Edible perfume

Posted by Robin on 2 July 2016 11 Comments

Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams makes (and eats) an ice cream sundae inspired by Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. She uses cherries cold-poached in orange blossom water and peach liqueur, Salty Caramel ice cream, toasted coconut flakes and honey whipped cream; you can find the recipe here.

Man, I love me some Jeni’s. They have a ylang ylang flavor this summer that is wonderful. If you are in an area that has one, you must go!

Ha, that’s great. I’ve been enjoying Jeni’s Ice Cream for over 10 years, although less frequently now that I live in Seattle. For me, there is simply no beating them. And I found this in her bio on their website “Jeni has been making ice creams professionally for two decades. Before that, she studied art, worked in a bakery, and had a serious hobby blending perfumes and collecting essential oils.” So Jeni is definitely one of us. 🙂

“I think of ice cream as an edible perfume.” — Jeni

Adorable! I wonder if the staff at the Jeni’s ice cream shops have been warned about customers asking for the Bronze Goddess sundae.

If there was a shop near me, I’d go get one!

My local Jeni’s had this available today! I plunked down the $7.50 in a heartbeat. It was very good. I definitely think she did a great job – it didn’t taste like BG smells, exactly, but the flavors sort of triangulated to create the same feeling.

Omg! I’m in LA, and there’s a Jeni’s near by! I’ve never been, but I’ve heard fabulous things about it! It’s been a month since this post, but I’m gonna ask about the sundae anyway. If it’s no longer available, I’m sure I’ll have plenty other delicious things to choose from! I’m. So. Excited! Haha! ^_^

Yeah, I am not going to feel sorry for you if you have to eat some other sort of ice cream from Jeni’s, ha!

        L. O. L! They actually had it still! I lost it when I saw the little display they had for it on the counter! Haha! It was great fun, and so pretty it could bring a tear to a perfume addict’s eye! Lol! Completely agree with Regina up there! While the taste didn’t scream BG, it definitely gave me the BG feels! Delicious, fun, and cheerful. It just put a smile on my face, which was all it had to do right?! I devoured it, with no shame or embarrassment. Lol! But I’m sure I made a fool of myself smelling it the whole time. Haha! The workers and fellow patrons probably thought I was craycray. Haha! Fortunately for me, I have another appointment in the area in 2 weeks. I saw the ylang ylang & fennel mentioned above, among other facinating flavors I’m very curious to try! ^_^ #dontkillthemessenger
