Happy Almost-Friday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing a tiny dab of Parfum d'Empire Corsica Furiosa. And I will be spending most of the day in the car, heading for the first of the two short summer vacations I will take this year. It is possible that I will post again today, but equally possible that I will not, in which case, see you tomorrow! (And meantime, don't forget to enter the contest for the Tauer Rose Delight.)
Reminder: on 6/24, we're doing A House Divided — wear two fragrances from the same house, but don't layer (one on each wrist, or whatever). Suggested by Lisa D.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
House Divided: SSS Cacoa Sandlewood & Spiced Citrus Vetiver
Tea: Cherry Blossom Green tea
Happy Thursday Beautiful people
Nice! Love the scents and love the tea!
Nice combo!
Thank you! The Spiced Citrus is now finished.. 🙁
Au Masculin Fraicheur (Lolita Lempicka). Have a good vacation! 🙂
Thank you! So far so good — long but easy drive today and have been fed a good dinner.
Giacobetti Day 4 – Elixir. Oh, and next week, AND the week after, I’ll be trying out as many ways as possible to do sod all on the Greek island of Corfu. I know, I know, it’s so exciting!
You don’t say. Why didn’t you mention this sooner? 😀
It must have slipped my mind!
Have a great time !
Enjoy!! I will get to Greece SOMEDAY!! 🙂
Happy Thursday! Is the green for Ireland?
The Hermes house is divided between Santal Massoia and Brin de Reglisse. And it’ll be a nerve-wrecking night here in Brussels ahead of the referendum results (I’ll stop here :)).
You smell great
I really need to try more of the Hermes line, even if I do think Elena creates expensive bottled air.
Hope your perfumes give you strength to get through the day.
I haven’t tried any of the Hermessence offerings but after reading your comment on longevity I may NOT actively seek them out…..unless of course one of these days I happen to pass by an Hermes store….
Most of them are very faint on me except Cuir d’Ange, which lasts a little longer. I’ve only tried a couple though and in general I think they are way overpriced for being such lightweight scents. Granted, that’s what Ellena is after, but it’s not really my thing. I think it depends on chemistry as well. Some people may have better luck with longevity than I do.
Hey, you’re back from…the Grand Canyon?
Grand Teton/ Yellowstone. Grand Canyon is on our list of upcoming parks to visit 🙂
Ah, we are thinking of going to the Tetons the middle of July for a couple of days. How was it up there now? I haven’t been in several years.
meredifay – It’s still as beautiful as always, but extremely crowded. This year is the centennial of the National Park Service, so the parks are crawling with tourists this year. It’ll probably be pretty hot there too. We most had mild temps, but it was hot on the last day and only going to get hotter after we left.
Very nice pairing.
Fingers crossed! It’s looking better than it did last week but I’ll be switching on the TV at about 5.30am with some nerves….
I really like Santal Massoia. Brin de Reglisse was a bit aggressively licorice when I smelled it on card but no doubt mellows on skin?
Love Brin!
Yep, it will be. I think you should wear some 31 Rue Cambon or Cuir de Russie, that’ll help you keep your cool. Bon courage.
I will refrain from getting started, but heck, the world is going through some serious mess!
No, the green was for the Corsica Furiosa!
Enjoy your vacation, Robin.
We’re cousins today although I was more daring with volume.
SOTD = L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse
I was lucky enough to grab a bottle at the L’Occitane store in Brussels in late 2012, after searching high and low for it in the U. S. This sadly discontinued beauty is an explosion of immortelle from Corsica, honey, benzoin and well-behaved musk. I used 4 sprays so I’m in a soft fragrant cloud.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s challenge!
We are immortelle cousins…although I am a House Divided…
Atelier Blanche Immortelle…(love it and I am getting great longevity) and Atelier Ambre Nue (not such great longevity)…..
Hey cousin! Love Blanche Immortelle but don’t wear it enough.
Blanche Immortelle lasts forever on me. So does the Sous le Toit….
Ambre Nue is my favorite Atelier — I find it somewhat related to Hermes Eau de Merveilles but not sparkly. You smell great!
Sounds delicious! I’d be happy basking in your cloud today.
Thanks! Someone at Starbucks oozed Terre d’Hermes and Immortelle de Corse stood up to it.
Benzoin! *ears perked up*
:-). You could be describing T-Rex.
Such a shame they did not keep that one in production, it was one of the better scents they ever did.
Finally – I made it this week. SOTD inspired by the Tauer drawing: Maroc pour Elle. Mmm. I love this one! Warm spicy, roses, jasmine, patch…. gorgeous!!
I hope you received my mail. I am wearing Acqua di Parma Iris EdP, more or less non stop since your package arrived. Smitten…And there is much more to try, but my craving for this gorgeous scent needs to lessen somewhat before I move on. Big enabler pin on your hat!
I just saw it and replied. I am so glad you like the Iris Nobile! It’s a real stunner and one of my fav iris fragrances. I hadn’t worn mine in a while and when I made your sample, I realized that it must be the inspiration for the Cartier La Panthere which is very much similar to it. If you change the iris for gardenia/white flower they are almost identical. I am always happy to earn my enabler pin!
Le Maroc is wonderful, you smell great!
Thank you!
Comcast guy had to come out and replace the cable, five days of
Wi-fi dropping every 45 minutes. Fingers crossed.
Don’t know what to wear today, feeling ambivalent about everythAng.
Will peruse the collection and see who jumps up and screams, “Me, me, ME !!” 😉
Comcast is the WORST!!! Consumer Reports has them down at the bottom….the cable monopoly really needs to end!
Amen.
Ack yes. In my small Midwest community it’s the only game in town, so frustrating!
Ugh, so sorry you’re dealing with that. We have the same issue in our office and no matter how many times I scream at them that we’re a digital marketing company and the fact the their outages are costing us money – they still don’t do anything (let alone reimburse us for the time lost unless I really scream my head off).
Thanks chocolatemarzipan and Jenkr !
I was going to b!tch about not paying the full monthly fee, but I want to hope this resolves the issue.
And I want to be calm and count my blessings. ( First world problems etc.).
But to be that cavalier about a business Jenkr, that doesn’t make them seem professional and competent.
At what point has Comcast ever been professional and competent is what I want to know. One time I called about an outage and the guy was so stupid I had to ask him: Aren’t you going to ask me what my account number is so you know the area I’m in? He was so dopey about it I then told him to go back to bed and I’ll call back to get a rep who actually doesn’t sound like stoned out idiot.
jenkr- I am sure that if Comcast had to reimburse every customer we would be seeing a lot less issues!
That’s a fact. I’m a total slave driver though when it comes to customer service for this sort of stuff and knowing that Comcast is the worst I bring out ALL the fire and brimstone when talking to them. I call and scream and no matter how many times they hang up on me, I call back and scream some more and until they say they’ll reimburse me just to get me to shut up. 😉
The customer service is REALLY bad….our original provider (20 years ago?) was good but then they were taken over by another company which was taken over by another company which was taken over by Comcast…now we are stuck with them….and it is awful…..
Mitsouko just insisted on being worn today, as it will. Sometimes I think it’s my favourite scent ever.
Mitsouko does make some demands at times. You smell great.
I know it is my favorite and I wear it all year long. Sometimes I just need it.
Whatever Mitsouko wants, Mitsouko gets. 🙂
You just literally made me laugh out loud. Mitsouko is THE most demanding, willful scent I know of. Perhaps that’s why we love it so much?
That’s my reason, surely. I view her as a petulant and glowering young Lauren “Baby” Bacall…
Just do what she says, and no one will get hurt! ????
It’s going to be a hot one today in my neck of the woods — 88 degrees, and its only 8:25 am.
I’m wearing Bath & Bodyworks Frosted Winter Woods body lotion. Its a pretty mix of balsams and lots of citrus. I guess I’m trying to fool my body into feeling cooler 🙂
Robin, have fun on your vacation!! Safe travels.
Oh that sounds really good! Was it a limited edition?
I think it was part of BBW Christmas time scents. I hope they bring it back.
I have the bath gel and the body lotion, and I love the way my bathroom smells like citrus & pine when I use this.
Thank you! I have driven into cooler weather…actually wearing a sweater right now.
Good day.
I’m in Tam Dao today, which was the scent I wore when I took off for vacation/honeymoon last (6/11) Saturday. We got back at 2 am Monday morning and I’ve been sluggishly dragging myself through work since Tuesday. It was totally a – I need a vacation from my vacation – type of return.
We logged over 60 miles of hiking through Grand Teton and Yellowstone and saw some awesome critters – the pine marten being the most adorable (and rare).
Robin, I hope you have relaxing and enjoyable vacations.
Sounds like an amazing hike! Good for you!
Thanks. It was a lot of fun. We’d been there before, but it was really nice doing different trails and seeing different things this time.
🙂 Good for you
Sounds like a wonderful (although exhausting) vacation. Luckily the weekend is near!
It was exhausting, but in a good way. We’d do longer, more strenuous hikes in the mornings (before the crowds hit) and then have a nice lunch and chill out with shorter walks in the afternoon and generally relax.
That’s a lot if hiking! Sounds like a great trip. Coming back to work is always such a shock to the system. Anyway, welcome back!
It is a lot of hiking, but it was very rewarding as well. We saw a lot of beautiful areas of the parks and lots of wildlife.
Shock to the system is right. Flying back on Sunday we had a 6 hour layover and didn’t land home until 2 am and then had to drive back to the ‘burbs. I got to be around 4 am. Luckily I took off Monday to recover, but even on Tuesday I still had that gross airport “hangover” feeling.
Sounds absolutely wonderful! And seeing a Pine Marten- That’s certainly an auspicious occasion! Hope your boss lets ease back into things gently ????
They are such cute little critters! I want one! At first, we were really confused as to what we were looking at. There was a black squirrel screaming it’s head off and when I went to look for it I found the marten instead and was so confused! My husband got some really adorable photos of it and we didn’t know what it was until after we’d gotten back to the lodge (internet access) to figure out if it was weasel, a stoat, or what… (it’s a type of weasel technically). We read that they are really rare to find in the parks anymore, so we kinda took that as our “unicorn sighting” of the trip. 🙂
serendipity 🙂
Very impressed by your hike! I’ve recently been having those fantasies about hiking in Mongolia…
I hope you get some proper rest!
!! I would love to go hiking in Mongolia! I’ll go hiking just about anywhere actually with a great view. The hubs and I have never been the relax-at-the-beach type of vacationers. We like to go do things and pack trips full of sights. The first couple of days were rough, but my legs got used to it and by the time we did Mt. Washburn with its 1400 ft elevation change (basically you go up the mountain and down again) I was ready.
I finally got some decent sleep last night, but I have a feeling I’ll really pass out this weekend.
Welcome back!! It’s been 21 years since I’ve been to Yellowstone….I need to get back there!!! BEAUTIFUL place!!!
Thank you. We went 5 years ago and decided we liked it so much it was worth going back (mostly Grand Teton, but of course we’d got to Yellowstone because it’s next door). It’s MEGA crowded this year though because it’s the centennial of the National Park Service (August 25th). We did a lot of our hikes early to avoid the huge crowds.
Vacation from your vacation, ha! I know exactly how that can be. Sometimes I pack way too much into our vacations which leads to exhaustion, a good exhaustion but tiring nonetheless.
Hope it was a lovely time!
Indeed. We did a lot of hiking, but we paced everything out nicely. Most mornings were busy with hikes and evenings were spent fattening up on good food and drink for the next day’s hike 😉
Perfect! Sounds like you’ve created some lovely memories.
Pine martens deserve to be crowned Cutest Mammal In Existence. I love them!
Seriously! My husband took some great photos (he had the telephoto lens on his camera) and everyone I’ve shown the photos to has said: I WANT ONE!!!
I googled them and I WANT ONE!
Sounds like quite a hike!!
So glad you had a good trip!
Serge Lutens A la nuit
Lovely!
You smell beautiful! Will you be choosing Serge for the challenge tomorrow?
Getting a jump on A House Divided: On one arm, Bois des Iles (it won’t be too hot today!) and on the other, 31 Rue Cambon.
You smell elegant!
Yeah, baby!
Excellent split.
Oh! You’ve inspired me. Sometime soon I need to do your BdI and 31RC pairing. I’m trying to understand these two, and so far they’ve been difficult for me.
Oh, nice! Just *thinking* about that is enjoyable!
I’m testing out my new Maria Candida Gentile samples: Rrose Selavy (huge herbal rose) on one wrist, Elephant & Roses (soft musky rose) on the other. So far I like them both very much, although the E&R is being overpowered by the RS.
I like RS quite a bit, but couldn’t do the animal note in E&R.
The animal note is really subtle to my nose, mostly just musky (and I like musk).
Rrose Selavy has a menthol thing going on that I just can’t get into, though I do find it interesting.
I know others have said the same thing about it. The menthol is lost on me. Although not sure it would bother me if it stood out. I’m a fan of Vick’s VapoRub.
Stressed all day about storms but they missed us! Coromandel was lovely and helpful in keeping me calm. Today I have Le Galion snob on my left wrist and Aesthete on my right. It’s actually working rather well together; all pretty citrus and floral on the one side and rich smokey goodness on the right.
So glad the storms stayed away from you! Bad weather always makes me nervous.
🙂
Glad the storms missed you! I’m in Le Galion Eau Noble. I might add some Whip when I get home to meet the challenge.
Happy holiday, Robin!
How is the Eau Nobile? I have a sample of Whip, too, which I like.
Thank goodness the weather behaved near you! I hate that kind of nervous anxiety, waiting for the worse!
🙂
Tornado actually touched down very close to where I am. Unfortunately, I still have to drain my pool.
Bummer! I had so hoped for he miracle pool cleaning for you!
It’s almost 10 in the morning here and it’s 79 degrees and really muggy. I was thinking of A La Nuit today because I do want to wear a jasmine bomb but it’s too muggy for a jasmine bomb, Should I go with Sarrasins, the leather/jasmine mix or go with the jasmine bomb?
I would always vote for Sarrasins over A La Nuit 🙂 Although I am not sure it is much better for your weather 🙂 It is interesting, I kind of imagine horse stable notes would be underscored when muggy…but I have not really tried.
I wear A la nuit in the summer even when it’s hot and humid and I love it even more then as it develops fully. Bear in mind
Current formula is lighter than the original, which was a lot more potent and indolic. If your bottle is new you’ll be fine.
I would pick A la nuit
I actually prefer A La Nuit in humidity. It doesn’t vanish as quickly as it does in drier weather.
A House Divided: Vanille 44 on one arm, and Rose 31 on the other.
I like both quite a bit, and I’d definitely wear either or both if I had bottles, but I’m glad I don’t feel a need to buy one (for now, at least).
My fav from that house is Ylang49
Me too.
Sampling Wardi from The Scented Djinn which is a warm peachy floral.
How about a Two by Two project comparing the same note from two different houses?
Oh, I like that idea!
I second that!
Sweet redemption by Kilian today. I used to really like it, but I guess I cooled off. Might swap it, or something.
It did not quite die, but I got tired and dabbed Cuir Iris by Parfumerie Generale, a sample of which I unexpectedly found in my purse. I can’t smell iris, which is normal for me, but leather is really nice
Or wait a few months…sometimes the love returns!
I’m testing Charenton Macerations Asphalt Rainbow. Not as daring as I thought it would be, but does have nods to spray paint and wet concrete, though not obviously. The overall effect to me is a stylized rose, synthetic in the best possible way. Me likes!
I really want to try this one. I need to order a sample. I really liked Christopher Street and this one sounds equally quirky – in a good way.
I think AR is less distinctive than CS, but definitely worth sampling. I’m finding it pretty addictive.
cool name!
Feels like early fall today. Wearing Chance eau Vive. I actually really like this for the summer. It’s cheerful but not to perky. Enjoy your vacation Robin!
Thank you!
Wearing Serge Lutens Santal majuscule today. Lovely!
And just read news about a new SL export Baptême du Feu, looking forward to smell it sometime in the autumn. Not sure about the ginger though. But I’ll try it anyway, the sucker I am for SL.
Santal majuscule did not work for me, but I recently purchased a small decant of Santal Blanc (not yet arrived) so hopping this one is more my style. I do love sandalwood, so we’ll see.
Nice one! Got a bottle of Santal blanc just before it vanished into the non-export. Lovely that one too, sweet, a bit pungent, creamy, warm. Quite beautiful. Hope that it fits you. Santal de mysore is the one I least like of the Lutens sandalwoods, too spicy.
Robin, you smell top shelf wonderful!
SOTD is Queen, which is an oriental that’s quite wearable in the swamp. Happy Almost Friday Day to all! ????
Deva you are a Queen today 🙂
I’m in YSL Cinema today, and thinking about this plus M7 for tomorrow’s theme. It kind of depends on the weather report though, as that combo would probably be stifling in hot temperatures. We’ll see!
Participating in A House Divided a day early by wearing mostly Shalimar Parfum Initial but also vintage Shalimar EDC on the left arm. The differences are mighty but they are not displeasing together. My vintage bottle is showing its age by not having much of a top and going right to the yummy base.
ooo I love Initial. you smell great!
SOTD is Givenchy Le De, one of my ‘fancy lady’ scents. Need some reserve for the day.
I love Le De. You smell super fancy-schmancy!
I’m wearing another Hermes Un Jardin, this time En Mediterranee. This and Womanity are the only two fig scents that I own that I like. So far, I have discovered that the two notes that I just can’t stand in most fragrances are fig and vanilla. There are exceptions of course, but I am lucky to discover them, living as I do in a place without direct access to samples and chances to sniff before buying.
The only fig I have been able to tolerate so far is Premier Figuer, which I actually love.
I used to hate fig in perfume but En Mediterranee turned me around, it’s a great scent.
Enjoy your vacation, Robin — you smell great! I’m a day behind with the Pantone inspiration, in Azemour les Orangers as the day’s heat begins to build.
Thank you! And of course you do too.
First off, enjoy your vacation, Robin!
I too will be on vacation after today and then returning to chaos with administrative upheaval so I may not be commenting as often as normal…
Just wanted to wish all of you lovely smelling people a peaceful and content summer 🙂 !!!
Same to you! I’ll miss your enthusiasm ????
LOL! You mean my “obsessive nature” 🙂 ????
Lol. That wasn’t a euphemism. I think we’re all a little obsessed here ????
Oh and Robin I just read your review of your SOTD and my nose perked up when I read “tomato leaf” but then saw that it is only available in 100ml and said , maybe I will pass on even sampling……
I will be thinking of you as I sample all these Providence Co samples, I have more natural perfume samples on the way and will take notes for ya! 😉
Oh yes! Please do….I always love your take on the naturals 🙂
and enjoy those babes this summer and stay cool in the city!!!!
Enjoy your vacation!
It’s never fun to come back knowing you’ll have a ton of work to deal with, but try not to let that damper your good time away.
Thank you…and it sounds like you have had a wonderful vacation too!
Have a great time!
Thank you 🙂
Have a great vacation!
Have a wonderful time!
SOTD: vintage Lagerfeld Cologne (I think it’s now labeled Lagerfeld Classic). Shortlist of notes: bergamot, nutmeg, sweet orange, tarragon, tobacco, woods, tonka, jasmine, iris, vanilla, musk. Spicy and comfortable for grey-day wear.
Racking my brain (and my scent cabinet) for likely ‘fumes for tomorrow’s challenge. Dior? Coty? Tauer? Tokyo Milk? Aaaagh. I’m going to table the question and see what surfaces in the morning.
Blast from the past….vintage Lagerfeld…..mmmmmm
Oh, so nice. Have a peaceful vacation before the workstorm!
The vintage Lagerfield Cologne sounds fabulous!
It’s so lovely and spicy. Spicebomb’s less-sweet but way-cool uncle.
Decanted some of the Beige extrait, spritzed it on, and am off to work in my limousine. Dang! It’s just a city bus…
hahaha! you’re making that city bus chic with your Beige! you smell great.
City bus = STRETCH limo!!!! 🙂
🙂
Robin,
Have a wonderful vacation.
My SOTD is Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte.
Thank you so much!
I’m participating in a house divided today (and I’ve gone more my little pony with it, say than, GoT.) I’m wearing Mademoiselle Guerlain on my left hand –which is a reissue of LPRN no. 2 (another sample from the Guerlain event,) and LPRN Original on my right hand which is thanks to a lovely perfume fairy. 🙂 We’ll see how this all ends up. Might be some bloodshed.
🙂
Good morning y’all! Another steaming hot day in HOTlanta! 🙂
SOTD: Bvlgari’s Omnia Paraiba. I keep going back to it!
I’m noticing that I tend to really get into fragrances in the fall and winter….in the summer, many of my favorite perfumes put me off. Maybe it’s the hot heavy air? Anyway, there’s only a handful that I still get into this time of year!
That one is becoming your signature scent
I think one of the girlies helped herself and messed up the sprayer…it squirted today! LOL! It’s settling down now….
A lot of scents put me off in the summer too. It’s hard to enjoy fragrance when the weather feels swampish and you know your scent will dissipate inside of two minutes after being outside – no matter how much you spray on. So I just stick to lighter scents and colognes in the summer – whenever I remember to put them on. Sometimes the heat just melts my brain and I forget a lot of the time or can’t be bothered.
Twins! I just got my bottle yesterday and even though I have a cold and can barely smell it, had to spritz some!
Still smitten by Gourmand Coquin. Second day in a row!!
Love.
This scent.. I’m addicted. I will eventually purchase a FB, or close to it.
What is it like?
I like how LizzieB describes it, a boozy chocolate. 🙂
Boozy dark chocolate!!!
Ooo, yum!
SOTD is No. 19. Makes me feel all ladylike.
Cousins! I’m in No19 Poudre.
You both smell lovely.
Have a great trip, Robin!
Sampling Annick Goutal Vetiver Cologne today, which is somehow managing to be simultaneously salty, earthy, and fresh.
Thank you! And that’s a good one.
Hi hope everyone is well? I’ve spent the last couple of days in Corsica with little to no internet and almost no perfume. Just enjoying the warm temps and sun with the scents of pool, ocean, hot pebbles and sunscreen witn the occasional flowery shrub and tree thrown in, heavenly! But today was a day trip to a seaside town, so a dab of Lys Mediterrane it was.
No internet= perfect time to me-
everyone needs time to de-plug and enjoy themselves.
I second that! No technology or technological breaks are really good from time to time!
So true, I haven’t minded not having any and I look forward to catching up when I get back
Corsica! So jealous! Enjoy!!
Thanks! The landscapeis just gorgeous. I’ll definitely be back.
Sounds perfect!
Have a good and restful break Robin!
Thank you!
Wearing the last of my sample of Chanel No19 Poudre (although, I think if I hold the vial just right I may be able to get one more wearing out of it). I hinted strongly to my husband that if he wanted to buy me a spectacular gift, this would be greatly appreciated. . .
that’s a great way to put it, “a spectacular gift”
I need to try that one!
i love that one
I have a bottle and would be happy to send you a bit more should that spectacular gift not materialize. 😉
Half-Christmas is this Saturday!
Just put on a bit of Boy…
At first whiff, I got lemon, lavender and some memories of my aunt wearing Jean Nate when I was little.
Now some pepper and vanilla.
It is allegedly an EDP 😉 we shall see how it wears.
Speaking of EDPs, I assume with so many different SAs weighing in there really will be some changes w/ the Exclusifs later this year. Was wondering what plans people have for stockpiling please? Do we think the extraits will be affected too? Perhaps price if not formulation.
I’m curious how the EDPs will affect extrait prices as well. Considering the EDPs are looking to be more than the current extraits – unless I saw the pricing wrong.
I confess to running out and buying the parfum of Beige sheerly due to the price-panic rumours. Chanel doesn’t usually indulge in “Buy them before they’re gone!” sales techniques, so I took them at their word.
I saw you chose the extrait for your limo ride into work today. 😉
How do you like it compared to the EDT please?
“Richer” seems to be the mot juste for the extrait. Not that the edt is exactly skimpy or cheap, but I think it’s just lighter, with less of a drydown. Also figured I would use 15 ml in a reasonable length of time, instead of the year&years for 75 ml. We will completely ignore price differences in these calculations…
I too have succumbed to the rumours and bought some 31 Rue Cambon. I’ll be kicking myself if the change to an EDP isn’t a label change only and they manage to improve it even further. I’m guessing that this is a very slim chance though so glad to have more on hand.
Will you let me sniff you one time when you’re wearing this one? Everyone is always lauding it here????
I’ll bring you some. Spreading the word is my mission in life.
aw, thanks! I’m leaving tomorrow for a week, but I’m sure we’ll do a meetup again soon…
Twins Robin! Although I have a lot more on than you.???? I’m coming to the end of my decant and trying to decide if this warrants a FB.
Last night was a house divided with Onda extrait on one arm and Rubj extrait on the other, from my dabber samples. I love them both. What to do?!
I would go for a split with you if you’re thinking of going down that route 😉
Oh which are you after? Or both? We might have to confer . . .
Hey twin! I would have worn more if my son were not going to be stuck in a car with me all day.
Nice mom. ????
I am wearing Chanel No. 5 body oil layered with vintage edt and enjoying my week off.
You smell wonderful! Enjoy your time this week 🙂
That body oil is amazing!’
It’s another 100 degree day, and I’m wearing Byredo’s Oliver Peoples, which I love in hot weather and am “meh” to when the temperature goes below 80F. I have a decant of the 2015 version, and there’s a new release that just came out, but as far as I can tell, only the colors of the bottles have changed, not the juice itself. This confuses me.
I announced them as new scents, but pretty sure it turns out they are just new colored bottles.
Just had to go to Sprouts market for apricots, peaches, and strawberries. Stopped off in the store to spritz from the Pacifica testers:
Left SotD: Tuscan Blood Orange
Right SotD: French Lilac
The blood orange is so zesty and juicy it makes me want to lick my arm. The lilac starts out very much as fresh lilacs but then settles down to not much at all.
I don’t know where you are but apricots from the west coast of the US have been wonderful this year!
Yep, that’s where I’m at. 🙂 The apricots even smell wonderful this year.
I just love, love apricots! Especially love California dried apricots year round!
I love apricots so much. As a kid I was given the job each summer of climbing an apricot tree while holding a basket to fill. I ate as much as I could before climbing down with my haul. I’d do it again each day for what seemed like weeks. Although I tried to eat my own weight in apricots, my mom saved enough fruit to make jam, and she bottled apricot halves in sugar syrup, too.
I do, too. I much prefer the California dried to the Turkish ones. Which means a trip to Trader Joe’s.
Yay for TJ’s dried California apricots. And they had a new mango tangerine candle for sale the last time I was there. It smelled so good I wanted to eat it.
UWS Trader Joe’s doesn’t stock them anymore! Every time I go in there there’s none.
🙁
That’s no good. The closest one to me is Union Square and I won’t go there. It’s always just madness.
Funny, I was never a big apricot person. Prefer the dried. But I LOVE pluots, which are abundant in CA. Not so much in NY…
Rosine Un Zest de Rose today and boy, is it lovely. I’ve recommended it often to someone looking for a light, pretty summer floral but have ignored my bottle for far too long. It will segue nicely with whatever I decide to dab on later, I have a day off today and am enjoying a favorite summer activity for hot humid days, listening to the hum of the air conditioner while I watch old movies. Very self indulgent. Enjoy your well deserved vacation, Robin!
Nice. I wore Rose d’Ecume this week and was reminded how good it is for summer.
Sounds like a perfect day. I haven’t explored the Rosines except Rose Praline, which I really liked and one other that was a fresh garden rose-can’t remember which, though.
It is lovely. I bought a bottle in 2007 after eyeing it for a long time. Then I promptly decided something in it bugged me. And made me wheeze So, I only wore it layered with Aliage… ! which actually works well. But, I recently started wearing it again on its own…happily… No wheezing.
SOTD is L`Eau à la Folie. Happy summer is here as this is one of my favorites to wear this time of year.
Have a great vacation, Robin!
Love that one! Fresh (but not too fresh) and fruity. You smell great!
You smell nice. I blasted through a bottle of that a couple of summers ago. Love it.
Thank you!
I’m in Timbuktu today, thanks to whoever wore it yesterday.
Trying to bribe myself to leave the house (but it’s so hot) and get work done. Maybe pizza will work? Ugh.
Late to the party today. I’m wearing Songes, which is wonderful every day but especially on hot and muggy days like today. Lovely.
I bought a Japanese oolong today, that I’m very excited about and got a sample of black Japanese tea.
Lovely
100% gorgeous!
I’m wearing Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection by ELdO today from a tiny decant. I’m really enjoying this one so it’s going on my theoretical and constantly evolving buy list. I also need to begin thinking about tomorrow’s challenge.
So glad you like that one! I was totally wrong in my prediction, lol. Of course, I think you smell fantastic (and will be happy to tide you over ????).
Oh, thanks Elisa. You’re very sweet to offer. The EldO’s are wallet busters so I’ll probably just buy a bottle. I want to get at least one more Chanel before the price hike so that will be my next buy.
are NOT wallet busters… Ugh… 🙂
Ha! I was going to say they’re practically free 🙂
Enjoy your vacation, Robin!
It’s gray and blustery here so I picked Tihota this morning. It’s making me want something sweet and I think I’ll make a berry cobbler later on.
Tihota’s swoon-worthy, and berry cobbler sounds like the perfect complement
Thanks!
I’m taking advantage of very cloudy weather today and wearing Aläia, courtesy of a generous perfume fairy. Lovely!
I’m curious if you like it? Are you glad that you didn’t blind buy it? BTW, the bottle is gorgeous.
I really like it–thanks!! It starts out spicier (at least on me?) than I expected, but I was right in thinking I’d like it. I can see what Luca Turin meant about it seeming to develop backwards. I’m grateful for the sample because I’m convinced that I have a blind-buy-success quota, and my luck will run out! Good to know the bottle is as good as it looks in pictures, too.
I’m wearing a house undivided — I tried Mona di Orio Rose Etoile de Hollande (I blind bought a mini) and DO NOT LIKE. tried layering MDO Oud over it but of course I still mostly smell the rose I DO NOT LIKE.
Looks like I’ve got a swapper or freebie in my future.
Had to run errands yesterday so I stopped at the local WalMart, which is exotic for someone who lives in NYC. I ended up buying a bottle of the pink Love 2 Love scent because someone mentioned how that line has real perfumers… This is peach and rose. So, okay, the longevity isn’t great…or I just need to spray with more abandon. But it is nice. Calice Becker did it. So, wearing it today as I continue errands in the heat….
I’m always completely amazed when I visit family and go to a WalMart or something similar. The width of the aisles, and the shelves stocked with an item in all its many varieties vs. our 2-3 pieces of one kind. It’s so funny.
I know. I used to run to Target as soon as I arrived. This Walmart has been redesigned since last time I went in years ago…it is just that much out of the way… The grocery section with fresh fruit, veggies, etc. is much, much larger.
My husband was here for a few days and got lost in the Safeway because it so huge….
I thought that one was nice, too. Lasts about 45 minutes on me so I didn’t buy it, but… you know, nice.
Good morning ratbags! It’s Friday and town is filling up with blokey bloke types because there is a test match between the All Blacks and Wales tomorrow ( or today? ) That’s rugby, by the way…zzzzzzzz. Why can’t I live in a country where bird watching is the national sport? Seriously, imagine how mellow everyone would be.
Meanwhile, it’s Daim Blond vs. Bois de Vanille here. The BdV is on its last dribble andI don’t know whether or not to replace it. I would like a smokier vanilla or a tobacco vanilla …any suggestions? Even a lavender vanilla. Or a boozy vanilla.
I can tolerate sevens now and then–because it’s over in 14 minutes! ???? (That said, I think the All Blacks are cool.) Yep, a country with bird watching for a national sport would be mellow, indeed.
Poetry reading could be good, too.
I like Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille…i think it is more tobacco than vanille though
Thanks – checking it out!
In the US, I suppose it is the equivalent of living in a college town with a big-time football program. In some cases, the population doubles… And then you add in the marching bands, etc…. I love the atmosphere, but not sure near my home…. Bird watching would be pleasant…kind of requires quiet….
We have bagpipe competitions because Dunedin is the Edinburgh of the South
Ligea la Sirena by Carthusia is a lavender vanilla, sort of smoky and won’t break the bank for the EDT, at least by today’s standards.
Thanks
I like sevens too.
Feuilles de tabac, grabbed at random from the sample cup, but perfect for a drippy cool day….
Leaving tomorrow to see my family and loads to do before then!
Have a great visit. Hope all is well!
Thanks! No baby yet, perhaps it’s trying to beat your record 😉
Lonesome Rider, again, a little too much smoke up front, then really quiet later, ok, but not my favorite Tauer, by a long shot…
Yeah, those are my sentiments too. Pleasant but not my favorite of the collection.
Lolita Lempicka l’eau Jolie, a very faint inoffensive fruity floral. I have a weakness for the LL bottles, even when the juice is uninspired. This is fine for a hot day, though.
Sospiro Melodia, after a long bike ride today.
Hermes Neroli Doré. It’s so hot today, the leather in this is more prominent than usual.
Diors of our Lives: A House Divided. Episode 4.
In previous episodes, Fève Délicieuse married Granville Dior, flaky brother of ambitious Eau Noire, in the hope of playing a leading part in the company Eau Noire had wrested from the failing grasp of Dune. But when Granville succeeded in holding his own, Fève was reduced to simpering sweetly in the corner and biding her time. Now read on…
Freed of Granville’s restraining influence, voluptuous Fève Délicieuse sought at first to dominate through force of character. But as things heated up (32 degrees in Paris today, phew) Fève struggled to retain focus. She might know she had praline, caramel or tonka to offer, but somehow only a bland syrup oozed out. And how strange, she wondered, that her mysterious new business partner, silver fox Vintage Homme, seemed to share so many of her own traits. Oh, the horror! A DNA analysis by her secret agent Fragrantica revealed that Fève and Homme shared chocolate, lavender and leather genes. They were related! Alarmed that she had sought to pair with a close relative, and despondent at her performance in the heat, Fève fled for cooler climes. But what will Vintage Homme do now? Tune in tomorrow for the last terrible unravelling of the House of Dior.
????????????????
Lol!
Brilliant! ????
Love your these House Divided soap operas. Also love your regular reviews and rating system.
Ever consider publishing them in one place? Transfer them fromhere into a blog space of your own? Like Turin’s new blog, you wouldn’t have to enable comments. That way, no fuss, no spam.
I’d read that blog.
Nah, I can only do it here because Robin does all the blogging legwork and you guys give me something to bounce my ideas off. But I am flattered by the suggestion. :^)
