Anna Sui La Vie de Boheme ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 May 2013 18 Comments

Anna Sui La Vie De Bohème

Anna Sui has launched La Vie De Bohème, a new perfume for women. It is the brand's first fragrance under new licensing arrangements with InterParfums.

Born of a heart that embraces life to the fullest, the woman who seeks La Vie De Bohème is a poet. She lives half in the past with a nostalgic love for vintage, while firmly in the present with her own definition of style. She prefers authenticity and individuality to society’s norms. She won’t be tamed by convention, or controlled by the world. Self-expression and freedom are important to her, in a live-for-the-moment way. She’s playful and free-spirited, creating her own world one day at a time.

La Vie De Bohème was developed by perfumer Philippe Romano; notes include rose, pear, red berries, dragon fruit, magnolia, peony, freesia, white wood, skin musk, raspberries, vanilla and sandalwood accord.

Anna Sui La Vie De Bohème is available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products.

Yep, did you know that wild berries were used, that’s untamed for sure, wild. Bottle is alright..juice, sounds too crazy for me.

Top marks for an innovative bottle. I doubt I’d like the juice but the bottle is beautiful and one of the most original in a long time!

I agree about the bottle. I really liked her first fragrance and I always hope her scents and designs do well as she is originally from my locale.

It certainly doesn’t seem to be a copy of anything, but it does slightly remind me of some bottle I can’t place….? anyone?

It reminds me a little of L’air du Temps, with a butterfly ‘alighting’ on the lid rather than the birds (swallows?)
In comparison though it obviously come off as simplified and gaudy –

Reminds me a bit of the Ombre Rose bottle as channeled by Vivienne Westwood.

A fruity floral! Too wild for me. I’m a married woman, after all…

This is a fragrance for a little girl whose mother got tired of locking away her fairy flacon of Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie.

Tried to imagine the actual scent and got somethng Britney S(Pear)sish. May not be like this at all, but sure sounds like something I would not even want to try.

Only slightly reminiscent of the Lalique “Deux Fleurs” bottle, the butterfly lid appears to be a recurring theme in what I’m guessing are mostly Czechoslovakian bottles on eBay. Original or not, it’s still beautiful and I might just have to have it!

Excuse me, what do you mean exactly by “Czechoslovakian”?

FYI The Czech Republic and Slovakia split over 20 years ago, and even before valuable crystal bottles were Czech made.

I know Americans have called us all kinds of things including, more recently, Chechens like the Boston bomber, but this is really a bit much.

Hey, some of us oldsters have trouble changing…I still think of it as Czechoslovakia in my mind sometimes, can’t help it, and that is true even though I have traveled all through the Czech Republic since the split.

Well if you return to the Czech Republic make sure you don’t actually say Czechoslovakia out loud …

From a fragrance perspective there’s not much to see though. Some local lines springin up, such as the Royal Castle Perfumery. Will report once I’ve given them a good sniff.

I had wondered if that word would upset someone. I am aware of the new names for the split parts of the country but the term for the type of glass in really old vintage bottles and other types of glassware is still “Czechoslovakian” crystal. BTW: I’m Hungarian.

That word, applied to the present, would annoy every living Czech and possiby some Slovaks as well. However if you add “vintage” before it you should be OK. No one wants to deny or rewrite history. You may even get some nostalgic looks and sighs from the senior generation.

    Hi,
Newbie here. I have a lot to learn about perfumes. What a beautiful bottle. I love the butterfly. My mission is to learn about all the different notes. I can’t seem to find my signature fragrance. In the last couple of years I have bought perfumes that I get bored with. I want something that when a man passes by me, he will turn around and be knocked on his feet…lol… In the last month, i have been going to Nordstrom. The sales lady suggested Flowerbomb. I tried it and brought it back because it made me sick to my stomach. Last month I bouth Hanae Mori with body cream and although it is a beautiful fragrance you have to be very close to me to even smell. I also bought the small Bvlgari Noi. Still debating… I have always been a Chanel lover, but got really tired of Coco Mademoiselle. I can’t go beyond $120.00. I have tried several samples from Nordstrom and just brought them to work and gave them out. I like to smell different than other women. Tired of all women around me wearing the same. Plus I am trying to attract a man…lol… I have been using Vanille Gourmande Eau Gourmande and my nephew loves it because I smell like a cake…lol… I do like the following notes: Bergamot, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Gardenia. I want something elegant and seductive perfume for women that will help make me irresistible. I think i am asking for too much…lol… Just tired of looking… Please help! You guys are so awesome:):) Leony;)
