Aroma M Beauty Camellia Body/Bath Oil ~ scented body product review

Posted by Jessica on 30 August 2013 13 Comments

Italian jasmine

Last autumn I wrote a review of two new beauty products from Aroma M, Camellia Hair Oil and Camellia Face Oil, which smelled as beautiful as they felt. Aroma M has just added another item to its beauty line, a Camellia Body/Bath Oil; now, in an ideal world, you could anoint and scent yourself from head to toe with these elixirs.

The Camellia Body/Bath Oil, like its two sister products, is crafted from thoughtfully selected, all-natural ingredients. Its base is a blend of camellia seed oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E; its scent is a bouquet of essential oils of jasmine, neroli, geranium, Moroccan rose and frankincense. The scent of these combined oils (which are all beneficial to the skin) is similar to that of the Camellia Face Oil, with the addition of a bewitching rose note. (Maria McElroy, the perfumer behind Aroma M, has written about her "fragrance adventures" in Morocco on her blog; it's possible that she discovered several of these essences on her travels.)

Although I'm not usually a fan of straight-up jasmine, I do like the jasmine in Aroma M's skincare products: it's sultry, but not raw. The rose is velvety and true. The geranium and the neroli lend a brighter aspect to the blend, and the aromatic frankincense is like a tarnished antique gilt frame around a floral still-life painting. In addition to using my sample sparingly on my arms and legs after bathing, I've also been dabbing a drop onto each wrist at bedtime, so that I can drift off to sleep while inhaling this fragrance.

My only wish now is that Aroma M might release a concentrated perfume oil with this fragrance, but perhaps I'm just being greedy at this point. In the meantime, I'll luxuriate in my Camellia Body/Bath oil sample.

Aroma M Beauty Camellia Body/Bath Oil ($60 for 100 ml) is available through the Aroma M website. For further purchasing information, see the listing for Aroma M under Perfume Houses.

You know J- I have never tried any products from Aroma M and I really should. These oils sound lovely. I love using camellia oil on my face, though for a while I switched to hazelnut oil which I also loved. I’ve been lazy lately and skipping the oil but I should resume!

I never used facial oils until about two or three years ago, but once I did, there was no going back! I guess body oils are good “starter” oil products… then hair… then face. At least, that was my progression. 🙂

I love oils. Face, hair, body, love them all. I haven’t tried these but I’m putting them on my list so when I run out of what I’ve got perhaps I’ll give them a try.

I really loved my face and hair samples when I tried them last fall, so once I’d used up the serum I already had, I bought a full bottle of the Aroma M face oil. I love it!

An effective treatment that doubles as a bedtime perfumetime perfume – this sounds delightful!

That’s what happens when an independent perfumer turns her attention to skincare… it smells wonderful!

I so want a sample of this! LuckyScent doesn’t have it yet, nor are samples for it listed on the Aroma M website. Do you think it’s worth taking the risk unsniffed? Lemmings must be obeyed…

Hm… well, we always say that you should never buy unsniffed! 😉
If you’ve tried the Camellia Face Oil and liked the scent, and you like body/bath oils, you’ll like this. Otherwise, I’m hoping that Aroma M or Luckyscent will offer samples soon. I got a little bit ahead of the full release with this review!

I use unrefined coconut all the time for body, face and hair so I am intrigued by this.

I keep meaning to pick up a container of coconut oil at the store! Do you have a favorite brand?

Oooh, this sounds lovely, especially as dry, cold, winter looms on the horizon…

Maggie, I agree — oils work so well at fighting dry, flaky skin everywhere!
