Comme des Garcons Wonderoud ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 May 2014 10 Comments

Comme des Garçons Wonderoud

Comme des Garçons will launch Wonderoud, a new unisex oud fragrance, in June. Wonderoud follows 2010's Wonderwood scent.

WONDEROUD is the ultimate incarnation of WOOD expressed through the most exquisite wood notes. One of nature’s most precious gifts, worth its weight in gold. An aromatic resin, scented with subtle notes, Oud is known as The Black Gold of Perfumers. Used only for the most precious and mythical concoctions, its powerful and rich character brings a woody, animal, balsamic and even honey feel and texture to a fragrance. 100% Natural Oud extracted from resinous Aquilaria trees grown sustainably in South East Asia.

Comme des Garçons Wonderoud will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Update: the notes include Texas cedarwood, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, guaiac wood and pashminol.

Another update: Wonderoud was developed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu.

Do we give them credit for at least promising to use real oud instead of the synthetic that’s seemingly in every other release these days?

But oh god I am so sick of oud. I bought M7 when it was launched 12 years ago and that’s pretty much enough oud for a lifetime.

M7 is probably enough for me too. We’ll see…would like to see the full list of notes.

Ha, well I suppose they could accurately say that of natural oud, which I think hardly exists in perfume these days.

I think if any brand could pull off an interesting and different Oud,it’s probably CdG!Will put on the TO SNIFF list,at least!

Despite all the oud scents around I’m still not certain I have tried anything containing natural oud. Apparently M7 (which is the only ‘oud scent’ I own) does not contain a natural oud accord. Think they will really use the actual thing itself?

And given the way this is being marketed surely it will cannibalize off their Wonderwood sales? (previously the ultimate ‘wood’ scent, lol!)
