Monday, yet again! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing the dearly departed but otherwise perfect Gobin Daudé Sève Exquise.
Reminder: 8/19 will be Perfect Friday — wear a fragrance that is nearly perfect, and tell us how you would change it (or, layer it!) to make it completely perfect.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Your perfume sounds amazing, Robin!
I’m in La Chasse Aux Papillons and drinking home made cold brew coffee. It’s been the only kind of caffeine I can take these days due to the heat.
I have not yet looked to see what the heat index will be later today, and might not want to know. My son started 2 weeks of band camp this morning and can’t even imagine how that will go if the heat is like it was yesterday!
I used to make cold brew coffee with cardamom pods all the time. I can’t have so much coffee now but boy do I miss it.
Plus, you smell great!
Oh goodness. I hope your son will be ok. I’m sure the instructors know to give them lots of water breaks while practicing.
Coffee usually does a number on me, but since I discovered low-acid coffee from The Fresh Market I’ve been drinking a lot more lately.
Oh, coffee and cardamom sounds delicious! I haven’t explored cold-brewed coffee (perfectly happy with a hot cup of Joe each morning), but that might be worth trying one day when it’s predicted to start off warm in these parts. How many pods were necessary for a mug of flavorful coffee?
I’m a hot cup of joe gal too. Yesterday I actual purchased a iced coffee in the morning and I regretted in immediately.. just not the same.
I don’t do iced coffee either, no matter how hot it is outside. Purists ????
You usually brew more than one cup of cold brew at a time — more like a pitcher. For my 34 oz pitcher I think I used 7 or 8 cardamom pods (crack them open as you put them in).
For hot coffee, I think you can grind beans and cardamom together and do drip or french press or whatever…
Thanks, Robin!
Twins!
Terracotta Le Parfum since it holds up to heat well
Great choice.
That was my scent yesterday, so lovely!
Does anyone know of a source for samples of this one? I’ve been fighting the urge to blind buy it for two years now, but I’ve never seen it at STC or TPC.
STC has it. I bought mine at Saks
It’ll be rocketing back up into the thirties tomorrow but it’s surprisingly un-hot today so I’m taking the opportunity to wear something a bit heavier, a sample of Maison Berdoues Vanille Sublime. Mostly tobacco-laced vanilla, very nice.
I am a distant cousin in Berdoues Assam of India…right now I am exploring the Cologne Grand Cru offerings from Berdoues but I know they have many more offerings (such as yours) which are reasonably priced….the regular colognes look nice and come in hefty bottles for liberal appication!
SOTD: L’Eau Au Masculin (Lolita Lempicka). 🙂
I’m sure you smell great but have not smelled that one (IIRC, it is not the same as Lolita Lempicka Au Masulin).
Thanks. It is much less “sweet” than the original, and I actually wear it more often, especially in this heat and humidity.
Makes sense. LL is a bit much for today’s weather 😉
Thanks for the inspiration, I just put on some LLAM.
I won’t comment on my SOTD as y’all already know what it is….I am testing a blend I made a while ago which I tweaked last night…vanilla, strawberry, jasmine, amber, sandalwood, tobacco…so far so good 🙂
It sounds so good!
Much to my surprise it actually turned out better than I thought it would…and I reapplied and added the Assam to the top…now i really like it 🙂
Where do you buy your isolates
Do you use mostly essential oils to create your customs blends? I’d love to see your lab in action! 🙂
Yes…I use only essential oils and fruit “isolates” many of which can be bought online (they are essential oils combined to create a certain accord…for example when you pair rhododendrum leaf with tangerine it creates a fresh pineapple accord)…..my “lab” is a tiny table in my basement where I keep my essential oils as it is nice and cool 🙂
The heat broke me.
Got sick yesterday and into today..since I am a stay at home mom ..my husband is home for the morning helping me out.
I am so tired. I slept until just a few minutes ago..and that is a lot of someone who is up at 5am
Commando today
Oh goodness! Feel better! I can see how the heat would get to anyone after spending Saturday in NYC…barely walked a few blocks on Bleaker Street and I was drenched in sweat front to back, top to bottom…utterly oppressive heat!
But on the positive side we had a wonderful brunch at Bosie’s Tea Parlor and I got to introduce my friend to the wonderful world of Annick Goutal….I now have a perfume partner in crime! Unfortunately the one fragrance she sprayed on her left wrist she did not remember the name of but she told me she was huffing her wrist all night long! I am dying to know what it is as I would consider buying her a full bottle as I know some of the AGs can be found heavily discounted online….
anyway, sleep is great and if you can squeeze in a nap definitely do so!
Do share if you find out what it is. Maybe if she can pick out the notes you could narrow it down.
I will nap today when the babies nap.
I am enjoying my sample of Assam over the weekend..thanks for posting about that one. I wore that and 31RC over the weekend.
I may break down and buy/mail her samples from STC, the Perfumed Court and Luckyscents to try to figure out which one it was…it could be Passion, Rose Pompon, Cheverfeille, Songes, Petite Cherie, Charlotte or Eau du Ciel….I know she sprayed Eau d”Hadrien on her right wrist which she liked but it was her left wrist she told me she was huffing all night long…and she has no sense of what notes she is smelling although she did say it wasn’t “pear” when I asked as I thought it might have been Petite Cherie….this is a mystery I am dying to solve 🙂
Hope you will feel better after your nap!
I hope you feel better as the day goes on. Please get some rest.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hope lots of sleep will help!
Feel better! Hydrate hydrate and rest rest rest! 🙂
Stay resting. Glad to know you have some help, at least for the morning.
Heat stroke is no joke. Rest up and drink lots of fluids.
Thanks all..I am drinking lots of water and room temperature tea.
Remember to add some salt at some point as well! Take care.
I have seen the heat indices across the country and you must be fried. Heat and plus the responsibilities of motherhood are no joke. Rest rest rest and plenty of iced, sweetened mint tea (the type made with green tea and mint leaves).
Feel better. Perhaps some refrigerator chilled cologne will help your recovery.
I hope you feel better and can get some rest!
Oh no! It really is exhausting and with two little ones it must just wear you out. Nice of your hubby to stay home to help.
Be well soon!
Get well soon!
Oh no — I hope you feel better soon! Great that your husband is able to stay home and help out.
SOTD is the almost perfect Chamade vintage EdT, thank you Ann S. !
It smells perfect and utterly beautiful but it would be really perfect if still available at an affordable price.
You smell amazing. I try to ignore how much I like vintage Chamade because of the ridiculous price.
Same here. And I love the current parfum, too.
Love vintage Chamade, it is perfect. But isn’t the modern one almost as good?
Apparently the most recent version by Wasser is very good as well.
http://boisdejasmin.com/2010/12/guerlain-perfume-vintage-and-modern-comparisons.html
Just skip to the mention of Chamade 2013
Thank you for the link, I had missed this article!
You know, I tried a newer one quite a long time ago and found it forgettable, but it may have been just because I didn’t appreciate any Guerlains except Mitsy at that point. I will have to give the current version a sniff.
It must be a green day. I am wearing CdG Calamus.
I am drinking a greenish Taiwanese balled oolong that was given out to observers of the Taiwan presidential inauguration this past May (I wasn’t there, but a friend passed it on to me).
Is it good?
It is okay–nothing to write home about, but drinkable.
Yum — we are second cousins or something!
Ugh! It must be Monday because the page refreshed in the middle of an admittedly too-long post and I lost it.
I’m going to be in a good mood anyway because it’s raining (in Texas! in August!!). The bunnies in my garden look pretty soggy but they will now have something to eat that isn’t my yarrow or hawarthia. I was going to need to mow soon anyway, so I don’t even have that to complain about.
In celebration of the drippy sky, I’m wearing the last of my Violets and Rainwater. Does anybody know if the re-release is different? I don’t know that I need a bottle, but I’m sure enjoying it today and she does actually sell reasonable sizes so I will probably cave and restock at some point.
Hope everybody has a wonderful and pleasantly fragrant week!
Yay for rain! We are supposed to get a lot tonight.
We’ve had almost 3″ north of Austin and its glorious. Not looking forward to the trip out for groceries later, though. Folk ain’t good at drivin’ in this rain stuff and HEB is situated in an accident-prone area anyway.
Wish I could come over and watch your bunnies be adorable for a while! I miss mine. 🙂
We were supposed to get rain this weekend, but it never showed – a cool, dry north wind still made things much better! (I guess it’s probably headed your way, too.) I would have liked some rain, though. Enjoy your downpour. 🙂
Crazy busy week ahead! Let’s roll….
SOTD: La Perla J’aime les Fleurs
I got a kick out my 12 yr old last night….She’s in 7th grade, and has PE this semester. Last night she’s packing her gym clothes and asks if she can PLEASE buy some body mist(S) for her gym bag? Evidently all the girls douse themselves with VS Pink Body Mists after gym, to cover up the funk. So imagine her delight when I show her quite a few in our bathroom cabinet to choose from! LOL This morning, I notice she has 4 BOTTLES in her bag! HA HA She said the girls are definitely going to want to borrow some, so she just took them all….. 🙂 Can you imagine the smell of the locker room afterward???
That’s a good idea. Wish body mists were more prevalent when I was in gym class.
LOL! The boys have had Axe spray for too long….waaaay too long…but I guess the girls are getting into the whole body mist thing too? The VS Pink mists are affordable, so I’m cool with her sharing the love!
I did notice she packed her Pink Sugar hair perfume too…..I wonder how stinky she’s expecting to get? 🙂 I didn’t say a word…
Well remember when you were that age? I was paranoid that I smelled pongy!
I think we DID smelly pongy! LOL!!!
I deliberately try to schedule the grade 7 and 8’s visits to the library early in the day so that they haven’t had Phys. Ed just before they come in. It is just too much to have 30-some 12 and 13 year olds, who have drowned themselves in body sprays, working in front of my desk.
😀
My son’s teacher (he’s in 5th grade) REQUIRES that they wear deodorant! LOL!
Ha! My son’s teacher (also 5th grade) gave a little power point presentation at back to school night that included the importance of deodorant & not being the “smelly kid”!
I’ll bet there’s a cloud of “Pink” in the locker room for about 10 minutes after the girls change, lol.
When I was in high school (in the 80s), it seemed all the girls kept either Shower to Shower powder or Johnson’s Baby powder in their gym lockers.
Yeah. Don’t have to imagine what that smells like! Unfortunately, the girls don’t leave it in their gym lockers. Fresh mistings are required throughout the day, apparently, and the hallways can be buried in berries! Maybe have a conversation about polite usage with your daughter to plant the seed? 😀
Oh, boy. Sweat and candy sweet. Yuck.
You are such a cool mom 😉
SOTD is Hermès “Ambre Narguilé”. I enjoyed this in the cooler morning, and as the day got warmer I wondered if Vetiver Tonka or Rose Ikébana might have been better? A bright sunny day, so why do I feel so tired? Really not looking forward to flying to Paris tonight (and not expecting much sympathy for my predicament either!).
My second birthday package from Germany has arrived at last – a FB of Papillon “Anubis” for the Autumn and Winter, plus samples of D.S.& Durga’s ‘Hylnds’ series.
You smell great! Those birthday presents will definitely help ease the re-entry to Paris.
I’ll sympathize. Flying really takes it out of you.
You smell great, though, heat or no. Ambre Narguilé is really something. I can never decide if it’s my favourite Hermessence, although really I think it is: it’s certainly the farthest from the general transparency of the line.
Thank you Pyramus. It’s a lovely scent indeed! It lasted most of the day as well; I’m now in Vetiver Tonka to see me through an evening of airports and taxis. :^)
Vetiver Tonka is gorgeous. I quite like Ambre Narguilé but don’t find it as interesting.
SOTD Roja Vetiver Extrait. Great for a warm day and long-lasting too.
Flying is draining. Do you have a flight time threshold past which you would seriously consider paying 2-3x coach fare for a business class seat?
Happily I’m only doing short haul at the moment.
BHX-CDG is 1 hr, so I spend more time in taxis and airports than on the plane. On that kind of flight I just want to sit in an aisle seat near the front so I can get out quickly. I’ve paid £60 to upgrade to biz class on a Friday, just to help de-stress, but I wouldn’t pay £400 instead of £200. However well this flight goes, it’s just a pain in the ass commute when all is said and done, mostly because CDG airport is in the middle of nowhere and none of the options to get into Paris are great.
BHX-AGP (Málaga) is 2.5 hours, so I’ll pay £20-£40 extra for the extra legroom seats near the front, priority check-in and priority boarding. I try to get a window seat there for the view of the last 30 minutes into Málaga, coming in over the orange-brown plains, over the Guadalquivir river, skirting the flamingo lake (Fuente de Piedra), the mountains with their sky blue reservoirs plunging into the dramatic El Chorro gorge, over the castle at Álora and then down the orchards and market gardens of the Guadalhorce valley to the airport. I’ve done it both as a private and as a business flight and it’s always a pleasure. :^D
I’m wearing Tom Ford Fleur de Portofino and drinking Chai green tea.
Sounds like a lovely combination.
It is!
you smell wonderful!
I’m wearing a deep pink top and matching patterned skirt today and for some reason my outfit seemed to call for Rose Anonyme.
You look and smell great!
You DO smell great. I wish Rose Anonyme was available in one of those sets they always have at Sephora: I don’t want a whole bottle but I’d buy a batch of those slender sprays in a heartbeat if RA were one of them. (The website lists a quarter-ounce spray by itself but our local Sephora doesn’t carry it for some reason.)
The discount online perfume vendors are beginning to sell some of the Atelier colognes…you might find some RA heavily discounted…..
http://www.fragrancex.com/search/search_results?stext=atelier
Here you go…and I have no affiliation!
Yes – I found a tester at fragrancenet for a very good price. Before that I used up a purse spray that I believe I did find at Sephora, but that was a few years ago.
I added my email to a waitlist for an out of stock perfume at fragrancex and I received an email for 10 % off my next order and free shipping over $35 which would potentially lower the price of RA even more if you choose to do that as well
nice!
Zoologist’s Panda. I thought it was perfect for a hot and steamy and now rainy day.
My favourite from the line
Happy Monday!
1) A radiantly hot, dry week ahead. Am wearing Jour d’Hermes on top after shower Florida water.
2) In white pants and my pink fancy people blouse. I blew dried my hair in soft waves but I think i am going to put it up into a French twist at break- a little too warm to have hair at the nape.
you smell lovely!
Jour is such and uplifting and joyful scent. I love it and wear it frequently.
In the middle of this sweltering weather I was craving for some incense. I reached immediately for CDG Kyoto as my SOTD. It is very calming, simple, green and cool. It could not be better!
You smell great. Kyoto is great. Now that you mentioned it, I’m thinking about it for a bedtime scent.
As a bedtime scent it works very well. Very relaxing and cozy.
perfect!
I’ve gotten more compliments on Kyoto at work than any other perfume. I never seem to reach for it in hotter weather, but I love it immensely!
It’s not so much hot here but it’s humid from about three days of on and off rain. The Tokyo Milk Arsenic has been washed off. Let’s say that I didn’t really care for it. Who names a perfume Arsenic to begin with? I wouldn’t, it just sounds bad. So I’m giving my nose a break for a couple hours and will wear Jicky edp.
I didn’t care much for Arsenic either.
Les Nez Manoumalia very light sprayed from a small sample. One could just imagine being on a steamy Pacific Island while sniffing it, and certainly this heat would be more appropriate there. I got up at 4:30 and was hoping it would stay with me and be a little vacation in a bottle for the day. What a good start to the week!
Manoumalia is from another world. I love it, and will wear it this week.
You put it perfectly. Perpetually on my wish list.
It just joined mine. If I decide to have an early birthday as an excuse to acquire, will that make me actually older 😉 ?
Manoumalia can only make you younger!
Which reminds me of Patsy saying to Edina that she will be her mirror.
Adding the ladies to my watchlist!
Manoumalia went into my “hmmmm” pile recently. I need to try it again — I think I wasn’t quite in the mood for it at the time, but it was compelling nonetheless.
Not everyone likes it.
I just grabbed the first thing in my sample & decant box, which turned out to be Mistral Patchouli. It works for the hot, muggy weather. I’m hoping for more rain. It rained all evening Saturday, and all day Sunday. In August! In Texas! It’s a miracle of some kind.
Mistral Patchouli is lovely!
I’m feeling bad for the rest of the country who have our usual weather, but not bad enough not to have done a silly little happy rain dance this morning. It’s still only 72 degrees!
great choice!
Today is the first day of my six day vacation. I had to take some time off because of lack of childcare. It works out though, because we have back to school preparations to do. So far today, I’m just being plain lazy. Sotd is Miu Miu.
Lazy is good. Enjoy your time off! I don’t remember the scent well, but I love the Miu Miu bottle.
Hope it is a wonderful lazy time!
C & E Sandalwood on a cool and overcast morning.
You smell like my dad! That’s a good thing.
The miserable heat finally broke here yesterday. I even had to put an extra blanket on the bed and the A/C remained off all day.
In an effort to keep the cool feelings, I am wearing Ava Luxe’s Moroccan Mint Tea – such a beautiful, fresh fragrance.
Really need to try some Ava Luxe. Mint and tea sounds wonderful in the heat.
I also highly recommend the vanilla musk – closest thing to a Tihota dupe I have ever smelled
Once upon a time I read a comment somewhere that Ava Luxe Incense smells just like a Jeffrey Pine, which made me mad to try it. Haven’t managed to track it down, though.
Angel Eau Sucree is what I’m wearing today, and currently drinking a cup of jasmine green tea.
I started watching Stranger Things on Netflix last night. It is really good!! I watched three episodes back to back, but had to turn off TV so I could wake up for today. Mondays are such a drag, lol.
Three different people at my work have recommended this to me and raved about it…got to make time to watch…
It is a great show. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it
I love the retro feel the show has. Also, the young actress who plays El is outstanding.
Pomegranate Noir. It opens with a watery ripe fruit note and then turns into a slightly masculine incense with canned tuna chunks thrown in. Weirdly unusual, but in a good way.
My only worry is that the second I finish my mini and buy a FB the fruit will start to overpower and ruin the whole thing.
So, you aren’t worried that the *tuna* would start to overpower? 😀
Popping in just before I go to the train station.
It was a public holiday in Poland today so I got to enjoy a 3-day-long weekend. Now I have to go back to Poznań.
I’m wearing Carner Barcelona D600 today
Wearing Un Jardin sur le Nil. Lots of it. I don’t wear this one as much as I used to, which is a shame, as it is a great scent. The weather is as glorious as can be. Around 25ºC, sunny and with a nice light breeze.
Reciprocal in perfume appreciation today. This was one of my early favorites and deserves more wearing.
Twins! Just finished the last of my decant today.
It’s my favourite Jardin, but I like to wear it when it’s really warm and that doesn’t happen often.
L’Ombre Dans L’Eau today. The bitter green is working nicely for the heat today. My husband said “I can smell the tomato accord. I just wanted to use the word “accord”. Cute????
I’ve taken inspiration from jenkr and am going through neglected samples and decants and using the ones I like.
Very cute – love it!
????
OMG that’s adorable!
😀
You have done a great job:)
Thanks. One can only try…
Yay! Way to get through those samples! I rather like having a limited selection of scents to choose from doing this project. It’s helped me immensely in getting ready faster in the mornings.
???? I still have too many choices and deciding this morning was no easy task!! I’m trying to use the samples that keep ending up in the “keep” pile because I like them, but end up forgetting about them again. The stuff I don’t really like or like enough I have no problem getting rid of.
Haha, maybe floragal’s hubs should hang out with yours 😉
Wearing a smidge of La Femme Prada this morning…
It is very sweet…some tuberose and lots of beeswax. I do not think I would have been able to name beeswax on my own but I checked the notes and, after the hint ;), it is quite apparent.
It is very feminine and sweet overall…I don’t imagine I will need more than my sample.
I did not fall in love at first sniff, but will spend more time with it this week.
I prefer L’homme Prada. Nordstrom had Iris (don’t recall which formulation), Amber and this one side by side. I sprayed more of each perfume into the smelling cone and must have gotten some Amber on me – wow!
Happy Monday. I am not unhappy, but wish I were not at work! Wearing Micalkef Gaiac which I find lovely for work, soft and subtle yet calming and enjoyable. It’s a woodsy musky mix with a dash of vanilla that perfectly offsets the vetiver. Love.
Back to work from a week off… and I didn’t do any emailing and so my inbox is absolutely daunting. Oh, well. It will all get done.
I’m in jasmine loveliness by way of Diptyque’s Essences Insensées 2015.
Very pleased with myself for booking all my fall travel already. So not like me, but it does feel good and I’m happy with the prices I found. One of the places we’ll visit is Woodstock, IL, where they filmed Groundhog Day and where Orson Welles did some of his work. Should be interesting!
Never heard of that Woodstock. Probably lovely in the Fall. And, of course, you smell wonderful today.
Thank you!
Smelling great!
Aw, thanks. 😉
Pretty Terracotta for now, refreshing Eau de Guerlain for later.
Have a good Monday, NST. 😀
Perfect progression!
SSS Rose Volupté. This is definitely my favorite of the four SSS perfumes I’ve tried; I think maybe the musks she uses don’t agree with me? Anyway, since the musk is not the star player in this one, I can enjoy the lavish roses instead. Moving into a new office today, and meeting some new people (I’m being loaned out to a different department). I hope they also appreciate lavish roses!
Not my favorite SSS, but that one is my favorite of the 3 roses she has. Good luck in your new environs!
I haven’t tried Velvet Rose, but I like RV much more than RM. I’m really impressed with the craftsmanship on these perfumes, and looking forward to exploring the line further.
I didn’t love RM, so maybe it IS the musk. I liked VR: it’s a nice, natural smelling lush garden rose. Fairly straightforward. Yes, I think she’s a talented perfumer, especially since she’s self-taught. And all of her perfumes smell like high quality materials.
The continued soggy atmosphere, which is mercifully a it cooler today, had me in the mood for Iris Silver Mist. It’s earthiness matches the wet and muddy world around me today.
always a great choice!
I’m also in iris, but cuddlier:)
Arquiste Fleur de Louis today. and I guess that I’m “on the list” because I was lucky enough last week to receive a preview bottle of Jo Malone basil & neroli in the mail! I think it is really nice, and I bet the candle is going to be great.
You smell great!
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
No. 19 EDP is near perfect – versatile in any weather, any venue and any occasion. I cannot think how it could ever offend anyone (and if it does, there is something wrong with the other person). In any case, an improvement I would suggest is to mke its occasional peek-a-boo feature go away – I want it to smell it constantly throughout the day.
No. 19 is perfect, in my book. I think of it as my green-goes-to-the-country-club perfume (whereas Corsica Furiosa is my green-takes-off-all-her-clothes-and-runs-growling-through-the-verdure perfume).
Love it!
🙂
It sounds like I need some Corsica Furiosa!
I’m wearing sous le vent, which is delightful in the warm weather.
Finally decided on a SOTD, a spritz and a half of Dune. It is smelling lovely this morning, which is overcast and cool-ish. Hopefully, it won’t bloom too big when the clouds eventually burn off and the sun returns!
I was amused by the following article titles on Reductress (described by some as “the feminist Onion”):
“Kind Ways to Tell Your Coworker She Smells Like a Dusty Vitamin”
“How to Talk to a Coworker When Her Perfume Attracts Badgers”
NOTE: I’m NOT posting links because Google indicates the site may have been hacked. I hope they get it fixed.
Thank you for the laugh, Noz. I love The Onion and wasn’t familiar with
Reductress.
I wasn’t either, just happened to see a reference in a tweet yesterday. Think maybe I should check the perfume closet for badger scat. 😉
Funny!
Their twitter account (which I assume is safe as long as you don’t click on links), has a photo of a woman biting into a huge piece of deep-fried something with the caption, “Get Rid of Your Beach Body for Fall!” 🙂
Haha! Awesome. I’ll have to check them out. I’ve never read them before. I’m an Onion fan, though.
I LOVE the Reductress – the recent article about marrying a man because he could say “ni hao” had me in stitches.
and I want to slap the guys who think knowing how to say “ni hao” elevates them to Neanderthal.
Good morning, fragrant folks! I’m on a green kick these days (today’s picture is perfect!) and started off the day in Corsica Furiosa. Like most furies, it burns itself out in a short time span, but oh what a wonderful two-or-so hours! I’ve been telling myself that I really, really don’t need any more full bottles in my bulging collection — except for Sa Majeste la Rose — but I think I do need a lot of this, and the ability to spray with abandon.
Oh, also, I should report that my husband said it smells “like jumping into a bowl filled with ferns.” What a guy.
What a guy indeed. Much better response than I’m getting these days!
That sounds like a compliment to me!
SOTD = Rouge Bunny Rouge Tenera. I really liked Embers too, might be a FB-worthy.
I am wearing Brin de Reglisse from a sample given to me by Waterdragon last week. What a beautiful scent, one that becomes part of your skin rather than sitting on it. Waterdragon was wearing Ambre Narguille when I met her, and she brought in a sample for me to try and it is now on the top of my most wanted list. Black cashmere too…Auckland was perfume heaven. Lost my Amouage virginity (tried Journey woman), tried ELDO Rien Intense ( not for me, to much car exhaust ), tried Tam Dao ( loved it ), fifty shades of Serge Lutens, Olfactive Studios, Arquiste, Bella Freud….At one point four of us were standing in a mob at the book shop ( prior to the launch) sniffing blotters. Unfortunately, i hadn’t bothered to label any of them because I was sure I’d remember which blotter was in which pocket of my jacket and jeans…and I didn’t. Who cares anyway? I had at least six scents sprayed up and down my arms, and was in the company of Waterdragon and a group of warm- hearted women so all was well with the world. And yeaterday it felt like spring and I noticed snowdrops in the garden!
You smell good! And did I already thank you for the Moonstone recommendation? Read it in a day and enjoyed it.
Sounds simply wonderful 🙂 I’m glad to hear everything went well. And it would have been warmer than Dunedin!
Put your new book on my Kindle this morning, but haven’t started it yet. Got the information from I think it was Waterdragon here.
You might be the best-smelling author ever, Kanuka! 🙂
There should be a sticker on the cover of my books reading: All proceeds from the sale of this book help support an expensive perfume habit
😀
Perfect!
I’m polishing off my Lush Orange Blossom decant today and inadvertently participating in the Friday project because this is a pretty perfect OB scent for me but no longer available.
Figures, right?
Yeah, Lush likes to do that. I am just starting in on a bottle of Flying Fox that I bought on Ebay, so that is really helping matters.
I also really like Ava Luxe Neroli Blossom and Houbigant Oranger en Fleurs. Actually, I have a whole bunch of pretty great orange blossom or neroli scents. I’ll be just fine. 🙂
I wanted to thank everybody for the lovely comments on Friday – I unfortunately could not reply, but I appreciated every single one! Back from London now and wearing OJ Vanille d’Iris – I bought a bottle.
If you happen to be in London in the coming months, DO go and see the O’Keeffe exhibition at Tate Modern. It’s amazing, especially with the audio guide – I listened to every single second they had recorded.
You smell lovely. That is a nice and calming scent.
I only do museums with audio guides these days. I’m completely sold on this and would love to visit the Tate Modern again.
I am considering ringing in the New Year in London!
The New Year’s fireworks at the London Eye are always spectacular!
Hi all, I’m back at work after a week’s holiday. I had a great time in Dunedin visiting my mother and met Kanuka in real life. That was lovely – lots of talking and sniffing. Kanuka and Waterdragon have already written of their meeting in Auckland, so it’s been a good week in NZ for meeting perfume friends.
Le Galion’s Sortilège for me today, it has a wonderful classic feel.
I’m in a mood. Although it is not as oppressively hot in NYC today, it was still hot enough for NYC miasma to hang heavy and linger, especially when an open door releases the smell of an air-conditioned lobby, a stark contrast to the heat. What comes to mind to describe the stench: unwashed bodies with sweaty armpits, ripe feet, week-old dried ketchup and mustard, wet kitchen garbage with rotting fruit peel and territory marked by dogs and the visible homeless.
You forgot to mention the flying cockroaches that are circling in complete and utter glee.
