The research all started with smelly feet

Posted by Robin on 6 December 2013 4 Comments

The research all started with smelly feet.

A team of researchers from the University of California, Riverside, placed odor-collecting beads in their own socks to pick up a scent and placed them in an experimental wind tunnel with hungry mosquitoes, where the beads acted as a stand-in for a human.

Any effective repellent would be welcome here. I got bitten by mosquitoes the other day while putting up my outdoor Christmas lights. There is just something wrong with that!

You’re kidding, that’s crazy! Sounds like you need some ethyl pyruvate 😉

LOL, when my husband proposed to me, he did it by a river, which was very romantic and even more so because of a couple of deer that decided to show up and lap the water. However, there were HUGE swarms of mosquitoes..they bit us everywhere. Through clothes, jeans..they were hungry. I thought, I am not sure why he’s taking me here and whatever his plans are to do them quickly cause I am getting eaten alive. We had bites all over our face, hands, even on our booties. At least I got a husband out of it though! :D.

Well, we’ve been having high temps at or near 80 this week until the cold front hit yesterday. I know it is miserably cold for much of the U.S., and I don’t wish sleet and ice storms on anyone, but I am actually enjoying the colder temps. We are supposed to be in the 30s and 40s for the next several days, which is how I think it should be this time of year.
