Happy World Animal Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I went with Hiram Green Dilettante. Tea at the moment is a Ceylon from Tea Bank Estate, via Upton.
Reminder: on 10/7 we're doing "At the movies" — name a favorite movie, and wear a perfume that fits the movie or a character in the movie.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Gama-Go Tea Infuser is $10 at Sur La Table.
Timbuktu, L’Artisan Parfumeur. I suppose this could be what Indiana Jones would smell like after a day investigating incense filled temples (of doom!)…
Do you not love it?
Oh, I absolutely love it. Dzongkha’s older brother! I love Indiana Jones too, though Temple of Doom is probably my least favourite of the films.
Oh good, wasn’t sure how to “read” your description, but I think it’s a perfect Indiana Jones scent too.
Perfect for that film! and one of my favorites I might add 😉
You smell soooooo good!!! 🙂
I spent years without having any particular opinion on Timbuktu and suddenly this autumn fell hard for it. And while I cannot immediately think of a film, I did wear it while reading The Timbuktu School for Nomads (the scent is much better than the book).
For a while I thought I didn’t need it because I already had Dzongkha, which I find quite similar. But sometimes nuances count, and I now wear and love them both.
Scent Twin here, Indy!
Tuesday and struggling to keep myself awake. I worked until 10pm last night (good 17 working hours) and back to the office today at 5am. Besides coffee, my always faithful companion, I am in Hermes L’Ambre des Marveilles to cheer up. A beautiful ambery, woody fragrance with an amazing citrusy opening note that I enjoy a lot for the time it lasts. This is such a beautiful fragrance but unfortunately is very fleeting on me. No more than 2 hours on skin and around 4 hours if I spray it on my clothes. However, I am always very pleased with it.
You smell fantastic, and good luck staying awake today.
Thanks Robin!
Have you ever layered it with another Amber? I have this one as well and do find it to be more of a “sheer” vs “heavy” Amber. Last week I layered it with L’eau D’Ambre Extreme and they went very well together…might give it more staying power.
I have not layered it with another amber yet. Your suggestion is great. I will definitely do it next time I wear L’ Ambre. Thanks!
Seventeen hours!! Hope today is better and that you get to rest soon.
Thanks ihadanidea. Unfortunately we were ready to submit 50% of a new school design last Friday, but after a long meeting between our director and the lead structural engineer and architect, they came up to the conclusion that the design of the auditorium needed to be revised and that caused tons of problems. We were given just one more week to finish and here we are trying to survive to meet the unnecessary stressful deadline. I am thinking that so much overtime and stress should be rewarded with some perfume shopping. Debating with myself since I have been sitting on my hands lately….
You smell amazing – sorry to hear about the chaos at work. You definitely deserve a perfume reward after this crazy week!
Looking forward to it 😉
I need some advice, please. One of my co-workers received from her husband, as a birthday present, a bottle of L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube. She suggested him to buy it from the Tiger Lily website, since she has purchased from them before. However, her husband, who pays little to no attention to anything related to perfumery, mixed up the name of the store and got it from Lily Direct. I have never heard of this online store before and neither does her. The question now is if this is a trustable place to buy fragrances. She is concerned that it might be faked and has not opened the bottle yet in case she has to return it. Has anybody had any experience with this store before? Any comments will be really appreciate it.
this article from another perfume blog may help http://boisdejasmin.com/2015/08/is-it-safe-to-buy-perfume-from-online-discounters.html
I seriously doubt anyone is out there making fake bottles of such an obscure scent. Just getting the packaging right would be more expensive an undertaking than seems worth the bother.
Ditto this.
Ditto ditto.
I bought a bottle of Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil from them and it smelled exactly like my sample from a department store.
I’ve heard people on other forums report that Lilydirect is fine in terms of product authenticity. They’re similar to Fragrancenet etc.
I bought a 50ml bottle of Amouage Fate Woman from Liltly Direct and was quite happy with it. Shipping was super fast as well.
Lily even!
No worries, Lily Direct is reputable. 🙂
I’m using up the last of my Bond No. 9 “Broadway Nite” sample (its fun but I don’t feel any burning need to purchase more).
According to Wikipedia, “Broadway Nights” is “a 1927 American silent romantic drama film directed by Joseph C. Boyle and starring Lois Wilson and Sam Hardy”. That almost counts, right?
counts in my book
Happy World Animal Day!
Another Katharine character, but this time its Katharine Clifton paying homage to Amelia Earhart in her aviator style. The English Patient is one of my favorite films (and the book is good as well): its got romantic adultery (not condoning).
Katharine is never really understood (even in the book) and didn’t show any remorse in her affair with Almásy.
For Mrs. Clifton, to match her style and mystery: I am going to go with sandalwood: Samsara
Samsara is a good fit for Kip(the mysterious Indian lover). Loved that movie and, of course, you smell great.
Yes Kip!
He was a romantic too..remember the scene wear he lights Hanna’s way to his hut..and brings her to the church so she can see the frescos on the ceiling..
What would you pick for Mrs. Clifton?
Kristin Scott-Thomas looks more Chanel to me. Something more proper but still sensual like No 5 or Beige etc.
No 5 would go with the scene where she is dancing or rendezvous’ing with her desert explorer 🙂
I’d pick Vol de Nuit.
You smell fantastic. I have a decant here at work that I haven’t broken out since the spring, so you’ve inspired me to put some on.
Go for it Ihadanidea!
Chanel No.5 L’eau. I also spritzed a teacher at my school whose mom died when she (the teacher) was 18. Her mom had worn Chanel No.5. Tears sprung to her eyes and she said, “Not my mom, but… me? Love?” It felt like Chanel should use that as their marketing slogan. Clearly I had to give her the sample.
Clearly you had to give her the sample. What a touching story, and that was wonderful of you to do.
That is so sweet.
So touching.
I loved reading your post today.
What a lovely story.
Oh! What a wonderful moment. Scent memory is so powerful.
Very touching!
Wow – how lucky she was to have run into you when you had that sample! What a sweet story.
If I wear something from a sample, I try to bring it to school with me so she can try it too, since she is always interested and appreciative.
That’s very gracious of you. It also must be fun to have someone in your circle with the same interests.
I have always assumed that most of us fumies are people who developed an emotional connection with perfume at a young age, like your friend. It’s kind of you to share with her and your story is very touching.
What a lovely story!
Serge Lutens Louve. A nice and comforting almond scent, if a bit too sweet. I hope that I can offset it’s sweetness by wearing leather jacket and dark lipstick.
Nice choices and combinations. Louve is so good.
I am wearing Lubin l’Eau Neuve with a little oakmoss lotion underneath to chypre it up.
I am drinking some Lumbini Estate Ceylon tea from Upton.
Oakmoss lotion sounds so interesting! Can you tell us where you got it?
I make it with unscented Alba Botanica unscented body lotion and oakmoss absolute.
Thanks, good idea to make your own.
I’m wearing another Hiram Green, Moon Bloom, as part of “my tuberose week”.
Tea was Laos Wild Phongsali, since switched to coffee in an effort to keep awake.
I loved Moon Bloom-you smell fab
Hey cousin! And I had to resort to a large iced coffee yesterday myself.
You smell beautiful, of course. What did you wear yesterday, when I wasn’t here?
Satin Doll
Oh, and I started Tuberose week on Sunday with Beyond Love.
I take these themed weeks very seriously 😉
I was thinking of you yesterday. I went for a long walk in our botanic gardens and all the tulips were just beginning to open, and there were some beautiful dark, almost aubergine coloured ones …and first I thought Austenfan (Netherlands!) and the Austenfan (Satin Doll!).
What’s your favourite easy to find in a shop tuberose?
That’s a tricky one because all the tuberoses I’ve got are sort of niche.
I’m guessing that Satin Doll might be the most difficult to find but I don’t know. Tubéreuse Criminelle is a Bell Jar Lutens, and Goutal’s Tubéreuse is discontinued.
Fracas maybe? Although with Fracas I prefer the extrait and the edp is a lot easier to find.
I’m not being very helpful, am I?
I’m very flattered that tulips remind you of me, although my favourite bulb flowers are daffodils, which I’m kind of obsessed with.
And a walk in the botanical gardens sounds a great treat.
I have a sample of Satin Doll and agree it’s good. The annual daffodil show was held here at the weekend…over 500 entries and the winner was incredible.
the winning daffodil was an all-white Kurrewa
Not austenfan, but mine is L’Artisan Nuit de Tubéreuse.
I’m continuing on my amber way today with Amber Musk.
SOTD is Pulp by Byredo. I have drained my bottle and will miss this scent. Because I know Donatella is making a visit today, I was up tallying my damage this morning. Well, I won’t be purchasing anymore fragrances anytime soon. So, I will cherish this fruity, jammy goodness this fragrance offers.
You smell wonderful!
You smell fantastic. I love this scent, but my man absolutely adores it. He has a very nice collection going on, but as soon as he smells Pulp, it’s all he wants to wear 🙂
I am not used to your new Avatar. I noticed yesterday you said you had a new man and here I thought this entire time you were married. Well, he gets to be with someone who always smells good so I am sure you are a hit!
Lol! Yeah, I told Robin that one day I came on here and the avatar was different. I miss my old one. Not sure how it switched. I am divorced and have been for years. But, yes, I have a new guy in my life and I am smitten with him. He knows about my perfume obsession and he’s fine with it. He’s a keeper!

Now, which perfumes to take with me when we evacuate our east coast of Florida home? 🙁
Be safe!
Oh no! It’s that time of year, isn’t it. Glad to see you’ve got your priorities straight and adding it to the list of “must haves”
Be safe!
pack your vintage fragrances! 😉
Be Safe!!
Oh, gosh! I hope it’s not that bad. Stay safe and keep us posted!
Please stay safe!
Echoing the chorus here – please stay safe!
Oh, do stay safe…have not paid enough attention to the news yet this morning but hope you are doing what you need to do.
Eau d’Evacuation is not a scent anyone wants. I’ll be thinking of you.
I know your check list well! Hoping the storm peters out before it gets near you.
Where are you at on the east coast of Florida (I am in Miami)?
I will be packing our garage full of yard stuff tonight and organizing the hurricane shutters.
You too stay safe. Sending good wishes.
We’re in Melbourne. Yeah, the shutters go up tomorrow morning. Here’s hoping this stays east, monkeytoe!
I recommend taking perfumes you love, especially if they’re discontinued and I’d also go for strong (depending on the power and shower situation wherever you end up). Also, don’t forget to write down and have hard copies of phone numbers–I know I don’t memorize numbers anymore with them being in my cell phone
Please stay safe. Hope everything goes fine there.
Stay safe. You’ll be in my thoughts.
Ack, A and m, hang in there! Have been keeping my eye on this since last Thursday, as I have a cousin in Melbourne and am flying through Miami on Sunday mid-day, on my way to Curacao. Things did not go well overnight, track-wise, for the US! And poor, poor Haiti 🙁 Please take care of yourselves, we’re thinking of you.
Stay safe and fingers crossed there isn’t too much damage!
Be safe–from the hurricane, crazy drivers, etc.
J. Crew + Arquiste 57. I’ve been waiting half the year to wear this one again 🙂
I had that on as soon as the temps dropped enough. Such a great fall scent
Yes! You smell amazing. I was so glad when I could wear it again.
SOTD is my old friend Gucci Eau de Parfum (clear bottle, brown juice), and I smell wonderfully cosy. I wore Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme yesterday (after being ruthlessly enabled by hajusuuri), and it’s still true love.
LOL
We are having a warm, sunny day and I am wearing a pink blouse so I went with a light, rosy fragrance to match: Lubin Grisette.
Parfums Quartana Hemlock. I was trying to think if I could attach it to a film, but I’m not feeling particularly creative today. Anyway, I just love how this smells.
Hmm, hemlock sounds good.
I’m totally addicted to it.
There must be a murder mystery movie that uses hemlock. Poirot? Marple? Hmmmm . . .
I’m sure there is. Caesar? I’ll have to research later.
I thought of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, and Cleopatra but none were poisoned with hemlock.
Socrates was poisoned with Hemlock. I’ll try to stay away from poisoning a for the Friday challenge ????
Good thinking… ????
So, it’s autumn. I’m wearing Santal Massoia and smelling really nice. Actually, now that you mention it, it might be time to spray again.
Hee, hee, Jean-Claude Ellena strikes again.
Santal Massoia is fabulous!
It’s also really good for this weather, as is Vetiver Tonka.
That is one of a few Hermessences I don’t get on with – it reminds me of my grandmother’s bedroom in a William IV house in Dublin that is no longer in the family. This is not a bad memory in any way, but it doesn’t feel right as a scent for me to wear. :^)
That makes total sense. And it’s not like there aren’t other beautiful Hermessences to choose from.
Scentless today! (Sinus headache).
Smelly discovery: I had about 30 minutes to kill last night before a meeting, so I stopped by Belk to do a little sniffing. I had never smelled EL’s Knowing or Cinnabar before, so the poor sales gal had to really dig around for testers! Knowing is soooo good. Took about 2 hours before it settled in and smelled AMAZING! Mmmmmmm
I revisited the same scents the other day! Every time EL does their gwp, I try and talk myself into getting a small bottle of Knowing.
Knowing is such a lovely scent.
Hurray for World Animal Day. There was a skunk in my neighborhood last night. Perhaps he was on his way to the party.
SotD = Chanel No. 5 parfum, a tiny dab from my sample vial. I’d like to add a bottle of No. 5 parfum (or perhaps one of Les Excusifs) to my dressing table.
Does anyone have a story to share (good or bad, happy or sad) about purchasing Chanel extrait on-line or at a shop, in a new bottle or old, as a gift or a self-indulgence?
Have a terrific Tuesday, NST!
I have the “wardrobe” of the little bottles of Chanel from the 90’s, No5 is amazing in this set, the florals really stand out. Other then that, I don’t have any No5.
Oh, thank you for sharing! I love little bottles. I will be on the lookout for a Chanel set.
I bought the cute little 3 bottle set of mini extraits from Saks one year. The bottles are so cute. 🙂
Minis are so wonderful. With winter holiday shopping on the horizon, I will cross my fingers that there will be a Chanel set this year.
Quite cold today, so I’m wearing EL Amber&Ylang-Ylang! It’s coziness in a bottle 😀
hmmm..smells like autumn
it’s delicious <3
Delicious and comforting!!! YUM! I regret not purchasing a bottle last year while it was still possible to purchase at retail price.
Wearing Apple Brandy by Kilian and loving it soooo much. Too bad it is soooo expensive!
But it is sooooo good!
I have the day off today. I’m wearing Central Park West, hoping to bring the sun out.
Central Park West is so popular as a movie location, you’ve covered the theme for the week and more. 🙂
Today’s film is “Molière”, a French film about the life of the 17th century playwright from 2007 that I caught on Netflix over here. Many comic moments with some poignant parts as various characters learn more about themselves than they cared to know. Plus a bittersweet ending. SOTD to match is “Promenade a Versailles Pour Lui” by Parfums du Château de Versailles. (A slightly tenuous link because in the film there is only 1 scene in the gardens of Versailles; most of it is a flashback to some provincial chateau).
Top: orange, lime, mandarin orange and jasmine;
Mid: cyclamen, nutmeg, coriander, violet, sea notes and hyacinth;
Base: amber, patchouli, oakmoss, cedar and musk.
If you can’t get hold of it, don’t worry: you’re not missing much. It’s a floral cologne with little lasting power, a step up from Penhaligon’s offerings but to my nose nothing very memorable. :^)
I will put this film on my netflix list
I hope you can get it! We have noticed that the offer on Netflix changes from country to country. It did get a US release so not as obscure as all that. :^)
Wearing Samsara, which Sonia Braga might well wear in Aquarius – strongly recommend this Brazilian movie, it’s beautiful, great cinema, and an insightful glimpse of contemporary Brazil.
Hey Twin
We smell great!
I still remember the first Brazilian film I ever saw: Pixote. It seemed such a departure from other movies we saw in the early 80s. Stunned the audience.
SOTD Grand Soir. Is it Friday yet?
I just now read that the photo is a tea infused!! Adorable!!
Ohhhhhh… that explains it.
Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau is my scent of the day, and I am drinking a cup of black tea.
Skipping down to write–so missed any comments on Robin’s pick for a graphic today. Mine? Errrrrrrr… Robin? Que pasa? 😎
Gave up thinking of films and then matching perfumes to them. Instead I grabbed a perfume I felt like wearing and then tried to figure out a movie pairing. So this is a little weird (not unlike a flesh colored plastic cat with holes drilled into its stomach?)
I’m in Musc Tonkin (thank you Clarissa!) which felt right for this damp morning. Plus my mom brought me back a soft, white, woolen throw from Iceland that I have on our bed and it smells like sheep, in a good way (there is a good way) when you press your nose up to it. Perfect frag? Musc Tonkin of course. The movie that keeps popping into my mind with this fragrance is The Flying Scotsman, the 2006 flick about Graeme Obree. Melancholy, physical, and intimate–its the personal, human, story about someone extraordinary. Also, all the rainy scenes of the Scottish countryside and the damp, wooden row houses… MT is such an intimate scent, so that is the film I thought of.
Oh, absolutely, I got absolutely nowhere trying to think of films first, so instead looked at my samples to see what made me think of a film (or genre or whatever).
In case Robin is busy, it’s a tea infuser — suitable? to celebrate World Animal Day. She helpfully puts the info on the graphic at the end of the post introduction. I thought it pretty odd until I got to the end of her intro
Yes, sorry I’m late! I have been posting tea things on Tuesdays lately because I need themes or I run out of ideas. And it’s World Animal Day. So, animal + tea gets you a very odd looking silicone tea infuser, that is a very strange shade of orange. In case you need to know, there are also silicone tea infusers shaped like manatees or squirrels or humans or acorns, and there’s a very funny pug dog. And they are shaped like that so they can hang on the side of your cup.
Probably more than you wanted to know 🙂
Actually, this information is great. I was thinking (before I got to the bottom of your post) that it was an interesting pic for World Animal Day, combining an animal and a plastic head theme.
Was delighted to read it was an infuser.. I’ll be looking for them. 😀
I posted the link below for the “pug in a mug” — World Market. Amazon also has quite a few of them!
Vetiver Tonka
Lovely!
🙂
SOTD: Narciso EDP
I know it’s only Tue., but I’m so looking forward to the 3-day weekend coming up. Ready to crash after this week, and appreciate a little diversion from NST friends 😉
Off for another cup of coffee.
me too..I could use some extra help with my little ones from my hubby
SOTD: Attar Bazaar Tunisian Frankincense which I converted into a solid perfume by blending into a homemade mixture of beeswax, cocoa butter, and coconut oil. An old favorite, enjoyable in a new form.
you are my hero
Oh my goodness! ????
Wow!
It was fun to make & to wear!
‘Drool’ sounds wonderful!
And shockingly easy to do!
That sounds great!
I loved it– want to try putting it in a locket or old pendant watch case.
That’s such a cute tea infuser!
SOTD = Chanel 31 Rue Cambon
I had a 5:30 AM call. I chose 31RC using the eeny meeny miney moe method.
Twins! Smelling great.
I wore that yesterday..so elegant
Plus, check out pug in a mug:
http://www.worldmarket.com/category/dining-kitchen/coffee-tea.do?template=PLA&plfsku=505738&camp=ppc%3AGooglePLA%3Anone%3A96166700459custom4tabletop_kitchen&adpos=1o1&creative=50632188899&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CJTd5_bGws8CFYpehgodLo0Ivg
Twin–for part of the day! I put on 31RC this afternoon.
Costume National 21–a great fall scent.
Oh yum, it sure is.
I forgot, I have a big decant of that. I’ll have to dig it out and try it. (It’s not fall yet in Houston, we have 90 degrees forecast for tomorrow, but cooler weather is promised for the weekend.)
It was Coromandel in the morning from a sample , didn’t last long on me so I switched to Heure Exquise at work.
Those two are my favourite fragrances, and I plan to wear them more often this season.
Both great choices. I am looking forward to trying the Coromandel edp to see how it lasts.
Gosh, on me that lasts forever!
Sampling Tea for Two today. I am reeaally liking this one so far.
Love Tea for Two. You smell fantastic!
What a cute kittne tea infuser.
And I’m in Bel Ambre from Jacques Fath’s Essentials
Gris clair. It’s gorgeous, comforting and mellow.
Good morning, all. I’m trying out Chergui today — probably the last person here who’d never smelled this one! It’s maybe a bit bigger and sweeter than I was in the mood for today, but it’s very cozy.
Nope, I’m the last. I haven’t smelled it yet. There’s many perfumes mentioned here, I have yet to smell.
*joins the club*
Joining this club as well
Ooh, I’m a member too!
there are many SLs I have never tried either.
SOTD is Femininite du Bois, because perfumelover67 was wearing it and I remembered that I have a tiny bottle. The Serge Luten minis are so cute.
It’s been a long time since I posted – I had a weird curmudgeonly summer in which I didn’t want to wear any of my proper summer fragrances and just wanted cozy scents. However, I found that a dab of Tuscan Leather works great for me in the summer!
I’m glad it’s fall – love the weather and the fall perfumes! I love seeing what everyone is wearing, it is inspiring 🙂 I missed reading the scent of the day …
Welcome back!
Welcome back! I had a pretty curmudgeonly summer, too, but my discontent was targeting people, not perfume – so you’ve actually been quite virtuous!
I avoided my TL amm summer because of the heat but I need to try it dabbed.
hiya rose Pepper fom a weird curmudgeonly fellow traveler (waving ☺)!
That tea infuser is so cute! I have a dinosaur one that is kind of the same idea, but I don’t use it much.. (It’s a tea rex! Ha!)
I’m feeling kind of tired and out of sorts today, but I’m wearing Cuir d’Ange, so at least I smell good. I’m on my second cup of Scottish Breakfast tea so maybe it’ll be better once the caffeine kicks in. Hasn’t happened yet, so the answer is more tea.
Maybe you should use your Tea-Rex? The hit of caffeine might perk you up. We’ve had several days of gray weather here and it does become tiresome.
I have a mana-tea diffuser but I am really a coffee drinker, so I’m going to have to find some other use for it. It DOES make me smile.
So thrilled someone owns the mana tea!
Morning, all. I’m wearing plain everything today and it suits my plain mood. As always when life turns a bit mere, I found myself eyeing up my Chanel shelf, and then,of course, reached for Courreges Empreinte. “Logical” is my middle name…anyway, I smell greenly pleasant (or the other way around) and perfectly acceptable, though not at all splendiferous. I can’t think of a particular movie, but I do know this perfume would be worn by a supporting character: the best friend who yearns quietly for the hero and is ever disappointed, or the coffee-buddy who wears sensible shoes and melts quietly away when the real story begins.
I wanted to say Blow Up but it sounds more like Hannah and her Sisters? Too many days of grey skies.
Either or both. The perfume is really perfectly nice, just a little..dull. That sounds rather wounding, doesn’t it, to call something dull?
Probably should’ve worn my dilettante decant again, as it is so happy. But I thought I’d give my sample of le labo limette a spin, acquired last week when they had the city ones at Nordstrom’s. It’s doing a little of the happy heavy lifting this grey morning.
I am wearing Voyage by Hiram Green today. This is probably too literal but it makes me think of the movie Titanic. Perhaps the scent worn by Rose’s mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater.
Thanks Foxbins for hosting the split of this scent. Voyage has much better longevity when sprayed rather than dabbed.
Interesting…
I’ll have to check that one out 🙂
Voyage lasts a really long time on me, too, but I’ve never tried it dabbed. It was a pleasure hosting the split, thank you!
SOTD JM Nectarine and Honey. Feeling little bit better, and this is cheering me up – although it feels like it has lost its top notes
Do you guys notice hat JM goes bad pretty quickly? Or is it just me?
No, none of mine have gone bad, my oldest bottle is maybe 10 years old.
Today I am Warrent officer Ellen Ripley awakening from hypersleep and still faintly smelling of Thierry Mugler’s Alien that she sprayed on 57 years ago…
Ha! That’s awesome. I’m disappointed in myself that i didn’t think of this. Love Alien, movie and perfume.
🙂
You’re good at this!
Wearing Hiram Green Voyage today from the Splitmeet so graciously hosted by Foxbins…
I am enjoying it….even more so than Dilettante which I wore yesterday…two very different fragrances albeit. These are the first fragrances I’ve worn from this line and they remind me a bit of Tauer’s work…maybe due to use of natural stuff.
Hey Twin. You smell lovely today.
Thank you, it was a pleasure to host the split.
Scent twin with Robin today in Hiran Green Dilettante, as I finally got around to getting a sample. Really really pretty, and lasting longer than I thought it would. It’s the perfect orange blossom.
Hey twin! We smell fantastic.
Because it’s Donatella Day, I’m wearing Blonde in her honor. In the parfum, it stays pretty close to the skin. A gorgeous tuberose/gardenia and cheap at the discounters. For Friday, I took a look at the movies I liked enough to buy and there seems to be a nautical thread there, or perhaps travel is the broader theme. Thinking hard…
Am testing Narciso EDP Poudrée. I’ve been wanting a bottle of the original EDP for about a year but wanted to try the flanker first to see if it would go into the FB running. I bought a few mfr samples of Poudrée but in the time they took to get to me I found the EDP at a good price, so I pounced.
I’m glad I didn’t wait before deciding. I love Narciso EDP and EDT, but they seemed to have extracted the floral heart from Poudrée, and it wears flat on my skin. Maybe other people have had better experiences, but this is one I don’t love.
How does the EDT differ from the EDP? I have and love Narciso EDP but I’ve never tried the EDT (or the Poudrée).
I hope its OK to answer, since I am not the one being asked. I have and love the EDP. The edt is very similar, but doesn’t seem to have the depth or richness of the EDP. I really wanted them to be different enough to warrant having both, but they are not. I haven’t tried the poudree yet. Also, I believe Robin has a review for both the edt and EDP.
I would concur with lillyjo and add that the EDT is lighter and fresher. I’d also say it’s feminine and pretty where the EDP is womanly and sexy.
They are very, very similar but I find them different enough to warrant bottles of each: I bought the EDT to wear this summer since it’s well-suited to warm weather. I’ll wear the EDP from now until spring as I find it comforting in the cold.
*Also wanted both because I love the bottles and I now have black & white twins 🙂
Your talking me into the black bottle….
Thanks for the comparisons-I’ll have to try the EDT if I get the chance.
I am in warm and comforting TT Laudano Nero fighting mastitis 🙁
I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Bastet! I hope so too.
Get well soon!
Oh no, feel better soon!
Ouch! Feel better.
Thank you everyone for warm wishes!
Oh dear, hope it resolves soon!
Eau de Merveilles again. In retroperspective should have more something more spine stiftening today. Ah well tomorrow!
You smell wonderful. Eau des Merveilles might be my choice for Friday. There are so many movies set on or near the ocean.
Hey, y’all, well, today I found out a paper I’d submitted was accepted to a journal (a GOOD journal!) with no requests for revisions. Which is just about the best news you can get in my neck of the woods. So, I pretty much owe myself a bottle of my SOTD Tabac Tabou now, right?
I would say you owe yourself two bottles. Start cleaning up that “To Buy” list: you’ll never have a better reason!
Congrats! You definitely deserve treats!
Congratulations!
Wow! That’s really an accomplishment. Congrats, and rewards are most certainly in order!
Congratulations! You deserve to treat yourself!
Of course you do! Many congrats.
Congratulations on that excellent news! You definitely should treat yourself.
Started off in Byzance this morning, have switched to Ambre Narguilé for the evening. It was a beautiful fall day here in Montreal and it’s supposed to be warm all week. Yay!
Perfect!
I wish our Seattle fall weather was more like yours, but I’ll happily keep our mild winters 🙂 I was in Gatineau during the last 2 Octobers and the fall colors there were stunning!
OMG, that tea infuser is the cutest thing I have seen today.
Another dip into samples for the SOTD. I’m trying Jean Patou Chaldee. It reminds me of how Grownups used to smell on special occasions when I was knee-high to a grasshopper.
SOTD was Anaïs Anaïs (from a store tester), which I’d never worn before.
It’s mostly gone now, so I will go hunt down something to counteract my end-of-the-MLB-season blues. C’mon, Postseason, you gotta tide me over ’till 2017! …I think this calls for31RC…
Omg, I have the same blues! I didn’t know what to do with myself tonight, with no game to watch. Who is your team? I’m a tigers fan. It was a hard loss on Sunday. Sigh…..
My home team is the Diamondbacks. It was a rough season. Thankfully, I have several other teams I like (Giants, Cubs, Red Sox…), so I’ll be milking the postseason for all it’s worth!
SOTD for me is Amouage Honour Woman. I had to put it on very lightly because I was going to Pilates class and they don’t like you to wear fragrances there. Just a wee spray and a hand through the mist. Then when I got home later I drenched myself in it and I still smell Mah-ve-lous! It has a wonderful fresh apple quality to it that I find very cheerful and pretty. (Not sure what note that would be officially. But it’s good in ongoing heat here in Houston.)
I just re-checked the list of notes, and along with the white florals and spices, it lists RHUBARB. Not exactly how I experience the fruity note but must be the source of it–something a bit tangy and “fresh” (but not in an obnoxious way).
