Another week begins... plus, it's International Louie Louie Day, celebrating the birthday of Richard Berry. What fragrance are you wearing?
It took awhile to find it, but I'm in The Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose.
Reminder: On 4/15 we're wearing rose for What's in a name, part 1 ("What's in a name? That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet").
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
The Kingsmen version of Louie Louie is below. You can read about the FBI's investigation into the lyrics at NPR. If you have even more time to kill, check out VH1's Louie-Palooza: 11 Killer Covers for International “Louie Louie” Day.
Infusion de Vetiver (Prada)
Is it transparent in the style of the Infusion d’Iris?
Yes. It really doesn’t have that much vetiver in it, but still maintains that transparency.
Ooh, then it is very Daniela Andrier. I was very surprised by the weightles quality of Candy and Luna Rossa. I like her style. Even with chunks of things she is anosmic to, she pulls it off ingeniously.
Totally agree!
Maybe being anosmic makes her more leery of heavy-handedness.
And I forgot about the Rose theme this week, but there is still time to mend my ways! 🙂
Ha, the only rose I could wear is Portrait of A Lady. I like to smell Nahéma parfum and Une Rose. Just not able to take in the big cosmetic rose od Eternity, Trésor, Paris or probably Madame Grojsman’s roses — I absolutely cannot imagine putting those on skin. They smell much better on others.
I never cared for Eternity or Tresor. I knew a guy years ago who would get totally crazed with “love” if he smelled a gal wearing YSL Paris. I think that Rosine’s “Homme” is a fantastic rose for a man. It’s deep, rich and sensual. I used up a whole decant a few years ago. You should find it if you can.
Parfum de Rosine? Ah, I have heard that they focus on roses in various incarnations for a century. I shall, thank you, AnnS, for the suggestion!
I see vetiver in fragrances marketed to women, but traditionally feminine flowers rendered for men are still short – orris is a rhizome, so it does not count! It would be interesting to see more of these norm-defiant fragrances like Boutonière No.7, for which I am searching. Tuberose for men? Ylang Ylang for men? Jasmine for men? Violet for men?
I am so with you, love masculine florals (Boutonniere No 7 is the most recent addition to my collection!) Have you tried Ormonde Jayne Sampaquita? I’ve long thought it would smell great on a guy.
Also, Rose 31 of course. And Grain de Musc makes a great pitch for MFK Lumiere Noire Pour Homme here: http://graindemusc.blogspot.com/2009/09/lumiere-noire-pour-femme-and-lumiere.html Several of the MFK masculines are probably good candidates, actually, given his affection for flowering trees–APOM Homme particularly but also Amyris Homme.
Oh: Serge Fleurs d’Oranger is prob worth trying! The cumin butches it up a bit 🙂
This is an eye-opener. I ought to write these down to look up. I think there is more presence of brands in the US than in Switzerland.
Daria’s amazing worldwide guide might be able to help you find some of these at least!
http://your-perfume-guide.blogspot.com/search/label/Switzerland
Or First in Fragrance sends samples to Switzerland, but unfortunately it looks kind of expensive, and I’m not sure how much juice you get for the price (maybe someone else who has ordered from FiF can chime in on what their samples are like?) http://www.ausliebezumduft.de/proben/?___store=english&___from_store=german
I used to hate rose, but something clicked and now it is one of my favorite notes. I like rose more dirty than pretty. Funny that you mentioned Infusion d’Iris, I have a bottle of the extrait and have decided that I just “can’t” do it. I like iris, but not as the star.
Tuberose isn’t technically a masculine note, but it is my favorite of the big white florals. I wear Cedre (Serge Lutens) a lot, and also dig both Chinatown and Success (Bond no. 9).
I dig Chinatown too 🙂 !
Tauer Incense Rose today. I put it on early this morning and just a bit so that it could calm down to office appropriate. Almost.
I have not decided on this morning’s tea, but I am eyeing an Uva Highlands Ceylon.
Good choices!
I really love Incense Rose, to my surprise (as a relative incense-phobe.)
Thank you for the links to the links, C.H.
Happy to help! Hope you find something good–let us know how the search goes! 🙂
Rose 31 is from Le Labo, isn’t it? The funny thing is that I had to ask a lady who was in front of me buying some pastries what her perfume was. She replied in the haughtiest of French voice: ‘le lavo rosée trente-et-un’. And switched to German: ‘I bought it in New York.’
Snobbery aside, she smelled great! 😀
I started Rose week yesterday with PHI Rose de Kandahar and it was soooo good… I think I will join you today in Incense Rose!
I need to retest this one and Une Rose Chypree. Guess I may join in rose week after all.
After a week’s vacation my SOTD is Amouage Ubar. Which apparently contains rose. I think godzilla floral, or humongous floral fit the fragrance to a tee. This is big and bold.
I liked it better when it was godzilla sandalwood, but the new version is fun too.
I like Ubar a lot, but I like, but for me its heavy on the Jasmine then the rose..
You smell fantastic
I feel the same way – far more jasmine than rose for me, too.
Ubar is humongous!
Did you have a good holiday?
Yes I did, thanks for asking.
Welcome back!
Thanks!
Nice to see you! My to-do list for today has 6 items, including: drink the tea(s) sent by Austenfan.
🙂
Forgot about rose week!
Well, after an uber-dosing of Bergamot & Oud I finished yet another bottle….and I gifted away my 3/4 full bottle of Tibetan Mountain Temple to my yoga teacher this weekend as she constantly remarked on how great I smell (I do have a full backup bottle and two solids as well :)!!)
Happy MOnday, y’all!
In order to play along I just sprayed myself with Pomegranate Noire which has rose in the heart notes……
I should get a backup of TMT too 🙂
You should because Pacifica has discontinued quite a few of the ones I loved…..not that I have heard anything about TMT but you never know….
Cuir de Russie EdT for a leather chypre starter.
a favorite 🙂
Mostly smoky leather and iris on me. On paper it is filled with rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, too. Wonderful to spray on a face tissue and slip it into my coat pocket 😉
That’s a great way to wear CdR; when I have iot on it gets on sweaters and scarves and scent lasts and lasts and becomes cozy.
Unsurprisingly, I approve.
I pass your strict leather standard!
Tauer Maroc pour Elle.
My absolute favorite Tauer (so happy to get some more via swapmeet – thanks Hera!). And I love that awesome super hippy vibe. I wore it twice last week. Gorgeous!
One of my favorites as well… maybe I will wear it tomorrow…
I wore it Saturday layered with Salome, it was awesome.
Gosh, that’s an intriguing idea!
Getting ready to go back to work after having my 12 week maternity time..I am so emotional over leaving my little chunky Buddha and toddler that I gave myself a tension headache just thinking about it. Should of had the babies in my hubby’s motherland-Canada so I don’t have to leave the babies so soon.
Keeping strong in Divine. Divine is so beautiful…
So sorry, that’s hard! Hope the day goes better than you’re expecting.
aw. take good care. yes, Canada is much more civilized that way.
I’m sorry for you! Hoping Divine can give a little comfort.
You’ll be OK. Those little chitlins will know you are super special even more after a good day of play with their little friends. Nothing like being reunited every afternoon to show how special mom is!
Thanks Ann, I am going to go back and see how it goes. We will regroup this fall and see how I am managing. I do like my work, but the work schedule is geared towards single people, or someone with no kids, and part time is not an option.
That’s so frustrating, I’m so sorry.
Gosh, that’s harsh, I feel sorry for mums having to go back after 6 months.. and childcare isn’t cheap, at least not in the UK.
Very unfair to make mums go back so soon after giving birth, 3 months is such a short time. At least you will really appreciate the quality family time you all spend together at the weekends. Look after, and treat yourself. Very difficult..
A work schedule that doesn’t jive with being a parent is a whole other issue than just day care alone. I wish you the best of luck. It is hard to figure these things out even under the best circumstances.
Or try Netflix- 1 year paid family leave. My friend who works there just had a baby and is taking a full advantage of that benefit
You have my deepest sympathies! 12 weeks is a short leave, even shorter than in my developing country. Life is hard on us working moms, but in the long run your kids will grow stronger and happier among other kids. And have better vacations. Hope Divine enhances this difficult day a bit.
Ohhh, I feel you! 12 weeks is such a short time. A *year* is such a short time! It’ll take some time to adjust, but be gentle with yourself and remember what a strong mama you are.
The US is cruel that way. Hugs to you. Must be hard.
Try Estonia next time: 1,5 years of fully paid leave that can be shared between parents.
In my next life I will give birth in Estonia! 🙂
Even better than Canada!
That’s fantastic, it reflects a respect and value that just isn’t placed on parenting in the UK, US and other parts of Europe.
Far too much pressure on women to get back to work I think, but looking after babies and toddlers is hard work! Someone has to look after the baby, and its much better for baby if it can be one of the parents. (If possible).
Good luck! I hope it goes better than you expect!
How well I remember that wrenching sadness, made worse because I had used part of my leave when I started having early contractions. You have my sympathy and best wishes.
12 weeks . . . that’s hard. I hope everything goes smoothly. Long live Estonia.
Gosh, I only got six with with partial pay. my children are older now, but I struggle every week to make my schedule and child care work out. It is a huge stress. I hope the transition goes smoothly for you.
A rose week will be so easy! I’ve been feeling rosy lately, too.
sotd: Dior Gris Montaigne
since Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose is so cheap, I’ve taken to spraying it in my closets and bed linens. It’s lovely for that (as well as wearing it)
You smell lovely.
Delicious. I was sick last week and on Gris Montaigne made me happy(ish).
Just one spritz of Shalimar extrait from a 10-year-old purse spray I have is enough to perfume two people. And it is glorious!
I would think and think again before spraying such vintage delight! Well, but perfume is there to be worn.
Btw, is that the photograh of Empress Elizabeth?
Knowing how often I mysteriously lose things, or find them dried up/turned years later, I thought I should enjoy my vintage treasures while I have them.
Yes, that is Sissi herself! I have long been fascinated by her.
Oh, absolutely right you are! They turn. Now I am itching to spray my vintage Egoiste after 7 years of abstinence, must find the occasion.
Yes, she is a most interesting character, like the Princess of Wales of that time. I lived in the city of her birth and often passed by the plaque marking the building. Whenever I visited Vienna, I had to see the exhibits of her life.
There’s a new book (in English) about Empress Elizabeth- you should check it out!
Oh thank you for the heads-up!
Thanks for the news! I shall look for it.
I forgot to put on perfume this morning for the first time in months if not years – I realized it the moment I stepped out the door but would have risked missing my train if I hadn’t just kept on going. Luckily I have plenty of choices in my perfume drawer at work – I am now wearing Misia from a sample. Its pretty, but for some reason I’m not crazy about it. However, it does fit the rose theme.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Ha, always keep a sample stash somewhere!
Like a vault of treasures.
Shalimar.
Because I’ll be working from 6 AM to midnight (probably), and I want to enjoy smelling every minute of it.
And when you come home smelling of Guerlinade mmm…
Best company.
I am crying for you.
Ah, work. It’s very unpleasant.
Well, that sums it up nicely!
6-midnight, holy cow!
Hey, SS, are you in the US? If so, email me. I have a bottle of Eau Sauvage EDP I’ve decided I just can’t wear, its yours if you want it. andrea deveto round about gmx daht calm.
Sampling Blues from Atelier de Geste which is doing a rather bizarre combo of seaweed and glue at the moment. Hopefully it will mellow into something more wearable.
Boston meetup tomorrow at the Pru, starting at 5:30 at the newly revamped Sephora and hopefully eventually moving to Saks and/or Barneys
And I will chime in to add that we’re doing a King of Prussia meetup on the 30th of this month…anyone welcome, just email me!
I’ve already done a rose week this year, and don’t have enough rose fragrances to not repeat what I’ve already worn this year. So today I’m wearing Arquiste #31.
I have quite a few Rose scents, but completely forgot about this week’s theme. I grabbed Corsico Furiosa, spritzed and ran out the door to work. I am liking what I did spritz, but tomorrow it will be a Rose.
You smell great!
I love CF! You smell fantastic!
You smell furiously fantastic!
SOTD is no 5 Eau Premiere over Korres jasmine bodylotion.
You smell wonderful and all put together! Lovely!!
My official first layering experiment 😉 it brings out the sparkle in Eau Premiere!
Korres jasmine lotion is so yummy! I think my boss wears it — she leaves a little trail of jasmine candy everywhere she goes.
You smell WONDERFUL.
Nice! I need to by some new Korres shower gels, possibly including jasmine. I always have like 53 shower gels and no body lotion.
Oh, I might need that lotion. I did like the shower gel.
Yep. You do.
Sounds like a gorgeous pairing!
my absolute favorite body lotion. It layers well with so many perfumes.
I wish I had checked this morning and realized it was rose week because I have more than enough rose to go around. As it is, I was in the mood for fruit (quite the rarity) and am wearing Fruitchouli Flash (which is getting a whole lot more wear than I expected). Anyway, there’s rose in there, so that’s close enough.
I wish I checked too, I have a lot of rose also
Isn’t Fruitchouli Flash fun!? Likewise, I was steeling myself a bit but I really like it.
I really have to try this.
I’m surprised by myself, but I’d totally buy it if the Flash series still came in the rollerball. Can’t really justify a bottle, but I can imagine getting a decant when my sample runs out
I could do rose month, lol!! Tea Rose was my first big fragrance love as a teen – almost to the point where it was a signature fragrance until I branched out with Jardins de Bagatelle and Coco in college. But even in college, friends were like: I smell Ann. I still have a bottle too and some sparkle dusting powder. My mom still has on her dresser my old not entirely used up “Rosebud” version in a tiny little bottle with a bud stopper (maybe parfum?) from back in the day.
SOTD is Natori edp to ward off the chilly rain.
same here. Tea Rose was a signature in high school. to the point that whenever someone smelled roses they thought it was me. I also wore RL Lauren, EL White Linen, Poison and Ungaro Diva (and later LouLou), but Tea Rose was the one I wore the most.
Rose Month! I could probably do one of those, too, except that I might get tired of roses by the end…
Four Rose Weeks, though, that’d be okay. I think I’ll start one now.
I was trying to remember if I got started on rose with Tea Rose or YSL Paris — it was one or the other.
I think I could do Rose Month too!
you smell lovely, and I agree on the Rose month!
Me too!
The Monday after Spring Break…… #Ugh #Caffeine #ItWillBeOK 🙂
SOTD: Estee Lauder Pleasures Pop. Don’t know why I don’t reach for this one more often….I love it!
Tea Rose is great to layer with other perfumes. However, it’s radiance and persistence puts radioactive isotopes to shame. I put one squirt on the the midriff and then apply whatever I pair it with as normal. I particularly like it with the original Commes Des Garçons and Yatagan, though I imagine it could be nice with anything that could benefit from a little rose.
I put two thes intentionally. My midriff is majestorial in size and needs two thes!
LOL! Excellent.
I love Tea Rose layered with J’Adore.
Mohur today, for my birthday! I’ve only got a dabber sample, and sometimes the rose doesn’t show up as much as I’d like, but maybe someone told her it’s rose week. 😉
Happy Birthday and hope you treat yourself to something wonderful today
Thanks! I got a Sephora gift card so I splurged on some fancy sunscreen.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!
Happy birthday! You smell divine!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! Mohur is a lovely choice for your special day!
Happy birthday
Have a lovely birthday! You smell suitably gorgeous.
Have a happy day!
Happy Birthday!! Enjoy your Mohur…maybe it’s time for a FB?? 🙂
Oh, no, I don’t love it enough and it’s WAY out of my price range. But the sample is fun!
Wish I had chosen Mohur….grumble grumble… Happy birthday!
There’s always tomorrow!
Thanks. 🙂
Ooh what a good way to celebrate! Happy Birthday! 🙂
Happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday! Haven’t tried Mohur but I’m sure you smell wonderful!
Happy birthday and you smell great!
Happy birthday, I hope you’re having a joy filled day!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, enjoy!
Happy Birthday!
Hope your birthday’s been great so far!
In Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur today. Had planned on going with 19 EDP, but my hand had other ideas – it went straight for the CPF, and I’m not sorry.
You smell great! Tam Dao EDP for me but I might wear CPF tomorrow.
Thank you! Tam Dao has been on my to-try list forever – I should bump it nearer the top.
Twins!
Good Monday morning to everyone. According to the news this morning, it is also “National Pet Day”. So to all of you pet owners, this day is for you and yours. Enjoy!
My SOTD is Red Roses from Jo Malone. Even though I feel this scent is pretty and wearable, for me it is not FB worthy. I look forward to hearing the rose fragrances that everyone discusses this week to give me some new ideas. I am very limited on “rose” fragrances, but I know I probably have a lot of samples that are “rosy”. 🙂
Hope everyone enjoys their day!
I have a travel spray of Red Roses and find that it layers nicely with other fragrances (not just Jo Malones)
Yes, this is how I use it too.
What do you guys layer it with? I have a bottle of Red Roses which I hate….
I sometimes layer it with simple springy florals, I use JM’s French lime blossom, any petal/blossom light white floral would be nice, or Diptyques Tam Dao, again any woody/sandlewood perfume would work nicely.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian does a few friendly roses that I love. For fairly straight up roses, his are a good place to start.
I just got the Dame Rose de Mai soliflore, and I like that one a bunch. Tauer’s Rose Flash is delicious, especially if you like LUSH Rose Jame shower gel (it’s too jammy for me to want around all day, but it’s a FUN scent).
Robin, you smell fantastic. That will most likely be my Friday choice.
I’m testing out Iris Nazarene by Aedes de Venustas today and really liking it. Definitely an iris for the carrot/rooty lovers.
Glad you like it! I don’t find it carroty compared to for example ISM or even Iris Cendre, but it is very lovely.
The opening was very carroty on me, but it settled down quickly. I don’t mind that though. Although I love incense, I think I might like this one better than Iris Cendre.
Oh, I remember this. I think of Iris and bitter leather. This unsweetened iris-leather combination makes me think of Iris Cendre. Are they similar? I have not examined them beyond 5 minutes.
They are a little similar but Cendre veers more towards incense. I’ve only tried it once so far though. Maybe I’ll have to do a side by side comparison.
LOVE that one! I’ve been stalking ebay for ages, hoping someone will sell off a single travel spray, but no dice. Maybe the mark of a great perfume, that no one’s getting rid of it!
I wouldn’t anticipate seeing that on ‘bay anytime soon. It is really good.
Iris Nazarena is so good! Not carroty on me, and not particulary iris-y either (I get iris, but it goes away really quickly). I get soft leather and warm tobacco, perfect.
It is. It starts off a bit carroty on me. I noticed it even as I was dabbing it this morning, but it calms down quickly. Now the iris is perfectly blended with the woods and incense notes and smells incredible.
Anima Dulcis by Arquiste today. Needed something to sweeten up this grey and rainy monday morning, plus I forgot about the rose week. I do not generally like rose, but perhaps a rose week would be a good excercise to get to know rose perfumes better
I have a sample of this that I hunted down and had to lobby the SA to decant. Brilliant Baroque gourmand tension between cocoa and chili. Somehow, the animalic quality is there, too. I will get an FB when I finish my Santal Majuscule.
Does Santal Majuscule remind it in any way? I have not tried, but I imagined it completely differently
The illusion of cocoa. That’s it. I like Santal majuscule for its rose attar, chocolate truffle illusion, and sandalwood, but it gets too calorific if I wear it too often or when I feel full. I bought it on a whim, too, for its excessive sandalwood creaminess when I was on an empty stomach.
Like “calorific.” 🙂
Both of these sound so fabulous. It’s making my skin tingle.
This is a really interesting one, I should try it again.
Must de Cartier Parfum, the long thin scarlet cigarette bottle.
This is beautiful. Finis
🙂
You smell most interesting. Galbanum and oriental. Not exactly edible, of course, but it breaks the rules of what can be done with orientals. Vent Vert did it with galbanum oil in a classical chypre, why not galbanum in an oriental. I wish there were more daring ones like this!
Do you have the vintage? The perfume which came in the cigarette lighter bottle wrapped in a mahogany leather case? I wore that in the mid 1980s and it was the most expensive fragrance I had ever bought up to that point! The perfume was different from the EDT…. they were supposed to compliment each other… the EDT was for day and the perfume was for night…..I never tried the EDT but I was told it wasn’t as good as the perfume…the perfumer who made it was a client of the company I worked for at the time….he ended up retiring and buying a horse ranch and running a B&B (or something like that) out of it….
You smell divine!!!!!!
ooh, intersting to know that.
If late 1990s, is vintage, yes. But not from the’80s.
I am puzzled when I read the dichotomy people have between the two concentrations; they are both obviously the same galbanum-sandalwood-vanilla-rose-jasmine perfume, the parfum denser, and the EDT more diffusive.
http://yesterdaysperfume.typepad.com/yesterdays_perfume/2010/10/must-de-cartier-1981.html
The original rendition of Must EDT was completely different and not composed by Mr. Denier…..Barbara Herman does a wonderful job explaining the concept in the above post…….
Thank you for that chocolatemarzipan, I have read that before.
What BH omits is that Must II eventually became the current EDT AND a completely different scent.
Cartier will neither confirm nor deny, possibly because they don’t really know.
What I do know is smells great, unnamed critic has his opinion, I have mine. 😀
Oh I thought it was the other way around…that the vintage EDT was different from vintage MUST perfume (which confused people back then) and then Cartier introduced MUST II EDT in 1993 with the notes of the original perfume…at least that is how I interpreted Barbara’s article….in any event , you smell great!
http://singularcity.com/san-miguel-de-allende/
For anyone interested scroll down the article and the “cowboy” in the bright yellow shirt is the perfumer who made Must!
Wow, you are good.
He! he!
What I remember most about him is that we all (men and women) had a crush on him as he was gorgeous in his youth and he used to bring in bottles and bottles of perfume for the staff in the unlabeled circular bottles with silver caps that looked exactly like the bottles Mr. Burr uses for his “Untitled” Series on luckyscent. He was very generous in that respect!
And thirty years ago I was thrilled to actually meet a real perfumer! They did not have the celebrity status that they do nowadays!
Indeed. I was very excited when I met one in person as well and asked him so many things I was curious about his creations. It was a passionate conversation. One of the most memorable experiences of my life.
How cool! Love that town, too.
Tea Rose was one of my mom’s signature scents! I still have a mostly empty bottle somewhere, for when I want to conjure her…
I have enough roses to do a rose *month*, but I’ll narrow it down somehow. For today, I picked Rose Privée, because the garden is full of dewy pink roses at the moment, and I want to match. 🙂
Not sure if I could do a whole month, but I could come close!
I’m wearing a slight tan, a pale beige silk shirt, a pebble coloured leather pencil skirt, nude Pigalle pumps, YSL Glossy Stain number 28 and Fleur de Chine. Still tough to be back at work, though.
I love YSL stains as well. What other colors do you like?
I own 101, 8, 10, 16 (absolute favourite, discontinued, makes me cry), 26 and 28. Yes, I know.
My favorite is 20, which is OOS everywhere. Has anyone heard anything about it? I don’t “need” another red lipstick, but . . .
You look boss and smell great- and I like YSL lip stains. BUT I must watch my pennies and so use the L’Oreal knockoffs instead. I my favorites are 303, 202 and 201.
AH..will look into these
Me too!
Please do- very pretty colors, very close to YSL colors but at 1/4 of the price. And remember coupons in the USA for L’Oreal products!
Thank you! I love the glossy stains, it’s one of my absolute favourite formulations. Are the L’Oreal ones good?
I think that L’Oreal ones are very good indeed. Of course, they do not stand up to a lot of eating/drinking BUT the stain lasts all day and it’s easy to re-apply midday; you only need a little bit.
PSA- MAC just came out with a glossy stain collection in tons of colors. I just picked one up this past weekend and it’s really nice.
Big glossy stain fan here. no 107=favourite. Hoarding because to be discontinued.
That’s my favorite one too (Naughty Mauve). I also get a lot of use out of #5 Rouge Vintage and #29 Rose Forreau.
I will look into those!
I like the glossy stains too, but 108 was my favorite. It was like the pearly, sheer version of 16 (which I also had and lost).
That sounds like an amazing outfit. I used to have YSL stain, but had to get rid of it because I’m allergic to most stains/glosses. I’ve not tried Fleur de Chine, but I know you smell as fabulous as you look.
That’s the way to go back to work!
Rose week will give me a good reason to go through a bunch of rose (or rosy) samples, plus wear the couple of roses FB I have. Started over the weekend with Stella, then Rose Ikebana.
Today, I dumped what was left of my sample of Infusion de Rose all over myself. It’s quite nice: rose and slightly spicy beeswax. I never see this one in the shops though, so I’m guessing it has been discontinued? If that’s the case, I probably don’t like it enough to hunt it down.
I think all the original Infusions were replaced by the new set, which does not include rose.
Well I forgot it was rose week (not that I’m very good at participating in these things anyways…), but the Oud Satin Mood that I’m testing pre-shower appears to have rose in it, so yay! I kind of like it because it feels slightly fruity. Fruits aren’t listed in the notes so maybe I’m just projecting fruit notes into the sweetness it because I’ve been really interested in trying dark fruit notes lately, particularly plum and berries.
Also, I wanted to share that my son Walden (the 23 month old perfumister that loves sniffing my perfumes and requests that I spray his hand with scents when I’m spritzing) is also an *avid* lover of hot tea. He’s gleefully drinking my now-warm tea from a big mug and saying ‘hot tea’ between gulps. 🙂
Walden sounds like a gem! I hope my little ones love tea as well. Which tea is he sampling?
Hehe, thank you, he is a gem – at least in my eyes. 🙂 This morning it’s Harney and Son’s Vanilla Comoro with a little milk. Nothing fancy, but yummy enough!
Yum! Excellent tea choice 🙂
I haven’t really seen it get mentioned anywhere, but I like Oud Satin Mood. It definitely comes off as light-hearted and a bit fruity to me.
And your son sounds like an absolute doll (with excellent taste!)
You know, I’m guessing price has something to do with why there hasn’t been much comment on those–I honestly haven’t even tried any beyond the first one just because $300 for 70ml…
Wow, is it really that much?? I just got a 5ml purse spray in a swap, I had no idea. I certainly wouldn’t pay that kind of money for it…
I got a free sample of this from a Luckyscent order, and though I don’t particularly care for it, my sister really enjoys it. It reminds her of Turkish delight.
I know, same here–pretty hard for me to imagine almost anything I would pay that kind of money for! It is possible to get an 11ml travel spray of it in one of those MFK variety sets ($195), so that at least it’s only $2.22/ml instead of $4.29/ml (!!), but it only makes sense if you want the other things in the set too, or have a good split organized!
I only tried it because an SA at Neiman’s handed me a scent strip. I’m definitely not spending $300 on it, though
Yeah, that is the only way I’d end up smelling it!
thanks 🙂 he’s a doll and a devil, but he does have good taste!
It definitely has rose and rose often reads fruity to me, especially when it’s in a supporting role. Satin Mood is nice.
A lovely rose byproduct indeed!
Noontide Petals today, a Tauer without Tauerade – at least to my nose.
I got Tauerade in that one. Not as *much* as in some of his others, but it’s definitely there. NP was a “nice, but not love” for me.
Every time I get another decant of Noontide Petals, I go through it in no time. I need to buckle down and get a FB of this one…
I haven’t put Mandragore on in a while and decided that it’s time, so that’s what I’ll wear today. I wear it a lot more in seasons other than winter.
Mandragore is a great scent. You smell great!
Roseberry for me today. I’m a huge rose lover, both in the garden and in art representations, most specially in perfume, so this will be a loud and proud rose week, culminating with Mohuh Extrait. Yum!
It has been a sodding awful weekend for personal reasons, and I’m facing some big changes. Petite Cherie for comfort today.
Very sorry to read that Mals. Wishing you lots of what you need now most.
I am hoping for very best for you, and Petite Cherie is lovely!
I’m sorry you’re hitting a rough patch. Hope things improve soon.
Oh no, I wish you the best. May you find your comfort!
No words of wisdom here, but a supportive spirit. 🙂
So sorry to hear that…hope it turns out better than you think it will.
I’m very sorry for what you are going through. I hope today gets better.
Just wanted to say how sorry I am that you’re dealing with a tough situation. I hope that it’s not as bad as you think and the support found here in this community is some comfort to you.
Sorry to hear about that…but you smell sweet and lovely…hope you find some comfort and aromatherapy in your Petite Cherie!
Sorry to hear it Mals. Hugs from Georgia!!
Sending positive vibes your way.
Sorry you’re having a rough week Mals! Douse yourself in comfort scents.
Awful weekend + big changes = marathon. Hope it is not too long before you hit your stride… Thinking of you!
So sorry Mals! Later today I will wear some Teo Cabanel for my ultimate Alahine enabler and send you all the positive thoughts I can muster up
Sending loads of positive thoughts your way, mals!
So sorry, I hope the Petite Cherie helps a bit.
I’m so sorry. I have nothing useful to say, but I hope it’ll be better soon.
Blarg, so sorry to hear. Thinking of you. Let me know if there’s some perfume I can send you to cheer you up 🙂
So sorry to hear that things are crummy and I’m hoping you feel better soon.
Oh dear! Sending good thoughts your way.
So sorry, Mals. Hope all gets well soon!
Hope things improve for u soon, all the best.
Sending strength your way.
Oh dear, hope things pick up for the better soon!
Lots of love coming your way, mals. We’re thinking of you.
Sending positive thoughts to you.
I’m sorry.
Sorry Mals. Hope things get better soon.
Sorry to hear this; hope you can surf the wave of change. Be well.
So sorry! Hope your situation improves.
I forgot that it was a rose week. But I do have a few rose scents in my collection. I was going to go with Epic today because it’s a spicy rose. But in the end, I went with my decant of Nahema. I’ve recently fallen in love with Nahema and want a full bottle. Well, payday is around the corner, so I will get it then.
Happy Monday!
1) And so we have the end of our sweet summer preview! This weekend was wonderful, with a lot of bike riding, hanging out and drinking maybe a little too much sparkling wine by the river with friends. Today, back to grey skies and back to work!
2) In keeping with the rose theme for the week, am finally using up the last of Lush’ Rose Jam shower gel that I bought two years ago! Layered with a spritz of Infusion D’Iris. This really melds well together.
3) OOTD: Cream color silk shirt, high waist dark rinse jeans and caramel suede sneaker-loafers. Hair is in a messy top knot Comfort is needed- lots of work for the new quarter, and I need to get my taxes done so that I am on time this week (remember, Americans: the deadline is FRIDAY 15 APRIL.)
Get those taxes done!
Happy to hear that you took advantage of the Vitacost sale last week….and since you mentioned that you use a lot of carrier/massage oils I am also going to recommend All Star Health which sells them even cheaper than Vitacost! I just bought a whopping 16oz sweet almond oil and even with the shipping cost it was half the price of what I pay at my local health food store…..
That VitaCost sales was marvelous- thank you for the heads up! And yes, I do use carrier massage oils because I am a shameless copier of Nuxe, Lieroc and Rodin oils and love to use them head to toe.
Yikes. I responded and then lost my response… Weird. So tax day has been put off until April 18 this year… http://nbc4i.com/2016/04/11/why-is-tax-day-on-april-18/
Filed ours on Sat, but was happy to have the extra cushion…
Oooh! But still, I need to move my buns and just get it done!
I checked the spam folder…nope. Sorry you lost your comment!
I’m in Wit today. Needed something bright and uplifting for the long day of packing ahead of me.
You can do it Elisa! I hope that Wit gives you the boost that you need!
Thanks Petunia! I can use some cheerleading. As you can see, I’m spending more time hear than on my stuff. Time to get moving!
Best of luck with the dreary task. The best I can offer (from memory) is that if you browbeat yourself long enough, eventually you’re surprised to find you’ve turned a corner to “more than half done,” which is very motivating.
Misia for me, which is basically all orris all the time on my skin.
Misia is so pretty.
I agree. After sampling it all day and reapplying it often, it’s grown on me.
Typical manic Monday. No time to read the comments now but I’ll be back to read them later. SOTD day is Marni.
Marni is one of my favorites. Great way to start off rose week!
Marni is a candidate for this week! For someone who doesn’t like flowery perfume, I have a lot of flowery perfumes!
Marni always feels like a good choice, I love it too.
SOTD: SL Arabie. I have some big work deadlines today and needed a spiritual power boost fragrance. Have a good Monday, all.
Good luck!
Crushed it! Thanks for the vote o’confidence!
You smell great!
Thank you! I love Arabie so much…
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
I needed spine strengthening and also be cool and crisp today as I was managing a relatively early business function update with 10 speakers and the entire thing had to be completed in 1 hour. For what it’s worth, despite testing the logistics in the venue last Friday, there was semi-equipment failure today but overall the flow was great and the preparation that went into it showed.
For the rest of the week, I will try to wear more rose centric perfumes. BTW, British Rose is now in the US The Body Shop. I got the shower scrub, shower gel and soap. I did not want to commit to the large EDT, yet. It is a solifiore, with a sheerer rose than The Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose. I will report on the shower scrub tomorrow!
Report back on the Body Shop British Rose
That sounds lovely, will have to give it a try soon.
Sounds great. Too bad I placed an order with them yesterday and didn’t see it on the website 🙁 They closed the only store location near me last year and I don’t like the online selection nearly as well.
None of the stock was on the floor. The EDT and the body lotion testers werw by the registers and I was told they’re allowed to sell them from the backroom stock. The SA was surprised that the items qualifies for the buy 3 get 3 free sale.
10 speakers in an hour! You are an organizational genius!
They were contained within segments besides the lead speaker: an interview, a panel discussion, a group presentation and each person was made aware several times that they have limited air time and that I will signal them very visibly when they have x amount of time left. A blessing in disguise was when a speaker went missing during his alotted time and went with a segment that took a lot shorter than anticipated and ended up allowing a more interesting segment to go a little longer than planned. I’ll probably still get slammed for something but the good outweighed the negative.
I feel like it is a miracle if I can get *one* person to talk for less than an hour. Or perhaps more truthfully, twenty minutes. I did once have an old friend come in for a job interview where I work and I told him, over and over again, 40 minutes, 45 minutes tops for your lecture. He talked for *70* minutes. It was a nightmare.
So your genius stands.
I second that opinion! What an accomplishment. Congrats!
Thanks!
Miller Harris Geranium Bourbon is my SOTD.
<3 that one
Love Miller Harris and geranium. So I’m dying to try this one! Did you find this in the states?
It was a gift from the wonderful Petunia 🙂
Sounds delish!
sotd = Eau de Rochas, my old warm-weather stand-by. It’s not quite warm weather yet but I’m wearing it for aspirational purposes! Plus there’s a hint of patchouli in it and that’s my jam. Yum!
You smell wonderful!
Last time I wore this I realised what is so special about it – it’s a really sophisticated citrus scent. Most citrus scents are refreshing, simple, effervescent etc. Feminine and sophisticated is quite different!
In JM’s Red Roses and am not happy. This perfume does not work for me. Humming away with the rose are the twin whammies of Ivory soap and lemongrass…not in a good way. Hope it doesn’t last too long…. 🙁 If the hum turns into a rumble this will be headache inducing.
It is mellowing… More wearable now….
If not top it off with something else….I find that I prefer it as a “base” to freshen up other fragrances…..
Yikes. I just bought the body cream of this one. Hopefully it won’t have the soap and lemongrass notes!
This one gives me a migraine, so I sympathize.
I have a similar problem w Tresur, although they do not smell the same. I am wondering if it is citronella. I cook w lemongrass but dislike the chemical buzz of citronella candles, which can give me headaches as well
Tresor!
I can’t do much Red Roses either and have a huge bottle of it. I used to wear it regularly, layered with Eau d’Hadrien, then my husband broke my bottle shortly after we were married and my bathroom reeked of it for months. He very sweetly replaced it and I don’t think I’ve touched it more than twice since. I wish I had the bath oil instead.
Day 11 of my 30 day sample only challenge. It will be extra challenging to find roses (from my unorganized sample drawer) for this week. But I love roses so I’m up for the challenge! SOTD Diptyque Eau Rose.
Starting off rose week in papery violettey Arlesienne.
Pretty!
Wearing vintage Halston dry oil spray included in “Body Warmers” (lol) gift set I grabbed for cheap from the bay. Don’t think it had seen the light of day since 1981. Wowzers. Gorgeous stuff. Green yet warm and with depth and eternal longevity to boot. Dry oil form minimizes the face-punch sillage. Current formula EDT I have of Halston is so flat and lifeless in comparison to the 1oz. that came in the vintage set. Thanks to the 70s, I’m enveloped in a cloud of cozy, sexy, happy on a super-dreary Monday. Can’t ask for much more. : ) Have a great week everyone!
You smell fabulous and have transported me back to high school! Nothing like vintage Halston!
Is the current one an edt? I thought it’s a cologne?
The sampler set of Teo Cabanel fragrances has arrived and I am wearing Alahine today…
Very nice…spicy, woody goodness.
I wore Oha yesterday and also enjoyed that. A great big rose chypre.
Both fragrances seem like a return to old school perfumes from the 70s and 80s to me. Oha smells very similar to something my aunt wore in the 80s…maybe Charlie or Norell?
Thanks again to those who posted about their great sample set. I am a sucker for coffrets and sampler sets in general and think I shall get the Ormonde Jayne Discovery Set next. With so many great sample/discovery sets about perhaps I shall never buy another full bottle again… 😉
Where did you order it from? I know Posh Peasant carries it, but they charge ~$7 shipping…I guess if I order few other samples, it would make sense
Direct from the manufacturer’s website. They send the pack as pictured plus 2 more samples for a total of 9 for 9.50 euros which is about $11 USD.
http://shop.teo-cabanel.com/samples,us,4,KE05091.cfm#.VwwEA_krLAU
Thank you! Ordered!
Ok are you having the trouble I am getting the perfume *out* of the TC vials? I was trying to move a couple into atomizers and it was virtually impossible. These are dabbers with a vengeance, or I’m missing something!
I haven’t had any trouble but I have just been dabbing them.
I did have to bang them slightly on my forearms to release some of the juice due to the airlock that happens w/ some vial samples I have found.
Hopefully you have more success. I wish they were atomizer samples myself too. I dislike vials and much prefer to spray.
Try using a tiny piece of wire to break the surface tension and give the liquid a path (I would place the wire in your spray vial and then lower the dabber over it). It’s worked for me on some tricky little vials but I haven’t tried the TC ones specifically.
I tried that and it worked ok with one and a complete fail with another, but I may just need to dab out enough to get past the air bubble part. Real problems I’ve got here! Thanks for advice!
Spaced out Rose Week, SOTD is Seville a l’Aube, orange blossom and resins heaven. Don’t think there is any rose in this…
Tomorrow I will wear a Tauer Rose, probably Maroc pour Elle. Wednesday I will wear a SSS rose, probably Rose Volupte. Thursday I will wear Un Fille de Berlin. Friday I will wear Mohur Extrait. Roses galore!
Actually, that would be a nice name for a rose perfume…
Wearing all black today. And Back to Black by kilian.
Nice.
Firstly, thank you all for the birthday wishes, I had a great birthday weekend!
I started rose week yesterday with PHI Rose de Kandahar and will continue today with Tauer Incense Rose.
REMINDER: SoCal perfume meetup this coming Sunday at South Coast Plaza mall, we will meet up at noon in the Nordstrom’s Cafe for lunch and sample swapping, then continue with sniffing throughout the mall. Please join us!!
Every time I read about these meet ups a cinematic fantasy plays through my head where I jump on the next plane…..This fantasy has taken me to Portland, Washington, Vancouver, New York, San Diego and I imagine smelling an Andy Tauer or Amouage or Sonoma Scents or Chanel Exclusif or one of the Hermes for the first time. Ahhh. Nice.
Have fun!
We wish you could be here too!!
Wearing my embarrassing decant of 1/2 Ferre 1/2 Jasmine White Moss, which was a goof on my part. It smells fine, actually, but it makes me squirm every time that I mixed them up.
LOL! Glad it smells fine anyway.
SOTD is BPAL “O” = delicious! Saw it mentioned a couple of days ago and remembered I had an imp from about 6 years ago. It’s aged extremely well.
Happy Monday to all????
Ah my annoying job is keeping me from reading all the comments, which I’ll have to come back to as I love rose. Wearing Heeley Hippie Rose; quiet but good. I had a meeting with a colleague I for some reason assume is scentphobic on the basis of no evidence. I am going to go spray a bit more before more meetings!
I don’t like rose enough to wear them all week, so I’m wearing Tihota today.
Pacifica is having their warehouse sale this weekend. Are there any must-haves I should check out?
Well I will tell you that Nerola Orange Blossom is discontinued so if you like it …get it! Also, I happen to love Spanish Amber and Tibetan Mountain Temple….there are others that I have and wear but they have long been discontinued so they probably won’t show up…and if you can get soap…the French Lilac and the Island Vanilla are both in my bathroom now and boy I am loving them! I also have Brazilian Mango Grapefruit in soap and the Guava one (blanking on the full name) but I am saving those for the summer…
and the solids are also being discontinued so if you can get them for a good price ( I paid only six dollars at my local store) then definitely get those…you could even use them as cuticle/hand softeners! and the tins are adorable!
I second Tibetan Mountain Temple. It’s the only one by Pacifica that I really like. Too bad the solids are being discontinued.
Yeah honestly I feel like so many of them are worth trying even at full price, so for sure for sale prices! I’ll mention particularly the Med Fig, the Malibu Lemon Blossom, the Tahitian Gardenia, the Sandalwood and the Spanish Amber as some that have appealed to me–but I think it’s a very YMMV situation, as they’re all pretty good and just depends on what notes you might like have in a simple, inexpensive form.
I agree…while I don’t own all in full bottles I have sampled all and there is not one in the bunch that are displeasing…they are simple and easy to wear and also layer and pair nicely with other fragrances…so if you hit a really good sale go for it! (anything you don’t like could also be held for stocking stuffers)
Starting a week of roses with Tauer’s “Phi – une rose de Kandahar”. I liked this when I sprayed in the morning, but it didn’t really stand up to the rigours of the journey to London. Just reapplied in the late afternoon and there’s some chemical note in there that’s not working for me. So right now I am puzzled by this perfume. I’ll try it again tonight and see what I think. Love at first sniff it ain’t. ;^)
Blah, I mean “continuing’ not starting; started yesterday with Hermès Ikébana and later HeP Rosam.
PHI was definitely love at first sniff for me, but when I have a cold, I really, really can’t stand the chemical note. Most certainly not an everyday scent for me, though I still love it
Ditto this except I don’t get any chemical note at all- just waves and waves of round burgundy goodness. One of my top 5 ????
Well – I wanted to love it, but I don’t. :^(
Onwards to the next thing! :^D
(Yeah, I’m fickle like that…)
Caron Farnesiana urn perfume
Sorry, didn’t get the rose week message! It’ll probably be Paestum Rose all week – my favorite.
Nobody *ever* has to do the Friday project all week long! Nobody even has to do the Friday project on Friday 🙂
I quite like expanding the Friday thing for a week when I can – it makes me think about my choices and I get more out of them. But, looking at the April challenges for example, this week is the only one I can do, and the other 3 weeks I can’t muster a single perfume just to cover Friday. So next week and the week after I’ll use some other criteria of my own to pick my perfumes and enjoy reading what more knowledgable and experienced people do with the community theme on Fridays. And then in May I can do Tom Ford for a week, and we’ll see where we go from there. :^)
One can even do a no rose week 🙂
Mon Parfum Cherie Par Camille today, bittersweet, with emphasis on ‘bitter’ rather than ‘sweet’.
Love Mon Parfum Chéri, and yes it is bitter. A lot of Goutals share that bitterness I think ,to a certain extent. You smell great.
Thank you!
I probably need to explore Goutal again to detect this shared bitterness, haven’t noticed it before.
Sampling HDP’s Moulin Rouge 1889 today from the lovely and generous Haememelis. I’m really loving this, and it’s lovely and rosy too. Trying Misia tomorrow- so many gorgeous perfumes to try, will be relieved if I don’t love it, my list is getting rather long!
I love HdP Moulin Rouge. It is a mood booster for me.
Yes I can see how it could be, it’s really fun and uplifting.
Went to see my new godson today, so just a teensy bit of Mimosa & Cardamom today. But finally found my sample of Fleur de Cassie and wore the heck out of it yesterday. Such a great scent, I definitely need to get some more.
Congrats on the being a new God Mum????
I’ve just realized that I have three large samples of Gold Woman (one is the original, two are new-ish) which I rarely wear because they seem rather formal and not really me, so I’m committing a mortal sin and layering Gold with Atelier Grand Neroli. It ain’t half bad and is going a long way toward distracting me from day two of cleaning Mom’s gutters.
It’s still as death outside, dazzlingly bright, and already 86 degrees in the shade. I’ve been on top of the twelve-foot ladder shoveling damp, stinky mud and leaves onto my cleavage (because the low end of the gutter is about 15′ and I can’t get high enough to do more than cling to the downspout with one hand and blindly grope around with the other). I’m very grateful for good perfume today.
I commit “mortal sins” all the time by “butchering” fragrances through layering…if it helps you use your fragrances more often and you like what you smell….go for it!
Careful up there!
Kudos for being such a hard worker!
Very good morning, all of NST. I missed the beginning of Rose Week on my Monday, but I’m getting into the spirit today by wearing Nahema, recently re-cast in my mind as Rose Muscle, thanks to an excellent and apposite typo here. I would not usually wear Nahema to work, but this evening is Awards Night, and I’ll be breaking out into my midnight blue sequins, so a dark red rose perfume seems perfectly appropriate. Nahema is kind of all-enveloping, isn’t it? It’s not so much a quick friendly hug of a perfume as a total body experience…must dash furiously away in all directions. Have a workshop at 8 and a lecture at 9…and 10….and 2. I rather hate Tuesdays this semester!
Sequins! Excellent.
Mmmm–you’re very kind. I love shimmer and sparkle and parties. Awards Night is a lot more fun than graduation. It’s a fancy night: the Vice Chancellor usually makes A Social Appearance so as to smile benignly and have a few gracious words with people whose names he knows. He calls me “Florence”, which isn’t my name, but I think it’s very funny, so I always answer…industry turns up, not in droves, but in a sort of semi-drove, and the students who have won the prizes look so happy and proud that it’s worth the effort. some of the prizes are quite rich, but the ones I present aren’t.
Crikey, I’m late for the 8— gotta go.
Too funny, Florence 😉
OK, I have to ask: how did the Vice Chancellor end up calling you a name that’s not yours?? That has got me giggling.
I forgot that Friday is rose day. I probably could do a full week of roses. But I went with Elixir des Merveilles.
Anyway.. I was at Marshalls yesterday, hoping to find a bottle of Queen (Deva got me thinking about it 🙂 ), but instead I found that Queen Latifah had a second perfume called Queen of Hearts. Did you guys know that? I didn’t. I did a quick lookup on my phone in the store and saw that the reviews were overwhelmingly positive so I decided to take a chance.
I was going to try it out today but I was charged the wrong price at Marshalls and haven’t unwrapped it so I can take it back to get the difference refunded. The reason for the wrong amount was that there appeared to be no price tag on the box, so the SA got a different perfume that she thought was the same price and charged me for that one. Turns out there was a tag, but I didn’t find it until later when I went to unwrap the box and found it underneath the outer sheath that covered the plastic-wrapped box. Silly place to put a tag. So they charged me $15 for a $10 bottle and I want my $5 back. Maybe I’ll wear it tomorrow.
that’s really annoying! But looking forward to what you have to say about Queen of Hearts…maybe you will be like Deva and wear it several days in a row 🙂 ….
I found my bottle of Queen at TJMaxx–I wanted Queen of Hearts but they didn’t have it. I’ll hit Marshall’s instead, thanks.
I would have done the same thing. Do let us know about Heart — may need to stop by Marshall’s again soon!
The exact same “hidden price tag” issue happened when I bought Queen. The clerk asked for a price check as there was no ticket on the box, and as someone was doing that, she picked up the perfume and the cellophane wrapped box slipped out of the cardboard surround, and lo and behold! there was 9.99 price tag. We all had a good laugh about the ridiculous location of the tag. And really, I bought it mainly because of this:
https://nstperfume.com/2009/08/25/queen-by-queen-latifah-perfume-review/
I’m on the lookout for Queen of Hearts❤️
Tom Ford White Suede to use up a sample. If I didn’t know any better, I might guess there was some rose in this, though it might be the power of suggestion. Yesterday I wore a combo inspired by hajusuuri, Infusion d’Iris absolue + a little poivre 23 over some very cheap monoi dry oil I’ve been digging, though it’s pretty quiet. The combination probably wasn’t though, heh.
Peppery warm iris all the way!
(looked up the notes of White Suede and rose is top up there, despite the leathery name! nice to know I’m not delusional)
I just found a use for my Poivre 23 decant unless I’ve already divested it in the freebiemeet!
I am wearing Grenade (Weleda) which strikes me as a blend of all things Weleda without the rose or almond. So a big hit of pommegranate and citrus followed by a herbal sage and sea buckthorn, with birch in the background….and maybe a touch of jasmine and vanilla ( perhaps I should read the notes) just to settle it down a notch. It is a powerful mix but refreshing and sunny and i think it would be a great gym bag/ spin class scent. Or even a good room spray if the dogs were smelling fusty or your teenager’s bedroom was suffering from fresh air withdrawal symptons. I am happy to wear it , though. A lot rougher than, say, Clarins Eau D or Jardin series. I didn’t try the rose but may go back today and see what’s going on there. I really like Weleda products- especially the oils. Plus i like the packaging and the price
LOL! Like the teenager bedroom thinking!! 🙂
Can I spray it directly in my 10 yr old boy’s shoes?? hee hee
Where do you find Waleda products?
In the city whole foods shop …where service comes with a sigh and a scowl
My Wegmans carries it, although the choices are dwindling. Target carries trial size sets. I’ve also seen them at Marshalls. Regardless of where you buy it, do check the expiration date.
Good Monday. I forgot it was rose week, but I’m looking forward to it. I had an appointment this morning and afterward stopped at my local Saks. The so kind gentleman Chanel SA layered No. 5 Eau Premiere over No. 5 Oil. I think you could wear the oil under anything. Then I sprayed a whopping amount of La Pausa ( per Hajusuri’s guidelines) on the other arm. This elegant Iris is going to last for hours!
LOL on “hajusuuri’s guidelines”‘ – some perfumes can sense your commitment level and reward you 🙂
I’ve been a ball of anxiety the last few days, so last night while trying to fall asleep I decided I should do a lavender week – didn’t realize it was rose week! Anyway, I wanted to wear Bvlgari au the blue today but I couldn’t find my sample so I quickly grabbed Burberry Brit rhythm because I was running late. It’s nice, but I want more lavender so I’m going to refresh with demeter lavender
Oh, the anxious times are the pits – hope things improve soon.
Anxiety sucks! When I’m desperate enough I use pure lavender EO in unscented lotion. Sometimes I add a lavender scent, but sometimes not. Lately I’v been finding Jicky the most comforting due to the animal-musky effect. It used to jar me a little, but my skank tolerance has risen 🙂
Lavandula has my rec if you need more lavenders to try–it’s softened with a little vanilla so it’s very easy to wear. Hope you feel better!
Anxiety blows. I hope it passes soon for you! In addition to aromatherapy, breathing is great. Have you ever tried it? If not, I recommend checking out the description and video here for the 4-7-8/relaxing breath technique (which was recommended to me by a doctor):
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/ART00521/three-breathing-exercises.html
Wow, 320 comments already – I won’t have time to read all those before heading off to work!
Rose is a theme I can do all week, so I’m thinking I’ll start light with Rose Alexandrie. The forecast is for a nice day, but getting much colder later in the week, so heavier roses will be in order as autumn starts in earnest.
Though I love rose, it’s something I’m sensitive to. Didn’t think I had many, but found some small amounts (TF Sahara Noir and SSS Rose Volupte) that I diluted with SNM rosewater. The Sahara Noir is nice, still pretty strong (both were about 20% perfume, 80% rosewater). Now if I can just get past the burnt sugar note in Rose Flash.
Maybe think of it as smoky caramel?
Checking in with Prada Candy today.
I received a small bottle of Prada Candy for my birthday last month, and each time I wear it I like it even more! It really is beautifully done!
Mmmm good. I don’t reach often for it anymore but it really is a wonderful fragrance. If I had to pick an any season fun perfume, I would pick Prada Candy without any hesitation.
I’ve got the fragrance-free seminar tonight, so no perfume until later. Last night I wore Nina Ricci Fille d’Eve, an old fav that I hadn’t worn in probably more than a year, and I think it’s Christian Dior Jules on my shirt sleeves now, so I guess I’ll survive. 😉
You will be in trouble if the red light goes off and they take you aside and ask you to empty your pockets and run the perfume body scanner over you
🙂
Happy Monday, all. Geez, I’m late to the party today. I’m wearing Eau Sauvage, spritzed at Sephora. Free sprays rule!
Nice!
