Danny Seo Reserve Global ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 22 August 2013 9 Comments

Danny Seo Reserve Global

“Environmental lifestyle expert” Danny Seo has introduced Reserve Global, the debut scent from his new brand Danny Seo Reserve. Seo's former brand, Wholearth, has been discontinued.

Our signature launch scent celebrates what’s curious, exotic and beautiful about the world around us. Developed in partnership with Firmenich, the Reserve Global scent incorporates Nobel Prize award-winning chemistry along with proprietary NaturePrint technology that captures hero notes like Rose de Mai and Tahitian Tiare flowers in their natural habitat at their absolute peak of living perfection. Earthy vetiver oil grown in Haiti—a program recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative for helping to rebuild Haiti—adds a luxurious complexity to the finished scent.

Additional notes for the floral fragrance include raspberry, mandarin, pink pepper, peony, violet, musk and cedar.

Danny Seo Reserve Global is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, $65, and can be purchased from HSN or Tru Fragrance.

    Nobel Prize award-winning chemistry? huh.

Their first research director won a Nobel. Probably still a bit of a stretch as used here, but hey.

The claim that to have captured tiare I think is new. I thought that was one of the flowers whose scent could not be extracted.

It can’t be extracted, but you can use scent capture technology.

i thought it couldn’t be extracted either, but i recently found and bought tiare absolute (from what i think is a reputable source). it smells very much like a grassy, light green gardenia, and to my nose not synthetic. i’ve also heard ormond jayne uses it in one of their scents (not sure if it’s their tiare scent or not). the plot thickens!

Tiare sometimes refers to gardenia macerated in coconut oil (tiare monoi). Also, I do know that there is some very expensive process of extracting gardenia so I misspoke — pretty sure Enfleurage carries it. But it’s too expensive to use in “regular” perfumery is what I’ve always been told.

The tiare absolute I have is not a monoi. It’s from Aftelier, in case anyone is interested or knows more about it. She also carries a honeysuckle absolute that i love but have never seen anywhere else.

Oh yes, the enfleurages from a farm in Columbia sold at Enfleurage…they are so-so. I was expecting great things. I ordered the the gardenia, tuberose, and hyacinth. Just 2 ml of each since they’re so pricey. And to be honest, they all smell very much like guavas to me!! I called the store and they didn’t really have an explanation except to say that other people have commented that they’re all similar and all fruity smelling. Very strange.

Oh, too bad, to spend so much and get guava. I was very surprised when I first started smelling natural absolutes how many of them smell little like the material OR the finished perfumes. I will never be a perfumer :-)

also, my first thought upon getting it was, if they can now extract an absolute from tiare, why not a traditional gardenia as well?
