Happy Monday, and happy Memorial Day! What's your fragrance today?
I'm wearing a very light application of Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess.
Reminder: on 29 May we're doing Flirty Friday, and you can interpret that however you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing a very large 😉 application of Goutal’s Sables. I’m not working today but still, I think people should know about this scent; it’s fabulous.
It is fabulous!
You smell fabulous. I often wear it to bed.
Ps I hope Sables gets your brain working for your exams! Best of luck!
I’m wearing ELDO Bijou Romantique. Wonderful.
Hope the day is wonderful too 🙂
It is :). And likewise!
Haie Fleurie du Hameau! I love this scent so much and so glad to have unpacked it this morning.
So glad your things got there!
Unpacking isn’t fun, but it beats being separated from your “stuff.” Comedian George Carlin from the 70s-80s had a great routine about our “stuff” and our attachment to it.
Enjoy your new home, and happy Memorial Day.
Unpacking is way more fun than packing. This is more like opening presents than a chore
Oh, no SOTD, battling a mild case of bronchitis.
Yuck! Tea and lemon, and lots of ibuprofen…. Hope it clears up soon.
Another of my lucky blind buys! Last bottle in the shop, no tester available. I knew it had been discontinued and went for it. No regrets.
I’m glad you’ve got your stuff again.
SOTD = vintage Caron Parfum Sacre…such lovely stuff. Good for a day of remembrance…
Heure Exquise with a trace of yesterday’s Mon Parfum Cherie Par Camille, and the faintest trace of Amouage Gold, I gave my father’s new partner (a very lovely woman) a Travalo with Amouage Gold as a birthday present (big hit).
Oh, what a great present!
I was wearing Heure Exquise last night, and my husband said that he liked it, and that it was perfume for grown ups.
3 of my favourites!
SOTD: Kerbside Violet.
Worn it a few times but I am always a little surprised by how un-sweet it is every time. Not that its a bad thing at all though!
I love it, too.
Woke up late today, not knowing what to wear, so I threw on some Cristalle. It’s my old standby that I never tire of. Happy Memorial Day!
So great to have standbys! Off to work today, so am in one standby, namely Vetiver Pour Elle.
I almost put this one on, but then realized what I would be doing today. For me, this fragrance is too nice just to have on to go to barbeques and outings. Cristalle is a fancy scent that deserves to be worn for more fancy occasions; not to be outside. IMO.
Great choice!
Hazy and Humid here. Wearing Balmain de Balmain.
Regular work day here in Canada. Enjoy your Memorial Day!
Alas, I am at my desk, trying to getting something ready for mid-week since I will be out of the office alot.
However, since no one else will be at their desks, I took the occasion to liberally does myself with a Anima Dulci. smelling of bitter (non Candy-non gourmand) chocolate beans and tropical flowers.
And I am wearing Memorial Day White
I also have said a silent prayer for vets and the families of those who did not return.
That sounds nice…
Hove Carnaval is my SOTD. I have two scents from this small perfumery in New Orleans, and this is one of them. Its a soft/spicy fragrance–good for the summer with all the humidity we have here.
I love Hove Carnaval! I got a little dabber bottle when I was in NOLA last fall, which I carry in my purse for backup when my SOTD fades early. You smell really pretty!
I love it too! Its such a pleasant scent!
I can see why you use it as a backup. It is probably agreeable with most of your perfumes.
I’m heading to NOLA next week on a work trip. What perfume shops do you recommend?
The only thing on my list right now are beignets 😉
Hove Perfumery in the French Quarter is definitely the place to go for rustic local color and nicely done scents. They have soaps and lotions and a little clothing boutique as well as the perfume selection. And beignets are close by!
Thanks!!
Floragal! Bourbon French on Royal Street is wonderful. I don’t know how to copy and paste a url on my iPad but if you google hajusuuri New Orleans, you’ll see my post on New Orleans on Undina’s blog.
Oh, yay! Will definitely check out your post. Thks!!
I agree with Hove and Bourbon French.
Also, Avery Fine Perfumery in the New Orleans Art District is very nice. Lots of hard to find niche scents there.
Saks Fifth Avenue on Canal Street also has a wonderful selection.
We were almost scent twins! I love Bronze Goddess but I decided to go with some Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse and a spritz of Guerlain Terracotta today before I head off to work.
Nice combo!
You might smell better than I do!
I’m at home, reading and writing and wearing Bandit.
Perfect choice for reading and writing!
Thank you! I like Bandit a lot, but I also find it pretty demanding, so it’s good to have time to appreciate and enjoy it.
Yes, it’s a grower for sure. The first time I smelled it, I felt like I’d been bitch slapped by Joan Crawford. But now, on the right occasion, it is really sublime.
Ha! Almost lost my mouthful of tea reading “bitch slapped by Joan Crawford”!! Wonderful 🙂
Hah! What a description. I wish I came up with that 🙂
I’m wearing Musc Tonkin again today and have caved and ordered a FB since my second little decant has lasted me little time at all. We are enjoying a drippy, wet morning and hoping we don’t have any more severe weather.
We spent the entire day yesterday removing half of a beautiful old tree that came down the previous night and wrangling a huge sycamore branch that had twisted off and caught high in the tree over the house. The damage to the house is minimal (lost a gutter and had some torn and dented metal roofing) but since we may have more storms today we really worked hard to get that limb down so it didn’t pull more tree down. It looks like (and certainly sounded like) we had a little funnel cloud that didn’t actually touch down and twisted the tops out of several trees. A neighbor downstream says they had similar damage and also heard it.
The river is still up about 2 feet so we aren’t going anyplace but it was up about 6 feet higher yesterday morning so we will have lots of cleanup work there too.
Hope all the other NSTers are safe and sound after the exciting weather Saturday.
That’s the reason to buy full bottles-you use up the sample and the you use up the decant and you still want more…
Stay safe and dry!
Wow, that sounds scarey. Glad you’re safe, and hopefully can relax a bit today. You deserve that FB.
Be careful my dear and keep your eyes on the sky!
Oh, how I wish I could get a 50ml bottle of MT! You smell great!
I used to live in Tornado Alley and it is just so frightening and at the same time awe inspiring to watch weather get all worked up! Stay safe!
CdG Kyoto. Like, not love. Too darn cold for my taste.
I was dreaming of Pamplelune while I was on my humid run this morning, so Pamplelune it is!
Yummy!
Today I’m wearing my twirly summer dress with a high contrast poppy print and a liberal dousing of L’air de Rien. We were with family yesterday so I just did a smidge of (50 shades of) Gris Clair. A dear relative is aroma sensitive so I try to be careful around her. Later in the day I was catching the gorgeous end stage musk from the Gris Clair and finally broke down and got a fb on line at a terrific discount. I’ve been holding off buying more perfume because I already have so much and I’m worried it will turn before I can use it. I’m starting to think about creating a perfume storage area in the cellar because the humidity in the summer can be a problem for perfume. I will keep small decants of the ones in rotation upstairs and store the fbs in the cellar. Does anyone else have a nice cellar storage place for their little treasures?
Sounds like you’re a knockout today and now I want a twirly dress…and a cellar to store my scents.
Thanks MM. It’s really fun to try and match clothing to perfume. And I really beg pardon for assuming everyone has a cellar.
I don’t have a cellar, living in New Mexico. But a couple of years ago in Taos I came across someone closing out a shop of antiques from India. I snagged a teak armoire about 100 years old for $600. It has some repairs, but I love it. Inside the doors are a shelf at the top, then 9 small drawers (3 across), then 8 medium drawers (2 across). The base, which separates for moving, has 1 large drawer.
The small/med drawers hold accessories and business papers. In summer I put the perfume, in woven rectangular baskets, at the bottom near the cool tile floor, and sweaters on the top shelf. In winter I reverse them for a better view of my collection. (Perfume is even more important than sweaters, which I love.)
I imagine this having been built for some British officer’s wife while they were stationed in India, and it has brought me much enjoyment. Hope that doesn’t sound shallow or materialistic. Whatever you dream up, I hope it brings you as much pleasure.
What a lovely description of your Indian armoire. And a perfect storage place for perfume. Thanks so much for sharing that!
I’m wearing a combo of JM Red Roses and Blackberry & Bay, as suggested by someone last week (sorry, can’t remember who!) I wore that yesterday as well and quite liked it, but I thought the rose was overpowering the other one, so today I put one part of roses for two parts of blackberry and it is much more balanced! I guess I’ll have to buy some version of both now… 😉 I wouldn’t mind having the Red Roses bath oil and the B&B body cream…
Forgot to add: yesterday the combo reminded me of La Fille de Berlin, but now I get more of the bay leaf and it creates a different vibe.
Ooooh, I have to try this but probably not when it is super hot which it will be over the next few days.
Tired today, so no trying anything new and just enjoying a favorite, Cuir de Lancome.
That’s a great one for a low-energy day. You smell lovely.
Happy Memorial Day!
No fragrance just yet but thinking of wearing Caudalie’s Divin perfume, my latest new love. It’s a rose scent but not a strong rose… plus vanilla and other dreamy notes.
Anyone else like this one?
I like the smell of the Huile Divine, but I haven’t tried the Parfum yet. I heard it is much sweeter. Do you find that to be the case?
I’m not familiar with the oil. I’ll try it next time I’m in Sephora to compare.
Happy Memorial Day, everyone! Gosh, it felt great not having to get up early this morning to go to work. But, not to get off track as to why today is a holiday….I want to thank all of the men and women in the armed services and our vets for everything that have done for us. You are greatly appreciated!
My SOTD is going to be Orange Sanguine from Atelier. I haven’t applied it yet because I just got out of the shower. Its a nice Spring / Summer scent that isn’t too overpowering. Perfect scent for being outside with friends for a barbeque. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
Scent of the morning was Eau de Merveilles. It was pleasant and easy for wearing out to breakfast and seemed like a great way to kick off summer. –And I was Jo Maloned-out after last week.
I’m getting ready to shower though, and don’t know what I’ll put on afterward. It’s warm, muggy, gray, and raining pretty consistently here. No thunderstorms yet though. Does anyone have suggestions? Or should I just go commando until I get to the mall this afternoon?
Happy Memorial Day!
Could try Jour d’Hermes (if you have any) to counteract the greyness. I’m thinking about that one … if it warms up as much as it’s supposed to today.
SOTD is Tauer Sotto la Luna Gardenia. Lord, this scent makes me happy! Serious FB consideration. Hope everyone’s enjoying their holiday. I also have off tomorrow since it’s my b-day and my employer gives us our b-day off! Good folks.
Happy birthday, one day ahead!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday! hope you have a fabulously fragrant day 🙂
Thanks! So far so fragrant 🙂
Today is now a Memoir day since Velvet Gardenia was a no go.
I am freezing today for some reason. I had a look though the perfume cabinet and ended up in Parfumerie Generale L’Ombre Fauve. It’s doing a nice job of providing olfactory warmth while I unearth the sweaters from the off-season closet. I was sure I wouldn’t need them for Memorial Day weekend…
Ostara again!
I first tried it because of Robin’s review (just to double-check since Robin said “gorgeous”), and have been wearing it ever since. This is particularly impressive as I usually cannot enjoy anything that includes vanilla but somehow it works in this one.
Visited the Garden of Flags on the Common before my stuff arrived. There are about 37,000 flags planted before a memorial, one for each MA soldier lost during a war going back to the Revolution.
That sounds impressive. When I drive into Santa Fe from the north, the National Cemetery is on my left, part of it on a hillside. Beautiful and sad at the same time.
I am wearing Guerlain Plus que jamais. I am not working today but I had to go to a formal event this morning and this was perfect.
SOTD = Bvlgari Black
Just perfect. Lightly applied this morning in case I want to wear something else later.
I am working today- but hope everyone is enjoying their day
Commando today- but I can smell Journey woman on my scarf from 2 days ago
Testing Olfactive Studio Panorama today. I did get the initial blast (not too strong, but definitely there) of wasabi, and now it is becoming nicely green on me. I am really liking it so far.
I started my day with an unamed Creed sample but it wasn’t interesting enough to warrens figuring out the name. The rain stopped and now it is breezy and cool so I opted for Diptyque Geranium Odorata. I have really been enjoying this one; it’s so odd!
Wow, that’s a lot of typos!
Trying a new layering combo this afternoon – Volutes with Parfumerie Generale Cuir d’Iris. It’s interesting, adding smoke to a leathery iris – almost like an incense.
Today has been cloudly and grey, but I’m feeling Spring in my heart thanks to a dab or three of Wit. It’s Spring in a bottle.
I am wearing Chanel Antaeus in memory of a dear friend who wore it back in the day.
Absolutely gorgeous day here. Heading to my sister’s place wearing OJ Frangipani. I wasn’t too sure about this scent but it is growing on me….
Are you back in NY or still in CA?
A perfect spring day here in Washington, DC.
My goodness, it’s been an astonishing weekend here in the northern Virginia suburbs. Rolling Thunder is everywhere, and their presence, comportment, valour and gravity is incredibly moving.
I am so grateful for their compassion and strength.
I lost my dad 11/1/14 and my mom 12/16/14. Arlington National Cemetery has a waiting list, so their ashes were interred simultaneously during their funerals on February 13, 2015. Because they were older, friends and family were few. So I really appreciate the presence of all who came here to acknowledge their love and sacrifice. It has been a difficult and poignant day, but I am very glad for it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Thank You to your parent’s for their service and sacrifice.
Heartfelt thanks . I truly appreciate it.
Hugs to you Holly.
And hugs to you, hajusuuri.
How very difficult for you to lose both parents so close together. I hope there is a measure of comfort and solace that they did not have to be long without each other. Just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you.
Thank you for your kindness, Laila. I truly appreciate it.
Holly, I only saw this now. I’m sending my belated hugs from Brussels.
Thank you! Hugs back to you as well. 🙂
News flash about Colonial Drug:
I will re-post this closer to the top of the thread on a day when I get to site early:
My husband and I were walking in Nonantum (Newton) today and we passed by Colonial drug. The owner (woman) was inside, but the shop was closed because of the holiday. She let us inside anyway and was incredibly gracious, engaging and friendly. It looks like they are really spiffing up the shop and have a lot of new inventory. I noticed that they have the full line of Floris, some good ones from Creed, and seem to be getting in a lot of Italian products (Villorisi shaving and bath things, and the full line from Ortegia). Their perfume shelves look much more updated and organized and she mentioned that they will be offering a full on scent bar for women and men’s fragrances in a month or two. So I just wanted to pass that along for anyone who lives in the Boston area.
Sajini, thanks for posting this! I will have to make a point of stopping by when I’m next in town. A good friend of mine lives in Auburndale, so it’s just around the corner. 🙂
I’m a day late and a roller short! Story of my life it seems :~|
Started today with three hefty squirts of Guerlain Vetiver which has faded so I did a spritz or two of Dark Horse.
Apropos of nothing, I have a tea question: I am looking for bulk organic loose black tea and can’t seem to find much of anything locally. I eventually ordered from La Amazonia, but even there the choice was rather limited. Do any of you tea drinkers have a good source? I am brewing Kombucha and really want to stick with organic loose black tea, if possible. Thanks much for your tea thoughts! 🙂
Um, that would be DOLLAR short! Auto correct must die! 😉
Check out Upton Tea Imports. The selection’s a bit overwhelming, but I really liked the 3-4 small packages of black tea I tried (followed Robin’s recs). They include a catalog with your order, which is actually easier to peruse at leisure, so you can make more informed choices for subsequent online purchases.
2nd!
Thanks for the rec! I will check it out ASAP 🙂
SOTD has been vintage Worth Je Reviens, as it is each Memorial Day. Translated to ‘I will return,’ a favorite from soldiers to their sweethearts as they left for WW II, it just seems appropriate and always reminds me of my dad, who served for 3-1/2 years overseas w/o any leave and my mom left behind. But he was was one of the lucky ones who did return while his brother, my uncle, at age 21 did not.
Today my Little Ones marched in our hometown parade with Grandpa and, now that they’re old enough to understand the true meaning of this day, afterwards I showed them pictures of my dad, their great grandpa, when he was a young soldier and let them touch his medals. He’s been gone many years now, but he was with us today and I know he, too, enjoyed his Little Ones he never got to meet.
What a wonderful story, Laila. Thank you for sharing it. My SOTD was Silences.
