It's Hump Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Fendi Furiosa.
Reminder: 9/30 will be Still Ticking Friday — wear the perfume in your collection that has been on the market longest (so the perfume with the earliest launch year, that is still in production — not necessarily your oldest bottle).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m in vintage Joy extrait de parfum. Tea is Early Grey Provence by MF. Both are truly great.
Oh, nobody will beat you today — you smell perfect.
It pretty much feels perfect.
Scent twin!
🙂
What tea are you drinking?
Earl Grey of course.
I don’t wear Joy very often, but every time I do, I realise how much I love it.
*comes in for a hug and a deep, deep breathing in*
Damn, but you smell marvelous.
Thank you!
Winner!
Absolutely!
Vintage Joy Extract is a bit hard to surpass.
And it cost next to nothing when I got it.
Lucky!!
Ebay 😉
Yay!!
Those both sound awesome!
And they both are. The tea has lavender in it, which is a great match with bergamot.
Went with Oud Fleur (Tom Ford) today. Weather is cooling off, love this time of year.
I would love this time of year if it did not mean winter was coming 🙂
Vanitas Profumum Roma.
Jam o’ the morn’, for a sweaty workout and loooonng indulgent vanilla sugar scrub in the shower- March Michael Penn.
What if I were Romeo in black jeans, what if I was Heathcliff, it’s no myth………..
😉
I love both a good scrub and that song????
Sounds like a wonderful morning!
Vanitas, lovely.
Love Vanitas, the perfect sugar cloud!
Thanks, Everyone ! 🙂
I’m in Zoologist Rhinoceros. Great scent for a rainy day and when I have to be solid and charge through the day. Like a Rhino
I really want to try the Zoologist fragrances. What do you think of them?
I’m very happy with my purchases this far. I love Panda and Rhinocerus and the 2016 formulation of Beaver. I was not a fan of Bat and on a super confident day I will throw on Hummingbird which is designated for women but I think I pull it off. Can’t wait for the new ones. Overall I love the concept of using items from the habitat of the animal. They have smaller travel sprays and samples if you want to dip your toe in. ????
I was prepared to hate Bat, but I like it!
I will try again. Hope it will grow on me.
Dentist appointment and cello lesson today, so in the soft skin scent that is 4160 Tuesday’s Dirty Honey.
Today I’m wearing MFK’s Petite Matin.
How do you like it? I ordered the discovery set and I am curious try Petit Matin and also Grand Soir.
How does it wear? I sniffed the sprayer yesterday and it seemed nice, as did Grand Soir, but I was out of skin and my poor Mom was out of skin and beginning to cringe away from me whenever I picked up a bottle (she was acting as a human blotter for me because she couldn’t smell anything).
How do find it? I liked it but found it pretty light/close to the skin…
I’m in Desert Rose today, since I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon. I try not to blow anyone out of the water with fragrance on these occasions, so a good rose perfume is what I generally wear.
I always forget how much I love the spicy drydown of Desert Rose.
In Guerlain L’Heur Bleue. I have a hate-love relationship with this perfume. There are days that it just doesn’t speak to me. I find it boring, sad, old fashion, not me at all. Those are the days when I think my bottle needs to go to another place. However, there are days like today when I find it heavenly, glorious, a scent to die for. Those changes really astonish me and I still wonder what the future of L’Heur Bleue will be…
I do love L’Heure Bleue and I find that a normal spray is just too much for me. I do have L’Heure Bleue in extrait form and find that dabbing works better for me. It’s supposed to be a joyous perfume, maybe in it’s time it was but now it’s more of meloncholy.
Donatella will hear all about how I splurged on the extrait. I find in this form, and gently dabbed, l’HB is amazing.
Hi Twin! I think I am wearing it in EdT. It is definitely in the melancholy realm for me, but I love it. There are days one wishes to wallow. I’m jealous of you extrait owners. It’s on my wishlist for sure.
I am also in the EdT. The extrait is also in my buy list. Maybe someday…
SOTD is Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla shower gel with Diptyque Eau Duelle perfume . Nice combination and good for the fall season.
OH! I bet the bathroom and house smelled wonderful when you were done!
It certainly smelled like vanilla.
Yum, that sounds lovely!
Outremer Oceanic Hotel Nice is my scent of the day. The artwork on the bottle has a vintage look to it that makes me smile. So does the scent — I enjoy the crisp green notes combined with the citrus notes. Uncomplicated and fun. Just what I need today.
Tea is French roast coffee
SOTD A few spray of box of eels
Still hot hot hot here
Box of eels! Delicious!
SHL 777 Rose de Petra today. Such a pretty rose.
Mmmm…you smell lovely today! Such a great scent!
Thanks Petunia!
SOTD is Jour d’Hermes. The grapefruit note seems especially fresh this morning for some reason – love it.
It’s a beauty!
I love Jour d’Hermes. You smell fantastic!
I’m in Misia today.
One of my favorites.
Amazing!
I’m so happy to have a full bottle of Misia now!
Me too!
Feeling quite awful because I effectively pushed my boss, who appears to have completely lost interest in my research right when I need him most, to say some pretty hurtful things to me. I was well aware he would say them–I know him–but I didn’t see any way to push him to do what I’ve needed him to do for a couple months now without getting him to hurt me in the process. Torn between just going home right now to curl up and cry and staying in lab to show him that he can’t make me go home and cry.
On the upside, I smell pretty spectacular in VCA Rose Velours.
I cannot wait to get out of here.
What an awful morning – definitely treat yourself to something that makes you feel good, whether or not you end up staying all day.
Emotionally abusive bosses sicken me. I’ve been there too & it is not your fault.
Xxoo
Sending you a virtual hug. Sounds like bossing isn’t his forte so don’t you dare go home and let him win!
Visual hugs
Virtual, sorry this spelling programm……
Virtual hug from me too. It sounds like you did the right thing, even though it hurts. I wish for something good to come your way today!
I hope your day gets better. Virtual hugs from me also.
Cheer up! Your day will turn out better. Hugs!
Hopefully, he will realize at some point you did the right thing. it does help to smell good, doesn’t it?
Oooh, so hard. Big hug.
Yuck, so sorry. I am recovering from a recent bout of Awful Boss myself and it’s crazy how much it can affect you even when you KNOW it’s on them. A solace for me was reading the advice column Ask a Manager (an easy Google) – it helped me see clearly the difference between good and bad bossing, and gave me comfort in knowing I was not alone!
“bout of Awful Boss”…..great phrasing 🙂
How awful for u, I’m so sorry you’re boss is behaving so horribly.
Take comfort in smelling gorgeous, such a pretty rose.
Thanks so much, everyone <3 You've made me feel much better. I do hesitate to call him emotionally abusive, because it's not typically too bad and I know that soooooo many people have it way worse. Negligent and emotionally careless might be more accurate. But regardless, thanks for brightening my day.
Well at least there’s that – careless/clueless goes down easier than purposeful/vindictive any day.
Glad to hear your chin is holding high 🙂
I hope you at least got him to do what you need him to do, despite the obnoxious comments. Some people should not be managers. Hang in there and don’t let the turkey get you down.
Stay strong, honey! Sending you lots of good vibes.
Ah sorry you had to experience that, hurtful bosses are not nice!
I hope your day got better, Koyel.
His sounds like a personality that requires a periodic run-in. Hopefully you’re in the clear for a while now!
Suffering from PDA (pre-drywall anxiety) today. Main bath tile has to be demo-ed & replaced next week. Only other bath is a powder room, will be really crabby if I can’t shower in addition to noise & messiness!
Trying to chill in Eau Premiere.
Oooh…good luck!
Gypsy Water, from a barely functioning spray sample. Delish.
Mitsouko.
So tired of obstacles. Need to stop taking them personally.
And it is only ten thirty in the morning.
What a day.
But, Mitsouko makes it better…oh stupid spell check! I typed Mitsy as an abreviation just above and spell check helpfully spelled it out.
LOL. Why won’t it do that when I want or need it to?
I swear, the AI will wake up one day and just starting humans what to do.
And sometimes when you encounter an obstacle, you should simply go around it, instead trying to jump over it.
Or set an expected number of them in your mind beforehand, so they don’t come as a (negative) surprise. Only works in predictable situations, of course.
My phone definitely now knows a lot more perfume words than it did when I first got it 🙂
After yesterday’s overdose of Santal Majuscule, I thought I would wear something lighter, but I put on Fate Woman -not really “lighter”. but it’s amazing anyway.
It’s weird, this fall I’ve really been enjoying the scents I usually want in spring.
Fate as a lighter scent? Wow, Santal Majuscule must be a sandalwood bomb!
I just about snorted my tea!
You do smell fabulous! Wandering off to find a sample of Santal Majuscule – I need a sandalwood bomb in my collection, since I just can’t do Samsara any more…
Oh, ha, my Santal Majuscule is a decant, and I couldn’t tell if the sprayer was working properly. I may have had 3 or more sprays on. Which seemed to be about 2 sprays too many.
I like to share my initial feeling about what I think I will wear before i put in perfume compared to what I actually put on because it is usually nonsensical and funny!
I’m not educated enough to know if it smells like real sandalwood, but I like it anyway – it doesn’t have the nose-searing quality of some woody scents. It’s got good throw too. But it’s dusty, not as creamy as other sandalwoods.
Santal Majuscule has such an amazing sandalwood note. I love love love it
Wednesday!
1) Housemate has finally moved in, which is awesome. Set up the network for her computer and printer, and today she is off to IKEA for a proper bed (she borrowed the airbed last night.) Discovered that the local Vietnamese/Asian food store has fresh French Vietnamese pastries, Cafe Du Monde chicory coffee, French bread, Chinese sausage and French pate, in addition to vegetables, humble cuts of meat and all the Asian style condiments you would desire.
2) SOTD: Anthropologie’s Citrine, a citrusy-vanilla scent. I have it still after all these years, and it’s perfect for today, which will be warmish but then turn to our familiar fall rain. A great perk me up for this morning.
That market sounds dangerous. LOL. 😉
Enjoy! !
OMG, you are not kidding! Overworked, friendly people. The food is all the wonderful ingredients for a rainy Portland winter!
Sounds wonderful!
I have serious market envy ????. As for taking a roommate, you are very courageous.
Speaking of which, you ok, ihadanidea?
It’s a beautiful morning and I can not decide what to wear. Perfume wise, of course. I’m wearing my standard ratty old bikini with huge safety toe work boots and heading out to do some gardening . Think I’ll celebrate the outdoors with a smear of Sultan Pasha’s Pure Incense.
What I’m really in the mood for is White Linen or Private Collection but I have neither and haven’t smelled the current PC since nobody has a tester. I stole a spray of White Linen yesterday at Neiman’s and enjoyed it more than any of the niche stuff I was sampling, but I’ve been craving it lately so no surprise there. I really should hunt down some vintage of both in my next bout of Internet time-killing.
Nobody has a tester?? Of White Linen?!? Man, Lauder, get on the ball. Even my dinky mall has Lauder testers.
Oops. Sorry, nobody has a tester of the current Private Collection. Neimans had White Linen but neither Nordies nor Dillard’s did, which I found really strange.
Wish they used an image of you in your bikini and boots for the White Linen advertising …would be much better than all those floaty dress pictures.
I’ve got an older bottle of Private Collection I’ve been thinking of swapping. I think the NST swap is coming up soon but if you’re feeling frisky you can email me at elisagabbert at gmail
That outfit description always makes me smile.
Wearing Mimosa on top of Whiskey (both by Commodity) today, as opposed to wearing them separately yesterday. I think I actually prefer yesterday’s version.
I have Commodity Wool – that was the only one that kept my attention when I sniffed them all at Sephora… I don’t remember Mimosa or Whiskey at all.
Still going backwards in time, today in Caron Coup de Fouet from 1954 — though not my personal bottle, which is about a decade old and a really great teeth-and-claws carnation scent. I bet it was even more vicious back in the day.
Ooooh, vicious carnation! I love it. Is some version of this still in production?
Oh yes. Can’t tell you what it smells like because IFRA restrictions on eugenol have surely changed it. You should get a sample just to be sure, and you should also try Comme Des Garçons Carnation, which is way more violent than even my Coup de Fouet (or, again, used to be: my bottle of that is about a decade old, too).
This time of the morning, fourteen years ago today, I was getting my hair done for my wedding. I honestly don’t remember what perfume I wore that day; I hadn’t fallen down the rabbit hole yet, and so it wasn’t that important.
So, today’s scent is a generous spray of my anniversary present, Chanel No. 19 Poudre.
Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary ! Chanel No 19 Poudre is an excellent choice ☺
Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! You smell terrific!
Congrats! 14 is nothing to sneeze at.
Celebrate your special day!
Happy anniversary! What a nice gift….romantic.
Happy Anniversary! Wishing you and your DH many years filled with love, joy and happiness!
Happy Anniversary!- I need to get a sample of No 19 Poudre, it sounds beautiful.
Have a lovely day
Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the lovely gift.
How lovely, happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
I was all set to wear Tabac Blond today, but woke up in the mood for Eau des Merveilles instead, so that’s what I’m in. It took me a few tries to “get” this one, and now I can’t understand why — it’s so lovely, and so right up my alley with its golden glow and salty bite!
Hi scent twin! *waves* You smell great.
Am in a sample of This is Her Zadig & Voltaire. I cannot help, but it smells linke Byredo Gipsy Water to my nose.
Scent sisters! I haven’t tried the Byredo so can’t compare. But wearing both the Him and Her I am put in mind of the Narciso cube Edp and Edt….but Zadig is less complex and a bit flatter. But Z is very wearable and relaxed.
Wearing Kelly Caleche, leather light, inspired by Robin’s Galop review yesterday. My daughter is away for her second year of college. This is her favorite perfume of mine and it’s making me miss her!
Sigh. I miss my daughter, also away for college. You smell nice.
Thanks. Agree with the sigh…it’s so bitter sweet.
I will be in the same boat soon enough! Not so terribly looking forward to it.
Inspired by a comment that I read yesterday, I’m wearing Cuir de Lancome. I don’t know why I don’t wear it more often? The dry down is gorgeous.
It certainly is. Enjoy smelling beautiful today 😉
Thank you, and you as well! Sous le tout de Paris is on my test list. The notes sound delightful.
Sous le Toit is really good. 🙂
Floragal’s love of it made do a blind buy. Happy I did. I sniffed something last week that seemed si liar, but I’ll have to go back and compare.
It reminds me slightly of Bottega Vaneta but BV is sweeter and rounder. Both are pretty floral sueded leathers.
You’re a new color and design! I like it!
Not anything I did. I’m finding it impossible to actually create a gravatar….
Lean over and waft a little my way. 🙂
Wearing Jubilation today. I don’t know why but I didn’t like it at first and now I love it.
Jubilation is on my Christmas list, I really adore it, but like u, I found it very strange at first.
Left home in a rush this morning and forgot to put on perfume. Good thing I keep a stash of EBP in my desk! SOTD is Iris Poudre.
You smell great!
SOTD: Sous le toit de Paris, embracing its violet leather loveliness.
Yum!
Indult Tihota today. I was making a small decant for a friend this morning and so once I smelled it I couldn’t resist.
Yum. The perfect vanilla. You smell great!
Great stuff, you smell wonderful!
Great vanilla
Have you tried any other Tiholtas?
I haven’t!
Scent of the morning = Eau des Merveilles. So easy-going, EdM almost always melds nicely with whatever fragrance I might wear later in the day.
Perfection! Eau de Merveilles smells great any day, any time of the year!
Thanks! Agree about the perfection of Eau des Merveilles. This afternoon spritzed Jour d’Hermes over the remains of EdM from this morning. Smells lovely. I’d do it again. 😀
SOTD is Ambre Precieux, one of Luckyscents top picks for fall. So far so good, but I am a sucker for anything with Amber/Ambre in the title????
Such a great comfort scent and yet so elegant. You smell great today!
I love Ambre Précieux. If I ever decide I “need” another amber, this will be the one.
Wearing Galop today…
The first time I tried it I found the quince (I think) off putting but I have enjoyed it with subsequent wearings…and the dry down may be the best part…
Looking forward to become more well acquainted with Galop.
Me too.
Tiziana Terenzy Laudano Nero. Mmmmmmm….. Gorgeous stuff!!! Cognac, tabacco, incense, amber and many more… it is actually the first fragrance with prominent tobacco note that that I love. Dark, sweet and comforting. Waiting for it to appear on Hautelook and then it will be mine 🙂
They had it a couple of weeks ago and I decided to pass. Hmmmmm
They had it more then a month ago. I was curious and since I don’t blind buy (usually 🙂 ) I decided to order a sample first. Laudano Nero turned out to be so much better than I expected, so I keep my eyes open for another TT sale on Hautelook.
Sounds yummy.
I was kind of in the mood for sweet this morning, so I went with Angel Parfums du Cuir.
Serious housecleaning to do today, so I shall wear Aliage, which I often do when engaging in physical activity because I am so ticked by its “sports fragrance” marketing.
tickled! marketing has to be a lot more obnoxious to tick me.
I love having perfumes I associate with different activities, u smell lovely.
I started the day in 31 Rue Cambon, seriously lovely perfume, but it had worn off by this afternoon, and as luck would have it, my new bottle of Dzonka arrived- it was a blind buy, so I was a little apprehensive.. My worries were allayed however when I inhaled the first glorious spray, I absolutely love it!
Dzongkha is in my all time favorite top 10! You smell great.
I need to try this and the peppery ones! I’m afraid i’ll like them to much.
You and Dzongkha were obviously meant to be! So if you love Dzongkha, Timbuktu should be next… ????
TImbuktu is wonderful stuff!
Wearing L’attesa today. Very sad news about a friend yesterday and this slightly melancholy beauty fits the bill.
Sorry to hear you’ve had rotten news.
So sorry about your friend Amy. I hope L’attesa provides some comfort.
It did, oddly enough. There is something warm and enveloping about it. Thank you for the kind thought.
Sorry to hear that!
Thank you. It’s been a rough fall for many of us.
So sorry for the sad news. I wish him/her well.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend.
Thank you all for the kind thoughts.
Musk week continues….i have been a bit underwhelmed by everything I’ve tried ( musk-wise). I have two options: move to a city/country with a better perfume selection and/ or cheaper shipping, or blind buy Musc Nomade or L’air de Rien (you know who you are…). I’ve opted for blind buying, starting with Musc Nomade as I haven’t found anyone on ebay who will ship LdR to NZ. Very exciting! In the meantime i am wearing sprays from my samples of Zadig&Voltaire For Him and For Her… I like the powder coated spray nozzles and caps on the bottles and the way the bottles are cut to fit into each other. I might do a week of clever his’n’hers bottle designs…thinking Gaultier2, A Scent, …that Philippe Strack would be good. Had to get Musc Nomade in the square bottle which is abit of a shame as I like those ribbed , frosted AG bottles…
I hope you like MN – it is a bit strong so go easy when you first spray it on.
Go Easy? Does not compute!
I left the message on your post yesterday, should you wish for a sample of the Nicolaï ( She has 2 musks in her line-up), let me know how I can get in touch with you. I’ll gladly send you a sample.
Hello Austen Fan! That’s a really generous offer but I am happy just mucking around in my usual slap dash way. Thanks so much, though. So kind.
Great, if ever you do change your mind, just let me know.
I’m in Sublime Balkiss, which I really love. Was just looking at Lucky Scent’s profile of this frag (window shopping!) which says, “Sublime Balkiss is sure to appeal to Angel fans – if you’ve given up on the Thierry Mugler’s classic because it was too popular, or too potent.” Really? I definitely would not have made that connection at all.
Yeah that makes limited sense. I am glad you like it!!!
To me, it is a floral/citrus and lilac scent and something else that I cannot put my finger on, but I find addictive.
I love, LOVE this scent–that thanks to your generosity I am indulging in (however you did get me hooked in the first place) !!
Heh, I can send you more. The bottle is just sitting in my drawer, collecting dust – I literally used it once this year. LMK when you are ready
Mmmmm, I really enjoy Sublime Balkiss as well. I got one of those supercute minibottles when I ordered my Bois d’Iris and Bergamote straight from TDC. It’s a great scent, but it doesn’t remind me of Angel at all.
Wearing DK Signature again after wearing it last night and thinking, this really is one of the most underrated perfumes I own.
Wearing Lonesome Rider all morning, after a bike trainer session and shower switched to Dries Van Noten.
You smell delightful…
Today I just had a minor surgery, so I’m wearing l’Heure Exquise to brighten things up a little in this hospital.
Heal well and quickly, solanace!
Good health to you.
🙂
Thank you, Bear!
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Thank’s!
Be well, you are impeccably perfumed!
This is such a good perfume, Austenfan. Comforting, elegant, everything is right. I’ll have a choosing problem whenever I pass by an Annick Goutal retailer, lol, because I’m in LOVE with most of those samples, girl.
Good! Bear in mind that most of those samples are from older bottles, so things might have changed a little. Mind you, I’ve never heard about major changes to either Sables or HE. I remember my first sniff of HE so well. I had blind bought it on ebay in I think 2008 or so. Opened it, sprayed it, and was completely stunned.
Will you have to stay in hospital for long? I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
Thank you, dear! The doctor just came to say I’ll be going home in about an hour. The biopsy was good, the surgery was fine, I cannot complain! And agree, L’Heure Exquise is nothing short of stunning. I hope the sweet hospital staff enjoyed it as much as myself.
Speedy recovery too!
Thank you!
Hope you have a easy and speedy recovery, Solanace.
Take care, solanace..
Oh heal quickly!
Wearing and enjoying Coco Noir today, thanks to a generous perfume fairy.
Coco Noir is all right, isn’t it? Hey, my Signal Hill Walk oil is improving. It is now clear with a sediment …and smells smoother, less pond water, more mud wall. . It’s quite good fun, eh. I might try a lemon-musk scent next.
I like it. I can recognize it as being a Coco relative. I’ll have to try a genuine side-by-side sometime.
Hey, that’s good: I’m pretty sure I prefer mud wall to pond water. ???? Lemon-musk sounds interesting and good.
Celebrating cooling weathers in Miyako.
They have the city editions at Nordstrom’s for a few more days, so I got a couple of sprays of Tubereuse 40, which is a nice spiced, and not-too-sweet orange blossom for a day when I’m taking a pal to birthday lunch, and there’s appointments after…
Not affordable at this price, but delightful to try all the same.
Cuir de Lancome today after being reminded of it the last couples of days. Ahhhh 🙂
SOTD = SHL Taklamakan
I am in LUST! How could one not be? Just sit back, relax and read Kafka’s review:
http://www.kafkaesqueblog.com/2016/06/11/shl-777-taklamakan-desert-sands-desert-gold/
To assuage guilt of blind buying a full bottle, I went in on a basenotes split and kept the bottle. I see myself wearing this often!
He he he. I knew you would love it!!!
Everyone is raving about this scent. I have a sample coming and can’t wait to try it. Enjoy your new bottle!
Thank you for that link, Hajusuuri. Kafka’s Taklamakan review is so compelling, lovely to read, beautiful images. I am usually wary of resinous and smoky scents, yet I was utterly enthralled by the description of this one. And that bottle is pure enchantment.
Changed up the SOTD to Alaia EdP for today. The Alaia shines in hot, sunny summer weather; not so much now. I’m thinking it’s time for me to investigate what scents work for rainy autumn days.
SOTD is Phaedon “Sable et Soleil”, the third of my ‘manly florals’ for the week. So far I have found most Phaedon stuff to be annoyingly slight, but Sable et Soleil is a very pleasant summery scent, with a salty note quite reminiscent of Profumum Roma “Acqua di Sale” although it’s a little softer and sweeter overall. Features lemon blossom, jasmine, geranium, coconut milk, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and white musk.
For some unknown reason I wanted to wear fruit (I am not a fruity perfume lover at all) and I grabbed Bois de Paradis and it is just perfect for today. I got this in NST’s first perfume swap, I think, and although I can’t remember who sent it, I can’t imagine being without it, so thanks! The partial bottle will probably last me the rest of my life.
I don’t often like fruit either, but this one is so good!
Tokyo Milk Honey & the Moon for me today.
Have a cold (yes, again, you all must be sick of hearing it..) so sniffing vicariously through all of you. Thanks, guys!
Oh! Take good care and feel better soon. When I have a cold I smell like a koala bear thanks to Vicks VapoRub.
