It's Almost-Friday, and it's Mario Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I did some digging in the decant bins this morning. I'm wearing Norma Kamali Jazmin, from a very small decant I did not even know I had.
Reminder: 3/11 will be Forgotten Friday...dig around in the back of the cabinet, find something, be it a bottle or decant or sample, that you'd forgotten you owned or forgotten to wear. (suggested by ajda)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SOTD: Shaal Nur (Etro) 🙂
I’m always hesitant to purchase this.
Girard- might you give me your review?
Lovely lemony-incense, it is appropriate for any season in my opinion.
I do love the bottle????
I should wear that tomorrow: I forgot I had a decant!
Cute Mario image.
So glad it’s Friday Eve.
I’m in Eau de Merveilles. I haven’t forgotten about this one, but I don’t wear it much in winter. Smelling it now reminds me of why I love this one so much in warm weather. I think this is my favorite scent to wear in summer.
I really love EdM in the summer too.
It’s really hard to describe what’s so perfect about this one for warm weather for me, but I’m guessing it’s that incredible citrus/salty (ambergris) mix.
I think the heat really brings out the notes in EdM. I can smell it better.
I wholeheartedly agree! One of my warm-weather top favorites.
I really shoul dget a bottle, it is great.
I bought the small bottle and was shocked at how much I’ve used it up! I’m wondering now if I should get the larger bottle when I run out.
If you have large hands, the larger size is great. Mine are small so I ended up getting the smaller size.
I’ve had a bottle of EdM for years, but I actually do forget about it constantly. Every time I dig it out, though, I ask myself how on earth I ignore this one. You smell great!
This one always stays on my dresser so I know it’s there, but it always gets brushed aside in colder weather. So each spring/summer I’m reminded anew of why it’s so awesome.
I’ve been thinking about this one too. Victoria did a post on orange scents and this one came up, which is interesting because I never really thought of it as an orange-focused scent.
I don’t think of it as orange-centered either. There is a very light hint of it, but not front and center.
I actually get a lot of orange and it’s there all the way through dry-down.
Definitely one of my summer top 3.
Continuing with the long list of untried samples: Dame Mandarin, Neroli and Cedar. A few minutes in I was afraid it would just smell like strong soap but it has softened a little into a nice light cologne. Good for today’s volunteering at the middle school.
Have fun at the middle school!
Feminite du Bois today – the most *me* scent of all. I’m doused and loving it, though I’m sure I don’t project very far (I never do). I have no idea what I’d do if they were to ever discontinue it. Probably fly to Morocco to have a talk with Uncle Serge.
It is ridiculously beautiful in New York today. Hope you all have similarly gorgeous weather.
I need to try this one again.
Everyone should try this one again.
FdB is a great signature. One of my BFFs loves it. She’s been wearing it since it was came out under Shiseido. I know she was thrilled when SL brought it back. You smell lovely today.
Thank you!
Some day I intend to smell the original. It must have been gorgeous. Is your BFF part of the online perfume community, or just a FdB fan?
She’s always loved perfume for as long as I’ve known her. I met her when I was young and single and we’ve remained friends over the years. She’s always been a perfumista and is the person who more recently instilled my love of perfume. She’s the girl who can make jeans and a white T-shirt look like a million dollars by throwing on a scarf. Very stylish. Anyway, I’m not sure if she reads NST. I know she reads BDJ and introduced me the blogs.
How lovely!
I’m the one introducing many of my friends to scent, though I’m not sure that any are going to be reading the blogs and such, but no matter what, it’s such a pleasure to see them begin to discover the joy in this stuff. In the meantime, I have all of you to discuss it with every day.
Keep up the good work! Your friends are lucky to have someone like you. 🙂
Try the original! It has more texture. My first vintage score that felt like me.
I’m dying to, but it’s usually a precious commodity and I have to be ready to invest.
Still on a no-buy for at least the next month, but maybe I need to patrol Ebay…
couldn’t reply down below, but I can send you a wee bit, click on my username to email me
I’ve not tried this one but wondered – how strong are the spice notes in this?
I don’t think of it as a much of a spicy scent, but that is me and perhaps my skin has something to do with it. It’s more about those distinctively Lutensian stewed fruits and wood notes, with just a hint of cinnamon and clove that’s (to my mind) blended beautifully.
I still haven’t had a chance to send out your package, so you’re probably going to end up with a sample of this too once my new sampling supplies arrive. 🙂
Where do you get your sampling supplies from? I need to get some.
Hajusuuri sent me a bunch of great information at one point, so I’m going to find that and forward it to you.
It’s honestly not spicy at all, particularly when compared to other Lutenses like Five O’Clock Au Gingembre or Rousse. My bottle dates from 2012ish (that’s when I bought it, anyway) and is mostly a lot of dry cedar and sandalwood plus Lutens dried fruit. Really gorgeous and despite its name completely unisex.
Also, I took a friend on her first sniffing adventure to Bergdorfs and Barneys last night, and she was apparently surprised by what a good time she had. She started by saying she had thought she wasn’t “girly,” and worried at the beginning about whether or not some of the things she liked smelled “too much like a dude,” but we (the helpful sales people and I) showed her that scent wasn’t something she needed to be self-conscious about. By the end, she had loosened up, realized it didn’t have to be a gendered thing, and was free to like whatever she damn well pleased. We had a lot of fun and she walked away with a sample of Santal Carmin, as well as a bar of the soap, and seemed much more comfortable indulging in the fun of it.
That sounds like so much fun! And hey, if she digs masculine scents more, there’s nothing wrong with that! There are plenty that work wonderfully for women.
We also discussed how the perception of what is “masculine” and “feminine” has changed throughout time, and how scent can be influenced by culture. The main thing I drove home is that this is about pleasure and what makes her feel good, and I think she found that a little liberating.
It is so pleasing to introduce friends to this world. Barneys and Bergdorf’s are like starting to learn about art at the Metropolitan Museum!
There’s a reason I start there. 🙂
I took another friend there last month and the JAR experience blew her mind. Such a pleasure.
So glad to hear they are still doing the “JAR experience” — I never hear about the fragrances anymore!
There’s a lovely new gentleman there whose name escapes me for the moment, and the experience is still just as lovely, though I don’t think they make Bolt of Lightning anymore.
Oh dear…I thought that was the best one. But for all I know they have tons of new.
As I understand it, there were sourcing issues, and JAR didn’t want to make something of inferior quality. Thankfully, because I’d mentioned it, the gentleman very generously brought out their remaining bottle and let my friend and I sniff. Such a remarkable scent.
Interesting, thanks!
What fun! Santal Carmin…I still am hoarding the sample I got because it is lovely. I do need to give FdB another try. I loved it on paper and it disappeared on my skin. Maybe it is just I couldn’t smell it. You do smell wonderful….
So sorry to hear it disappeared on you! Isn’t it strange how that works? It blends nicely and projects some even with my scent-eating skin, but then I think of that scent experiment you, TheGoddessRena and I did with Rose Rebelle Respawn and how remarkably different the same scent smelled on each of us, so perhaps I shouldn’t be too surprised. Maybe you just have to douse yourself. 🙂
Yes, dousing yourself with most of the remaining sample is the last and best test!
It’s amazing how we’re somehow indoctrinated into thinking personal fragrances are gender specific. Of course it’s silly when you think about it, but most people take it as an unspoken rule or never even pause to consider how a marketing gimmick became a societal norm. Very interesting! And a little scary, when I consider how subliminal messages have invariably linked the fougere accord with masculinity in my mind, even before I knew what a fougere was!
Also, happy to hear about your friend’s first sniffing adventure! How did you talk her into it when she didn’t consider herself as “girly”?How did you talk her into it when she didn’t consider herself as “girly”? How did you talk her into it when she didn’t consider herself as “girly”? Hopefully it has encouraged you two to become closer and will end up having more fun together. How did you talk her into it when she didn’t consider herself as “girly”? And glad the SAs were helpful to you!
She actually approached me not long ago, saying “I think I’d like to find a perfume.” She figured I was “the expert” (hardly!) and so I could advise her on how to search. I think she’d decided that this would be a concession to “girliness” and give it a try, but I don’t think she realized how much fun she would have while doing it. Maybe now she’ll want to take this little adventures on the regular. 🙂
We probably jist missed each other! I was at Barneys a little bit before 6 and stayed about 10 minutes. Besides the samples I pre-requested, I also got a manufacturer’s sample of FdB!
I’m coming to Morocco with you if they ever make a decision as stupid as that. I absolutely adore FdB as well. You smell gorgeous.
Although I never fell in love with FdB it is a lovely addition to the brand, and I would be confounded if it was discontinued. While we’re there, we may as well enjoy the architecture, food, and mint tea 😉
This idea gets better and better.
A trip to Morocco with Annikky – I like this idea! Maybe we should do it even if he doesn’t discontinue it. A perfume pilgrimage, among other things.
Morocco, I haven’t been there since 1974! Can I invite myself along? The medina in Fez is fantastic.
That and Natori are you signature scents 🙂
I think I don’t wear Natori as much as my reputation might indicate, but maybe that should change. 🙂 I’ve been using Fragrantica to track what I wear every day, which is actually pretty helpful. Does anyone else do that?
Not regularly, although I never knew they tracked it every day! Perhaps I’ll make it a habit once I’ve tried all my samples and get back to a more consistent perfume wardrobe.
If you go over to the right side of the screen in your profile, you can indicate what you’re wearing on a particular day. Then you can go back and look at your perfume timeline to see what your patterns might be. I enjoy it, but I’ve also gotten in the habit recently of indicating there what I’m wearing on a particular day or night.
SL Rahät Loukoum. It’s sweet, but it’s a layered, nuanced kind of sweetness and it fits me like a glove.
Yum. Maybe I will wear a drop of that later today.
Mmmm…I’ve never seen that one! I just looked it up and it sounds amazing. Can you give me your review? Maybe compare it to some of the other SLs? I LOVE most of their scents.
In Bottega Veneta just because its so easy. But with a predicted high near 80, I’m wondering if I’ll appreciate it as much in the summer. It’s pretty, but seems like the “promise of summer” I get from it meant more in cold weather. ?
BV is so pretty. I’m not sure if I’d wear it in high temps either but I bet you smell great!
So easy and so elegant.
I can’t handle BV in the height of summer, but I’ve definitely worn Eau Legere when it was hot
I wear this one year-round and appreciate it year-round!
Shocking de Schiaparelli, smells like a mashup of Miel de Bois and Bal a Versailles.
Honeyed flowers and civet. 🙂
Sounds delish!
“Honeyed flowers and civet” is exactly right. I’ve only ever smelled Shocking as a decant, and god knows what the vintage is, but I thought of it as a cross between Miel de Bois and Tabu (because carnations).
So obviously you smell great today.
Wow! That is something!
Thanks Everyone!
Four hours on, it is a beautiful haze with benzoin emerging.
I have a vintage mini lurking about somewhere. I’ll have to wear it one day. It sounds very intriguing!
SOTD = Lonesome Rider. Not my favorite Tauer, a little too smoky to begin with, but so lovely later I can push thru the smoke…I have not yet found the forgotten thing I will wear tomorrow. 🙂
I found something this morning that I not only forgot I had, I forgot it even existed, ever. That might be my choice for tomorrow.
Now I can’t wait to find out what that thing is!
It’s not exciting! Now I feel like I need to come up with something better 😉
I’m sure Robin’s extreme forgetfulness balances your excellent memory for this challenge. Excited to see what everyone wears tomorrow! I’ve been deliberately not looking through my samples in the meantime…
I was lucky enough to sample Lonesome Rider at the grand open for Fumerie Parfumerie, and ended up shocking our group of NSTrs by how tame it became on my skin. Do you still get smoke in the drydown or is it all iris (this was my experience)? Or do you get something completely different?
I get smoke only for the first 15 minutes, then it dries down to iris and some leather.
ok. I haven’t smelled this one yet. but can you compare it to Lonestar Memories? the names make me think they’re similar or at least in the same vein but maybe not?
It smells quite different to me from Lonestar Memories, which was a thick powdery leather and smoke scent. This one does have the same notes, but it is more sheer and less powdery/thick.
Since the smoke is my least favorite part, it goes on longer for me, but fades after a couple hours. 6 hours on, I have sweet iris sort of blended into mild sueded leather, accompanied by faint remnants of smoke with occasional sparkles of pepper. I am surprised that I find this all very soothing.
Ha, so true!!
Hmmm…how many sprays? After 20 minutes or so I don’t get any smoke OR leather 🙁 Perhaps I’ll try again 🙂
I pretty much started the community project early. Right now, I’m in Amouage Gold. I couldn’t remember for the life of me why I don’t wear it often. It’s to the point of too much perfume and shouldn’t be worn often. But I do like it.
Yep, you smell gorgeous!
Gold is fantastic! I don’t wear it as much as I should
I put some on yesterday and really enjoyed it. Need to wear it more often (I say this about so many things – a sure sign of too much perfume).
Thanks to the generous and wonderful hajusuuri, I am wearing Mohur extrait as my SOTD from the last split meet. I tested the EDP and thought it was nice. However, the extrait is beautiful and I love being able to spray, which, IMO is much better than dabbing with this one. Thanks again hajusuuri!
So gorgeous! Brave of you to spray vs. dab 😉
Only two sprays… so not that brave really. 🙂
Mohur extrait! It’s the best…
🙂 and I’m in the spray camp as well! You smell gorgeous!
Spring is here this morning…..What a beautiful day!
SOTD: Black Opium. I crave this scent sometimes….it’s definitely in my top 5 favorites right now!
I have just a tiny bit of Black Opium left, and have retired it until I decide if I want more. I wish it came in body products.
Have you tried Bath and Body Works Cashmere Glow? To my nose it smells almost identical to Black Opium (the bath products, not the perfume).
Oh my goodness!! I will pop in this weekend and give it a good sniff! I would LOVE to have shower gel that smells that heavenly! 🙂 Thanks for the 411!
Actually, I do have Cashmere Glow. I haven’t used it in awhile though. Now I’m going to do a comparison. Thanks!
Boo hoo!! Cashmere Glow is G-O-N-E. Discontinued forevermore. Such is life in the fast lane of fragrance!
I did spend a good half hour sniffing and spraying, and picked up some Agave Papaya Sunset products. Generally I do NOT go for BBW fragrance mists, because the alcohol opening turns me off. But this one is really pretty excellent! I can’t wait to layer some Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao with it next week, and see what happens! 🙂
It’s POSSIBLE that the Easter Bunny might have picked up a few goodies tonight….hee hee
I also got the Agave Papaya Sunset in the body cream! You and I seem to have similar scent tastes. Check at the BBW website. Some discontinued scents can still be ordered.
I’m in my trusty 31 Rue Cambon. Always perfect when I don’t have time to think about what to wear.
NIce. You smell lovely today.
That scent is definitely an easy one to wear all the time. 🙂
great choice. I love this one.
You smell heavenly!
That’s what I started with, I needed it for today’s tough teaching and meeting sessions.. it is and remains my empowering scent. Now trying the news rose couture (Elie saab), Nice but not me.
SL El Attarine from a nearly forgotten decant. El Attarine smells autumnal to me in a wistful, bittersweet way.
I am drinking some Huang Shan Mao Feng that was given to me by a Chinese student. It is very nice, but I am drinking it more in sort a sip down I have committed myself to doing this year.
I need to start a serious sip down, and stop buying tea. But I never manage to make myself do it.
there are worst things Robin..
SO very true. But my pantry is almost comical…it used to be extra counter space, now it is like a little tea shop.
Than it looks just like my cupboards! It’s becoming farcical, but I will drink all of it, in the end. And buying tea is such a joyful experience, better even than buying perfume.
I don’t talk about tea much here….but I’ve definitely got a little tea store going on too. I bet I have at LEAST 10 boxes of teas….
I’m on a coconut coffee jag right now though! Mmmmmm
El Attarine is another gorgeous frag I don’t wear often enough. You smell great!
I’m Coromandel. While I’m sure I have a forgotten sample I could wear tomorrow, most of the samples I’ve forgotten about were things I didn’t like in the first place, so I’ll probably not participate.
I feel the same way. The ones I have forgotten, I think I forgot on purpose. I just don’t want to wear them. I keep them though, in case they call my name again. You just never know.
I was thinking the same thing Doc. Plus, I don’t really hold on to things that I don’t like. I tend to rehome them. I think this Friday project is really good for perfumista who have been collecting for years. Still, I’m sure that I can come up with something but it probably will just be more of a sample and not a favorite, like you.
Jardin d’Ecrivains George. TOTM (tea of this morning) was the lovely Earl Grey Provence from MF. I love the image you use today!
You smell great! Love George. Still drinking kick butt coffee but wearing the beautiful L’artisan Tea for Two,
I’m so not a coffee person, but I love your choice of perfume!
George isn’t really me, but I am enjoying it.
Isn’t that a great picture?
It’s hilarious!
I should do several Forgotten Weeks, as I have so many neglected samples. I wanted to wear Honore des Pres I Love les Carrottes today, but there was nothing left in the small decant that Austenfan had kindly sent me a while ago (note to self: use your decants!). So I’m in Vamp a NY instead, another sample I haven’t touched for a long time. It’s a great tuberose.
I concur about Forgotten Weeks. And, I keep reading loves about things I haven’t heard of that I want to try. The samples are like Tribbles ( original Star Trek)!!
You smell gorgeous, Vamp is wonderful!
Day off today. supposed to be rainy and about 50 degrees today. No matter, I put on my flip flops and Commodity Mimosa. This one is new for me. It reminds me a lot of Orange Sanguine. More floral, but definitely a burst of orange. It seems to have better staying power too.
Mimosa was the one I liked out of that sample set. I ending up giving the larger bottle to my sister (I’m not big on citrus), but I thought it was pleasant.
SOTD Bvlgari Black. Certainly not forgotten, but hasn’t been utilized recently since I have been focusing on heavier winter weather scents, and then was sidelined by Voratious Vetiver Love.
OOTD ( I want to play along!): black leggings, graphic lace print black and white boyfriend button down, nude heels, and bold lipstick (Cherry Picking by Wet and Wild- so pretty and so cheap!!)
Today is my Friday and I could do a tap dance in joy- 3 day weekends, I LOVE YOU!!
Yay for three-day weekends! Enjoy your day and you smell and look great!
Perfect! The scent, outfit, and weekend! Have fun 🙂
Guerlain Ne M’oubliez Pas. Immediate, unconditional love? Well, perhaps not “unconditional,” but it’s QUITE good, and I’d put it to good, regular use if one of those gorgeous bottles wanted to come live with me (for a fraction of the price).
It really is a gorgeous bottle.
Gah I was surprised by how much I liked this one. I don’t typically like Guerlains, but man, I was immediately smitten with this one! Probably because it is so expensive. 🙂
Oh, I knew I’d like it. I’m just kinda sad that I do… also because it’s so expensive AND because it only exists on a different continent. 🙂
sotd: Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage
Beautiful!
I used to love watching my brother play Mario, more than playing it myself.
I found a little sample of Enlevement au Serail I forgot I had and finished it off. Lucky for me it doesn’t really move me. Reminds me of Rochas Femme.
Thanks for that description Elisa. I was curious about it but since it was discontinued, I figured that I’d never know.
It also reminds me of Natori. It’s nice, just doesn’t blow my socks off.
Well, at least you’ve used it up now and made room for something you love. I’ve been keeping my empty sample bottles in one of those gauzy drawstring bags to see how many I’ve use up. Plus, it kind of works like a sachet in my lingerie drawer.
Ooh, nice idea.
Aha, yes, Femme. I suppose that’s why I didn’t love Enlevement… that fruity chypre thing. The florals in it are lovely.
Yes, quite lovely materials. But for the overall gauzy effect I could definitely get something similar with the much cheaper Natori.
Now I’m going to email you about hyacinths!
Sampling Divine perfumes today! Austenfan gets the enabler pin as well as some others
When someone mentions Divine, I immediately think of Austenfan, every single time.
Yes-I have that association now as well. This is my 3rd one in the line to sample, but have not samples the original Divine.
I can see why Austenfan has so many in her collection. They are so well done and beautiful.
I’m so sorry! 😉
I’ve been wanting to try Divine perfumes too. Your enjoyment of this line is infectious.
That the right word-Infectious!!!
So far I have tried L’ame Soeur, L’infante and L’Inspiratrice
All so lovely!
Good! I find them very easy to wear and just lovely, for want of a better word. I hope you enjoy them!
Thank you again to all of you who wished me well during my surgery yesterday. I absolutely just adore all of you.
When I arrived home I had a package waiting at the front door. It was a mini of Hermes Eau de Pamplemousse Rose from the splitmeet. (Thanks Hajusuuri!) I plan on watching TV and surfing the internet all day in my pajamas while doused in it. (But I would totally be playing Super Mario Bros. if I still had my old Nintendo.)
Tea of the moment is Bigelow decaf Constant Comment. Because my throat still hurts from the tubes and sometimes you just need good ol’ Constant Comment.
I’m so ready for this week to be over, but wish a happy Thursday/Mario Day to the rest of you. 🙂
I am glad all went well and you are in good spirits. Constant Comment is delicious and you never need to justify that.
So glad you’re home and lounging!
Lucy, it’s wonderful to see you here today and I’m so glad you’re home and healing! I love Constant Comment, and it reminds me of my mom and her best friend getting together in the afternoons to have a nice long chat and this was their drink of choice. I think I’ll have some later myself!
Glad that you’re on the mend Luci!
Happy things went well and you are recuperating and smelling fab, all at the same time!
Glad to hear you are resting well!
Wishing you a speedy recovery. 🙂
Glad you’re back! Rest well.
Have a lovely lazy day, Lucy!
Isn’t hajusuuri a miracle worker? Simply amazing.
Enjoy your wafting and resting! You deserve every bit of it.
Glad you are recovering! Be well & smell even better!!!
Hooray for well-timed packages and being home! Enjoy your cuppa!
Good you are at home and take this time to relax!
Wishing you a fragrant and speedy recovery!
So glad you’re home and recovering now! And you can douse yourself in perfume!!! Happy time 🙂
I know you must be glad the surgery is over. I hope you recover soon. Have a relaxing day 🙂
Happy Lounging and a speedy recovery!
Glad to hear you are convalescing. Enjoy your quiet day and tea. I’ll be joining you in the decaf Constant Comment this afternoon, one of my favorites.
So glad to hear you’re home and resting, with lovely new perfume too, really good news.
I love Constant Comment (with FULL caffeine! LOL)……I’m a Bigalow gal for sure! Glad you are better!
My March Scentbird scent is Eau de Pamplemousse Rose! Now I’m excited to try it next week! 🙂
Glad you’re on the mend! ihadanidea, LizzieB and another perfume friend trekked over to the Hermes Parfumerie downtown. The SA Gustave was very attentive and he emailed me the following week that it was the first time he helped someone who came with a list — committing 16 perfumes to memory would be like playing with fire!
Today (my notes tell me) I am wearing L’Artisan “Batucada”. This is many things – citrusy, refreshing and exotic for example – but it isn’t perfume. It’s a beautiful ephemeral experience that dies away within moments. Sadly they price it as if it were a real perfume, and I’m going to pass. :^)
I think L’Artisan has many nice scents but they all seem to have the same problem in that they don’t last. I’ve resisted buying their perfumes although there were a few that I’ve really enjoyed. It’s a shame really. I wonder if they were always so watered down?
Safran Troublant is one that goes on and on. I’ve been sampling this one and even after washing it still lingers. Incredibly persistent.
I only have a dabber sample of Safran.. I only tried it once and briefly (too cold at the time). I’ve been meaning to pull it out. Now that it is warming up, it may be the perfect time to try it again.
I have this one, as well as Tea for Two, and they both last well on my skin. I think living in a warm, humid climate helps. Also, I generally do an all over unscented body oil rub down, which really grabs the perfume and hangs onto it, so that may be a factor as well.
That’s kind of funny you say that because perfumes tend to not last long on you! 8 sprays of this lasts 4 hours on me and the poof! The worst one for longevity on me is CdG Red Carnation – 4 sprays, barely 30 minutes!
Second day of Chanel No. 5 EDT. One of my fellow booksellers commented on how good I smelled. She seemed surprised that it was Chanel No. 5 because someone else we work with wears it too and I smelled different. I know. How lucky are we? Marsha wears the EDP and there is obviously a noticeable difference. I love the body lotion which seems far more floral to my nose and I do layer it with the EDT which does not have the greatest longevity.
My mom has pretty much given up the EdT and Eau Premiere and (modern) parfum to use the No. 5 body creme, exclusively. It lasts better, projects better, sticks around better, and for some reason I can’t explain, just smells better on her than the other iterations.
There is something about perfume in lotion form. It kinda reminds me that perfume was originally in oils. I love wearing my TF Noir Femme in the emulsion form, for example, when it was super cold out, and it lasted all day.
I have my mother in law the Chanel No. 5 body lotion for Christmas, and it smells wonderful on her.
It doesn’t smell wonderful on me though.
I love wearing the No. 5 EDP and Eau Premiere.
I haven’t had much luck with the EDT. It turns ugly on me.
I have the body cream, which smells a lot like the sensual elixir – more floral as you say with the lotion. I also have the edp, edt, extrait, and Eau Premiere. Each of them kind of focuses on a different facet of No 5, so I’m not surprised that you smell differently than you co-worker. The body creme wears like an edp – the scent lasts forever.
No.5 EDT is a staple for me when I travel – so elegant, so easy and light enough to be inoffensive. This is another perfume that doesn’t last on me – 3 sprays from the travel atomizer is gone in about 2 hours tops and really, more often than not, around 1 hour.
I’m wearing a spritz of Dame Rose de Mai Soliflore because it’s very pretty and will have worn off by the time I get to the mall.
A note on the lovely attars, in case anybody’s interested, Nankun Kodō turned too cinnamon near the end (but I still love the opening enough that I want some) and I ended up drowning it with the Pure Incense attar.
Pure Incense seems to be the attar version of traditional church incense and it is insanely lovely. The smokiness and warmth that was hinted at in the Japanese incense is more pronounced and, of course, it has a completely different feel. Much chewer and very rich but still sparkling in the top. It’s probably the prettiest and coziest incense I’ve tried. If Nankun is an incense for a morning meditation, Pure is incense for an evening of reading by the fire. I want both but suspect that Pure Incense would get more wear just because there were no jarring notes at all.
I’m interested! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the attars. I’m waiting for the weather to cool off again before I start my exploration.
I booked marked the seller last night but was waiting for your reports. The dealer had one called something like 1000 Flowers or Ocean of Flowers… (something like that). Not sure if you have that as one of your samples? If you do, would you give me your opinion?
Ugh… that was bookmarked..
Ocean of Flowers didn’t wow me. I was surprised that my experience was similar to Kafka’s (if you didn’t know, Kafkaesque is the source of this madness as she’s reviewing a bunch of them). I thought it was going to be great, but it turned out I kept looking around for somebody’s dryer exhaust. I usually don’t mind the laundry musk type scents and in the beginning is was almost nice, but it really got on my nerves in this case. I actually laughed out loud when I read her review because I had thought it was just me. It’s a popular fragrance on the Basenotes thread so YMMV.
So glad you told me! I didn’t see any sample sets for testing, as you mentioned. However the seller did say that she/he? would include a sample of the scent that you purchase so you can test the scent before breaking the seal. However, I prefer to bug you since that is a lot less expensive than return postage to the UK. I’m not big on laundry scents either. Sounds like the incense scents are the best of those tested so far. Looking forward to your thoughts on this line as you continue to test.
Also, I’ll check Kafka’s blog for her reviews.
I love incense and that attar sounds amazing.
I’m in Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur today, a lovely, smooth floral suede.
That is a beautiful leather, very elegant.
Wearing Pear + Olive today. I always enjoy wearing this one!
I was distressed to open my purse last night when I was out (organizational meeting for track&field booster parents at the high school… seven years I’ve had a kid involved with running sports at that school and there’s never been a booster group! well past time for it) and find that my decant of Byredo Flowerhead had leaked. GAH. I really liked it, and I was not going to spring for a bottle of it.
On the up side, my purse smells GREAT. Makeup bag, cloth bag inside leather purse, everything.
Wearing an almost-forgotten decant of Nina Ricci Coeur Joie today. Not sure if I like it or not.
That happened with me and a decant of Le Labo Bergamote 22 just the other day! RIP, Byredo Flowerhead.
Been there; it’s such a bummer, but hey, at least your purse smells good! I had a perfume oil bottle break inside a purse once, and that amount of [musk] oil smelled truly, truly horrifying.
At least it leaked somewhere that you can still smell it? :/
I am always afraid of an untimely leak too. At least it’s a fragrance you like!
Put a cloth hanky or a scarf in the purse and you will still have that wonderful scent.
I own Flowerhead. Would you like some as a replacement? I’d be more than willing to send you some! let me know at madtolive88510 (it’s a gmail email address).
I’m sampling Dame’s Rose de Mai today. It started off rather pretty, and I was hopeful as rose often turns sour on me. This had a slight whiff of cat pee which dissipated, but unfortunately now I’m getting a hint of monkey cage. I doubt anyone else would have this experience. Just sayin’.
I’ve been accumulating vintage Fleurs de Rocaille for a while, and I now have a Baccarat strawberry bottle of the extrait that I bought off of etsy. I’m wearing a dab of it, and thinking that either all the top notes are gone, or it is not actually Fleurs de Rocaille. The bottle is not particularly special, either. I feel like an idiot, because I also don’t want to return it. You guys are the only ones who I will share this particular tidbit with. 😉
Monkey cage? 🙂 Poor you.
Sorry to hear about both the rose and the fleurs. That said, your animal-related perfume vocabulary is unparalelled.
Swap it on….
Return it if you paid $$ There is no shame in that
I once return a bottle of No 5 once-along with a complaint letter. Got my refund.
Hello everyone. No perfume today, as I’m working from home today and burning a Cire Trudon Abd el Kader candle, and don’t want any personal fragrance to interfere. If only they would make a personal-fragrance version of this!
That candle is on my wish list! Have a great day at home.
Today I’m wearing Diptyque’s Essences Insensées 2015. I do wonder what note they’ll focus on in 2016.
Gorgeous, warm and sunny day here in NYC.
Do you like it? I do 🙂
I love it. Such a great purchase and I actually really enjoy the bulb atomizer. I feel like I should be sitting at a French vanity overlooking an amazing garden with lots of flowers in vases around my room.
Oh my, this sounds beautiful!
You smell fab! It suits the weather perfectly, today.
I also put on some of the EI Jasmine from my solid compact. My fingers are crossed they’ll do either something resinous or a big fantastic rose.
You smell wonderful! This is on my wish list, a most beautiful jasmine.
Then I must send you some! 75mls is a lot for little ol’ me to handle.. keep an eye out 😉
Squeeeee!
its so nice today! I walked many many blocks to bring my toddler to her check up visit. My husband took the morning off and we both walked together. Enjoy the day
Those are the best times – small moments together.
Sorry to hear about both the rose and the fleurs. That said, your animal-related perfume vocabulary is unparalelled.
This was for Holly, obvs. It’s ten to five here.
I had a Shalimar craving this morning, so Shalimar it is today. It’s comical how much my cats hate Shalimar.
My cats’ opinions never ceases to amuse me, even when my amusement is perhaps at their expense. I’m almost ashamed to admit how cute it can be when they really hate a smell.
I do feel slightly bad for my amusement. It’s just the look of betrayal on their faces is almost human.
My cat prefers chypre scents. Each time I wear Sballo, he tries to lick it off. 🙂
Mine do too, actually. I’ve been licked when I wear Femme or Mitsouko and they particularly like a number of SSS scents. Maybe the naturals in there…
Now that you mention it, he like Mitsouko too!
When I wear SSS Rose Musc, my boy kitty gloms onto my wrist and sucks and slobbers all over, and purrs and kneads, and will keep it up for as long as I let him. I am not aware of wearing anything that he hates.
Ha! I have a cat that likes chypres too, especially the greener ones. He’ll lick my wrist and then smack his mouth like it tastes terrible (which I’m sure it does), but then he’ll sniff and start licking all over again.
that made me chuckle. 🙂
My cat is indifferent to everything.
He is my little gravetar photo. Want to borrow him and where Shalimar? HA!
Yes, the look on his face says he is just as indifferent to being your avatar as he is to everything else. Adorable, gave me a much-needed chuckle today!
Your cat is adorable. He looks like a cartoon character in that little thumbnail. Agree with Laila. He almost looks like he’s rolling his eyes at us 😀
I’m wearing Vetiver Fatal today, from the Atelier Cologne discovery sample set. I have had the set for a couple of years, but only used a few of the samples. This is one I’ve never tried. I think I would like it, but it has disappeared, and now all that I can smell is the sachet packet that I put in my sweater drawer.
Providence Perfume Co. Hindu Honeysuckle. It has a strong jasmine opening and now there is a soft slightly green floral presence that is quite lovely. It doesn’t smell like the honeysuckles I love when I walk through the local park, and the notes don’t list honeysuckle, but it’s nice for a sunny warm day.
I was at a small yoga retreat which was rejuvenating and calming. I wanted to that positive energy to Waterdragon, SublimiSomnium, and everyone who has written about challenges at work, but also at home. One of the wonderful teachers ends the retreat reminding us not to let anyone disturb our peace – that would be the inner peace we create. Well, easier said than done.
Oh, a yoga retreat–that sounds lovely. I am sure that you had a wonderful time.
And, thanks for the words to live by.
Thanks Wendysue! I’m actually trying to reclaim my inner peace right now. Those words helped:)
: – ) .
I’m starting a day early on neglected fragrances. SOTD is Badgley Mischka Fleurs de Nuit, which I haven’t worn in forever. But immediately made me crave more juicy jasmine notes, so I layered it with some of the Diptyque Essences Insensees 2015 jasmine. I am swooning in jasmine right now!
Sounds lovely Ann!
Testing Gris Montaigne. It is so darn pleasant. The Dior website calls it a chypre. I am really bad at identifying chypre beyond a general fizz of citrus with oakmoss… but this does not “feel” like a chypre. It feels pretty. At $210 for 4.25 oz, it is a bargain, but what’s a gal going to do with 4+ oz? On me it wears like a edt, but I note that others find it more lasting.
To me it is a subtle, warm rose–not sweet–with a low acid, slightly spicy citrus, tweaked w resin.
Must ruminate. Anyone else have thoughts about this one?
I really like it. It’s classy and subtle, wears great in winter with cashmere sweaters but is not too strong to wear in warmer weather as well. I bought the gallon jug, just because.
Oh, no, is this another advanced perfumista test? “I knew I was a perfumista when I bought the gallon jug of (fill in fragrance of your choice – extra points if the name is not in your native language, but you do not have to look up how to spell it…!) And then immediately started giving bits of it away, in order to justify buying the back up bottle!
I guess we should fasten our seat belts! (But Gris Montaigne might be worth the ride 😉 )
I have a longstanding love of chypres. And I can see where Dior would classify it that way from its notes. But I just don’t get that from Gris Montaigne. It’s missing the oakmoss factor. I have a large bottle and would be thrilled to send you a decant if you’d like. Email me- laugsb at sbcglobal dot net.
I think Mario is in San Francisco! Still have my cold and have lost most of my ability to smell and taste, and it’s a rainy day. I think it all calls for a blast of Sables. It’s very easy for me to forget what perfume samples I have, so tomorrow should be easy.
Good call, looks like it.
this morning I’m in Rose Nacrée du Désert. I can’t help myself. I reallly want a bottle of this along with Songe d’un Bois d’Été. I know they happen to be trending right now, but I love love love (and I have in the past before the surge) “middle eastern style” perfumes. and I like actual middle eastern perfumes as well. 😉
You smell magnificent!
I just got samples of all three from that series. You smell lovely!
I want that one too, along with Rose Barbare. I have become such a rose fiend.
me too! rose has been my jam lately.
love love this series!
My second-to-last application of Lush Grass shower gel used up this morning, followed by my forgotten and ignored Encre Noir from the back of the cupboard.
I think I might have too much perfume…though I wear two (sometimes three) different perfumes every day, almost everything hardly gets to come out and play. Poor dears.
Same for me – and yet that doesn’t seem to stop me from wanting more.
Me neither! 🙂
I think that it’s Trefle Pur for me today.
It’s been raining lately, but it’s clear blue skies today. I’ll be running around town, doing chores, and that ‘happy greeness’ will be just right.
That’s a nice one. I was thinking of it just the other day.
SOTD: Late waking up this morning! Did a much needed wake up spritzing all over (from the fridge) of Eau Universalle (L’Occitane) and then a bit of Eau Premiere to top off. Eau Universalle is something that I wore all last summer (which was incredibly hot for Portland metro) as a base, and I bought the huge bottle on sale at the time.
There are donuts in the office, AND CUPCAKES, which means a good hour of HIIT cardio training when I get off work! 🙂
OOTD: Indigo jeans again with a linen T shirt and white raincoat. Rhinestone necklace and big floral scarf.
You smell great, Ede !
Fortunately for my waist, the wolves in my office devour treats in record time. LOL. 🙂
Hee! I actually do this: I eat a half and just enjoy each bite. By the time I am done with 1/2 a donut, I notice how heavy and oily it can be, so that keeps me satisfied. The cupcakes are meh, so I’ll pass.
I have noticed that as I get older, I am a bit more selective with treat nibbles! Still, a good donut is a good donut!
have cupcakes and donuts for me
SOTD is Serge Lutens Une Voix Voire (dabbed on).
I’m afraid I will have to stop spraying perfume on myself
before going to work. I got so much grief from my boss yesterday with Le Labo Santal 33. He told me to go home on my lunch time and take a shower because the smell of my obnoxious perfume was permeating the office. I should have known better than wear Santal 33, because the last time I wore it to the office, he reacted the same way.
Wow, that was rude. Your boss is a curmudgean!
He is more than a curmudgeon!
He is obviously a miserable human being and enjoys spreading it around. Very disrespectful to you and disturbing on many levels. Do you have an HR department?
I’m so sorry this happened.
Thanks Gi, but it’s not the first time and he even worse faults than disliking my perfume.
I’m actually really shocked that this kind of thing happens. It sounds so humiliating, I’m very sorry for you.
Fortunately we don’t have rules about perfume in my country, so I can wear what I like.
Wow that’s horrid. Your boss is a grump plus he has no taste or appreciation for culture. Santal 33 is beautiful!
I think you should secretly spray the interior of his desk drawers with some MKK.
Ha! Great idea. Time to get a new boss. Mine loved all my perfumes and would even buy some for me while on his business trips.
How sweet! Restores my faith in (co-working) humanity.
oh my goodness, I’m so sorry that happened with your boss, but I am glad you shared this because I have an unproven theory. I think there are some people who don’t smell sandalwood notes the way others do and so they find them overwhelming or harsh.
Or maybe your boss had a past run-in with someone unpleasant who wears Santal 33 and he is reacting to that memory. It is a well known scent in some circles.
Keep dabbing and wearing the scents you love. Years ago when I worked in an office I would often spritz the wool lining of my trench coat with a favorite scent so I could smell it during the day, but nobody could figure out who was wearing fragrance. 🙂
Undercover. 🙂
Wow. I have a hard time understanding how Santal 33 could be labeled ‘obnoxious.’ If anything, it seems rather neutral and easy-going to me. It’s not as if you sprayed yourself 8 times with Fracas before walking in the door!
Perhaps you can find a stealthy moment to spill a sample of Secretions Magnifiques in his office? >:-D
HAHAHA. I agree. spill the ELDO. he’ll be begging for mercy.
Secretions Magnifiques? Bwahh-haha!
I hope you’re able to get out of this miserable working situation as soon as possible, because even if he’s so delicate as to have something like Santal 33 offend him to that degree, it is no excuse for treating you that way. Rude and unprofessional.
A problem with Santal 33?
You need a new boss and as soon as you find one, wear Kouros to delight this bully. I learned over time that unless you absolutely can’t find anything else, no job is worth being the target of the day of a maladjusted, insecure individual. You are so valuable and you smell great too!
Or maybe he really is allergic to something in that one, which makes him hypersensitive to it, since what you describe is clearly a massive over-reaction. Do you wear other things that he doesn’t really notice?
No excuses for him. He could explain the issue in dispassionate manner and not treat her like a leper .
True. No excuses.
Thanks to our lovely Hajusuuri’s efforts on our behalf during the last splitmeet, I’m enjoying my travel size bottle of the bright and beautiful Jour d’Hermes today. A perfect scent for a sunny day in the 60s. Thank you again, H!
Woo hoo!
Whoo-hooo! It’s-a go time! I always wanted to be Toad.
I hope I can convince the teenagers to dust off their Wii console today. The sounds of Super Mario Bros are a happy reminder of their younger years.
Lost and then found again scent of the day:
Roger & Gallet Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille Eau de Cologne a perfect reminder of old school perfumery with a perfect word-salad name.
For me JMF lean’s a bit into gentlemen’s barber shop territory, and I love it. Acqua di Parma Colonia and Pour Un Homme de Caron are very different scents but great in that way, too.
I love that Mario photo. Now I have the Super Mario Bros. music stuck in my head!
SOTD is Stella McCartney Stella (original formulation) with Andalou 1000 Roses body butter.
you smell incredible.
Thanks! I love this scent, and it brings happy memories because I got my first bottle when it was launched while I was studying in London. When I got home it wasn’t really available in the US yet, so for a while I had it before everyone else did. Probably the only time that’ll happen for me! ????
Me too, I’ve got the Mario music stuck in my head.
Let’s-a go!
I’ve got the urge to dig out my old original Nintendo system and play!!!
Ooh – what do you think of that body butter?
I like it a lot (as well as other Andalou products) because it’s got great skin care ingredients and is green/non-toxic. The rose scent is very soft and fades fairly quickly. For more strongly scented body butters I also like the Pacifica ones.
I was never a Mario person, but Tetris!! I used to hear that music in my dreams.
Yes!! I automatically think of playing Tetris whenever I hear The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. ????
Today it’s a soft application of Narciso for work. Love this one, and it was my treat for myself when I first got hired.
I received a sample of Narciso yesterday. It is really pretty. I haven’t had chance to fully apply it.
We have had some warm weather this week so I broke out the PHI. It really does develop beautifully in the warmth, lots of leather and musk with the ever-present rose in the dry down. I’m thinking of selling off several bottles and inviting a couple of friends over for testing/gifting, but that one is a keeper.
SOTD will be something with sandalwood in it, maybe Fragonard Santal. I’m doing double duty this week with my elderly client who is crazy about sandalwood.
You are so kind to waft sandalwood for someone who loves it. I love it, too.
I have a small carved sandalwood picture frame from India, a souvenir from a wedding there. I keep it in a drawer or on a bureau in a small space to concentrate the scent. It is wonderful even after years have passed.
How lovely. You know it’s very difficult to get sandalwood items in India these days (I tried! The mala vendor on the corner had some contraband sw beads in a plastic bag that he strung together while I waited) so you are very lucky.
I was at my job and the most delicious fragrance kept wafting up at me. I realized it was coming from a necklace a friend gave me in India. It’s tiny rock crystal beads with a rudraksha seed at the center. The scent was coming from the rudraksha. (FYI Rudraksha seeds are those wrinkly mala beads you see on all the sadhus in India and I think they are particularly awesome as scent holders because they have so many deep pockets and folds.) I realized that the seed had absorbed whatever perfume I was wearing when I last wore the necklace but I couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was or place the deep dry down scent. Then I suddenly got it. Trayee!
Trying out Byredo Blanche today and I’m trying to come up w/ 2 to 3 word phrases to describe fragrances like LT does…
Fizzy lemon aldehydes…not bad.
I get lemon but Fragrantica seems to disagree…such is life.
I am wearing Bruckner Gold Aoud, which is a scent made by Micallef for the Bruckner Perfumery in Germany.
Perhaps tomorrow I will pull out my SL Mandarine Mandarin which I have not worn in ages. It is special to me because it was a split that I purchased with a perfumista friend who has since passed away from breast cancer. I remember her fondly whenever I see the bottle.
Dior Dune for me today, as it’s already 75 degrees here and the day promises fine weather. I’m off to work soon and look forward to driving with the car windows all open.
I had moved past game-playing when Mario came out; I was a strip Space Invaders person. (Rules called for removing an article of clothing when something was blown up.)
It’s clear with intermittent showers here and I felt like something spring-like, so I’m wearing En Passant for a day of cleaning the kitchen. I wanted cake last night, so I made one, ate a huge piece, and went to bed, only to wake up to what looks like a small flour and sugar explosion on the countertop. I don’t remember it being quite so messy last night.
Clearly someone else also wanted cake… someone messy.
Also, Stip Space Invaders? 🙂
What a lovely combination of scent and activity, Mmm the mingling smell’s of cake in the oven and En passant, wonderful!
I’m wearing Atelier Pomelo Paradis today.
When my son was little he loved Mario. His birthday cake one year was Marion, Luigi and Wario.
I was more of the Centipede video game generation.
You smell great! That’s such a good one from AC.
We had Centipede on our family’s Commodore 64! ????
I can’t remember what I forgot I had. So today I’m wearing my sample of le labo ylang, which I at least have neglected to take for a spin in a while…
Like several people today, I’m wearing rose, too: Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile. This might be my favorite rose.
It’s spring and time to rotate the fragrance wardrobe. At last spring’s Swapmeet I got many different roses from great swappers! I’m excited about wearing wearing all of them again.
Happy Mario day! I used to love playing the original Mario Brothers, the music of which will score the rest of my day now. Great. 😉
SOTD is OJ Champaca, one of my all-time favs.
Boy, amazing how many ear worms this generated!
A chilly, cloudy, dreary day. I’m stressed out, too many commitments and too many volunteer activities. (Did I really think retirement was sitting back and wondering what I should do today? Ha!). But it’s all good in the end, and I believe in giving back to the community so I’m living my values. Tying up long-neglected loose ends today is my goal, knowing that will help to center and ground me, as will the patchouli in my SOTD, the low-budget-but-very-satisying JS Fancy Nights.
So sorry to hear about the stress, but big props to you for living your values and doing so much good work. Hope the Fancy Nights helps!
Thanks for your knd thoughts. Yes, the fragrance helped and so did getting through my list of minutiae.
Good for u, having integrity and sticking to you’re values will help u to feel grounded, and happy, I’m sure.
Thank you. I’m rewarding myself tonight with a night at the movies. Our classic comedy series has returned and tonight it’s the silliness of Laurel & Hardy and the Marx Bros. on the big screen at our historic theater, guaranteed to put a smile on my face! Now I just need to go in search of a happier fragrance to wear tonight . . .
And you are a volunteer, so you can cut back on your hours guilt free!
Well, theoretically, yes, but I take my volunteer commitments seriously, and besides, I’m Catholic, so there’s no such thing as ‘guilt-free.’ 🙂
SOTD L’ Air d’Rien, this is just so cosy and lovely, all warm skin, incense and vanilla. and it just feels really ‘me’. If I was a signature scent person, (shudder at the thought!) this would probably be it, it never seems boring or inappropriate (at least not to me, I hope others don’t smell the naughty bits on me, that I miss!)
Any Miller Harris/vetiver/lavender/Iris fans in London; Miller Harris boutiques giving away free minis, of new fragrance,no purchase necessary, before launch date on 1st April. I received email today.
I’m wearing Un Jardin en Mediterranee today. I’d had passing thoughts that I should wear this one lately, but then I’d forget about it. So I remembered today.
I forget about this one a lot, too. I wore it all the time when I first got it, then to the back of the cupboard it went.
Holy mackerel! Just returned from errands. Wasn’t through the last intersection 5 seconds and heard a loud boom. A large pickup got hit so hard by a utility van it got knocked, in place, on its passenger side! Someone said they were ok, amen. But too close a call for my comfort. Thank you, Universe.
Wow…glad everyone was ok.
Wearing a spritz of Guerlain Ylang & Vanille, which has faded by lunch. I usually wear it as a bedtime scent, so good to find out how long it actually lasts.
oh, this seems like a perfect bedtime scent. I have been searching for a new one of those… thanks for the mention…
Ever try Barbara Bui Le Parfum? It’s my favorite bedtime scent, soft and woody with just a bit of incense.
It’s interesting how we each experience scents so differently. The Ylang in Ylang & Vanille is so strong on me I can barely tolerate it during the day, I can’t imagine falling asleep to it. It lasts a long time on me.
Oooh! Mario! Fun! All the Princesses died on my watch ;-).
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Sous le toit de Paris
This is one of the perfumes I never want to be without! Citrus, violets, leather, tonka bean and musk. I wish there were body products for this fragrance; a girl can only dream.
I picked up my Barneys Beauty Bag yesterday, along with some additional samples. Frederic Malle went over the top with their Monsieur sample presentation. It came in a 5″x5″x 1″ black box and a brochure (which I have not read or maybe I don’t want to judging by Kevin’s post). I’m somewhat afraid to try it but try it I will. I should be receiving my split of Cuir de Russie soon so I can do a poopiness comparison!
I can’t wait to read your smackdown review between Cuir de Russie and Monsieur. BTW, I spritz on one of the samples you sent, Cedrus, and my husband made me go shower. Not sure if it is supposed to be a leather scent? Talk about poopie! That was fun!???? Tee, hee.
That came from my Fiele Discovery Set. I only tried Pogestemon (sp?) which smelled like head shop patchouli, complete with greasy unwashed hair to me. I didn’t try any others. Kevin wrote reviews on several of the perfumes in this line. Cedrus was one of his favorites (which probably means I wouldn’t like it..or at least that seems to be the case for the vast majority of the perfumes he reviewed and liked).
It was really powerful and I can’t imagine wearing it in public. I had fun testing it.
Oh, I love Sous le Toit. I only have the 30ml bottle but I keep forgetting to do this one as a split – would live to get more. Need to remember that for next time.
Dior Eau Sauvage, because I couldn’t settle on anything else, and because the weather here called for something springtime-y. I always bust out Eau Sauvage when the weather has an upturn around March. Gets me thinking of summer, gin-and-tonics, cut grass, and lemonade. (And sweating at all hours of the day. Luckily Eau Sauvage plays nice with the heat.)
Ah, and I’m ready for gin and tonic (ok, vodka) and the smell of grass that somebody else cut 🙂
