Frederic Malle Cologne Indelebile ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 February 2015 16 Comments

Frédéric Malle Cologne Indélébile

French niche line Frédéric Malle will launch Cologne Indélébile, a new unisex fragrance 'marrying the freshness of cologne with the sensuality of a skin scent'.

Cologne Indélébile was developed by perfumer Dominique Ropion. The notes include bergamot, lemon, narcissus, orange blossom, neroli and musks.

Frédéric Malle Cologne Indélébile will debut in April, in 100 ml.

Orange blossom, neroli and narcissus? Yes, please!

Sounds good enough to test. Not sure why but this line hasn’t done much for me so far, at least the ones I have sniffed. LR is pretty good though..I have a couple more to try..and this one I guess.

Nothing has been must-buy for me either, although I have been enjoying the decant of L’eau d’Hiver I was generously given.

Magnolia didn’t work for me, but this sounds good. Plus, Ropion!

Interesting…and I love the bottle. But if the price is what a normal Malle scent cost, I think I will pass, since it is Cologne. But I will give it a sniff 😉

Is this a stupid question: is it really a cologne concentration? Or is it just a general designation as in Kenzo Le Parfum and Terracotta Le Parfum which are actually EDP’s?

Not a dumb question, but I don’t know the answer.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. Most of the FM’s are pretty intense and have great longevity…..which makes the hefty price tag just a little easier to swallow……okay, I still choke a little…but “easier”….it’s relative. Anyhow….if the prices are in the “normal” range for FM, then that’s an awful lot to pay for a “skin scent”.

However , the notes: they are good.

Am I imagining it, or is FM coming out with more perfumes more quickly now that they belong to Estee Lauder?

Seeing as the company belongs to EL as of 40 days ago, and this is the first scent to be announced since the acquisition, the idea that the pace has picked up would seem to be rather premature to me! I know people are quite paranoid about this sale, but most of it seems to be pure speculation.

I tried this over the easter weekend and enjoyed it though I’m not sure I could ever wear it – if I did I think it would have to be in an ironic way.

It was punchy to start with and felt very old fashioned. Rather like the remake of fougere royale from a few years ago – I admire it, quite enjoy smelling it (at home behind closed doors) but I can’t see myself ever wanting to wear it public or wanting people to smell me wearing it.
