Indie natural line Aftelier has launched Vanilla Smoke, a new natural fragrance.
Vanilla Smoke is a sexy sophisticated smoke-laced vanilla perfume. I have always loved the refined aroma of vanilla absolute from Madagascar for its gorgeous facets of wood, resin and spices. Fine vanilla absolute possesses none of the ubiquitous creamy sweet candy-like notes associated with commercial vanilla fragrances. The dark smokiness of lapsang souchong tea essence has been extracted from tea leaves that were smoked over pinewood. The vanilla becomes even more beautiful when accentuated with the fire and mystery of lapsang. Precious Siam wood offers warm balsamic wood notes that merge seamlessly with the vanilla. Sumptuous saffron brings a touch of the exotic and the faraway, while yellow mandarin with its slightly floral citrus sparkle lifts the opening of the perfume. Meanwhile ambergris insinuates its shimmering presence, creating a luminescence and sheer texture.
Aftelier Vanilla Smoke will be available soon at the brand website, in 30 ml Eau de Parfum ($180), or in 2 ml mini Parfum ($50), 1/4 oz Parfum ($180). Samples are also sold.

This sounds amazing – will have to try it! So far, Cuir de Gardenia is the only Aftelier ambergris animalic that works for me.
Agree — looking forward to this one.
Hi Hajusuuri,
Have you tried the Aftelier Bergamoss yet? Recall you mentioned it a few weeks back. I love Cuir de Gardenia too. Have a sample of Parfum Prive but not sure about it.
anngd, I saw your question on the LWP and wrote a whole bunch there. The short version is yes, I tried it, I LOVE it and succumbed to a full compact. As to Parfum Privee, I’m allergic to something in it. I got a bumpy rash the following day on area of application. I thought it might be the rollerball but it’s made of stainless steel (so I guess there’s no nickel in that). I reported it to customer service and got a store credit.
Sounds absolutely wonderful.
Yep!
Yum!
I read about this yesterday and almost ordered some but the shipping cost more than the $6 sample. Guess I’ll have to wait until I can come up with more stuff to order, but I’m dying to try this.
Was so delighted to get Tango thanks to the last split meet!
I don’t always like smoky notes – I can’t bear Amouage Tribute Attar, for example. But sometimes I do, so this is on my must try list.
