like warm, honeyed flowers. It’s by no means a powerhouse but it seems to last fairly well.
SundaySOTD!smellbent Smoked Ambergris. This is a weird Breath of God-like smoky perfume, and the initial blast of bonfires was kinda unsettling. But OMG.Love again.More of this type of frags please!!
SOTD is Amber Flush Body Oil layered under Cuir de Lancôme. I think I may have to try the Rose oil as well because this Amber Flush is great stuff on its own and also plays nice with just about everything I’ve tried. I have read to Rose is not really Rosey, more vanilla rosey? I never tried since I’m a Rosephobe, but now thinking I may be missing out.
Hope everyone is having a fab weekend! You all smell great and just reading the comments makes me want to splurge on a bunch of samples!
Best of days to you all. I spent yesterday, a perfect golden day of early summer, sitting glaring at my computer screen, and didn’t even leave the apartment. Today I have – can I contain the excitement?-a two hour management team meeting. What a life, eh?
I’ve always wanted a horn for my car that would blare out, “You silly idiot! Did you get your license in a cornflake packet?” Now I want a perfume that says in perfectly modulated tones, “Dear colleague, this is not the playground. Try to act like a man of (insert age here).” Actually, that’s not true. I don’t want to say it politely because they wouldn’t even notice. I want a perfume that will say crossly, “Oh, grow up!” I have no idea what to wear. Femme, I suppose. Maybe Jubilation, although that’s wasted on them. Or perhaps a nice cooling cologne style. I love Narcisse Bleu, and I happen to be wearing a smokey blue shirt. Yes, that will do nicely. I smell cool and slightly interesting.
I was going to suggest Cristalle or Givenchy III,as they are my two “Don’t f$&k with me” perfumes.Lol.X
Management team meetings need an excessive testosterone antidote that can be sprinkled in the coffee.
Or just wear Antidote?(Viktor&Rolf,to be clear…lol)
I wonder if my colleagues in Health are looking for a new research project? I’d help fund it!
Someone should make a perfume called Contempt for just this kind of situation.
Fantastic! You should pitch it at the next Eau Faux competition. ;^)
Yes! and another called “Equivocal” for fact finding missions, one of which I have to undertake after mgt team…I know that the three parties are each expecting me to weigh in on their side (Ack!) andas it happens, I agree with none of these hapless souls.
Yeah, let me know when a Grow Up perfume is available and I will buy several, gallons of it. There is one person at work (in another country) in particular who needs to bathe in it. My exact words about him were “He’s acting like a schoolboy.”
I’m in slightly too much of Dame’s Gardenia soliflore perfume oil – it’s glorious. I really like the sort of swampy, humid suggestion this one gives. It’s not a dirty gardenia or anything, but it still suggests (at least in December!) something hot.
We’ve had a grey weekend. All I want to do is nap! But it’s about lunch time, so maybe my lunch will perk me up.
SOTD is Annick Goutal “Sables”. Yesterday I tried one of my new 4160 Tuesdays cheapies “The Buddhawood box”. I can’t decide between ‘interesting’ and ‘appalling’. The opening is plasticine and the dry down is an intense fruity – flowery thing.
Sad to see floods hitting Málaga city, and more selfishly hope they can clear it up for when we get there at month end.
Good Sunday to everyone (whatever each of you have left of it).
I’m still trying to get out of my robe, but once I persuade myself that the fridge won’t re-stock itself, I plan to wear Sweet Milk from Jo Malone (prompted by the discussion of milk perfumes in the thread above).
Very busy few days running around getting things done before the trip. Just in the nick of time, my black friday deal Sideris arrived from Twisted Lily. Oh I love it so much! Totally exceeded my expectations. It’s like walking through a pine forest and smelling the sunshine warmed pine needles, warm Earth, subtle campfire smoke and soft vanilla. So soothing and calming to wear. I got the 15ml bottle and thinking about bringing it to India. Not sure how that would work because it smells a little bit Christmassey.
Someone on another thread asked if I would be able to log into NST from India – I’m bringing a laptop and my friend is hooking me up with a wifi stick so I should be able to check in from time to time. Getting ready to leave tomorrow.
Safe travels and a good trip!
Have a great trip!
Thank you!
Have a wonderful trip, Sajini!
Have a great trip! Looking forward to hearing about it when you get to check in. And Sideris is fabulous!
Wearing a bit too much SL Arabie… hopefully it will wear off soon or I may have to shower before bed.
