Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 January 2016 15 Comments

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche

Yves Saint Laurent will launch Black Opium Nuit Blanche, a new fragrance for women, in February. Black Opium Nuit Blanche is a flanker to 2014's Black Opium, which was a flanker to 1977's Opium. The 'Nuit Blanche' is a reference to the annual arts festival.

The notes feature rice vapor, pepper, orange blossom, peony, black opium coffee accord, vanilla, sandalwood and white musk.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche will be available in 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

Nuit Blanche? Ain’t that an oxymoron?

For the origins of the term:

Nuit Blanche means simply “sleepless night”

Yes, it can mean that, or it can be a reference to the arts festival or the concept of White Night celebrations. In this case I thought it was the latter, but of course perhaps I am wrong, and really, you know, I doubt it will be a critical issue in terms of appreciating, or not appreciating, the fragrance 🙂

I thought ‘nuit blanche’ means ‘all-nighter’ in French.

I know I am in the minority, but I like Black Opium, and look forward to smelling this one. Although, I hope I can’t smell the Peony.

Someone on Twitter was just saying they’re excited about it, so you are not alone!

Black Opium wasn’t a match for me, but it wasn’t a bad fragrance and I am going to give this one a sniff, too!

I am surprised slightly, because I feel that Black Opium just came out, but I guess time is going by faster than I’ve noticed, lol!

I think “Nuit Blanche” is a fascinating concept for a fragrance. I’m less enthused about the Black Opium part. On the plus side, it should be easy to sample!

I am still stuck on “rice vapor.”
