Byredo Super Cedar ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 February 2016 5 Comments

Byredo Super Cedar

Niche line Byredo will launch Super Cedar, a new unisex fragrance, in March.

Super: From the Latin meaning to rise up and onwards, the word is used to describe a superior quality of a person or position in a hierarchy. Furthermore, it describes someone or something that is exceptional, outstanding, or noteworthy.

Cedar: Derived from the Latin “Cedrus” meaning cedar tree, it is native to the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia and the Americas, and is a large evergreen tree with horizontally-spreading branches.

The subtle scent of cedar is a sort of bridge to our youth. It reminds us of hours spent idling at a school desk, our noses held up to a freshly sharpened pencil, breathing in its sharp but warm turpentine scent - even now, just one sniff of it is enough to send a rush of nostalgia to the head.

Super Cedar was developed by perfumer Jérôme Epinette. The notes feature rose, cedar, musk and vetiver.

Byredo Super Cedar is available for pre-order at Essenza Nobile in Germany, in 50 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

It’s cute that they worked Iso-E super into the name. I like it, though it’s hard to justify spending over $100 for a few cents of aromachemical.

Hopefully it’s got more something — I like iso e super too but on its own it does not remind me of pencil shavings. And I love pencil shavings.

Lifelong blind commitment to Byredo makes this a no-brainer for my BUY list.Lol.It helps a lot that Jerome is the perfumer as I ADORE everything he has done so far with Byredo and Atelier.
