Love, Chloe Eau Intense ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 24 June 2011 18 Comments

Love, Chloe Eau Intense

Chloé will launch Love, Chloé Eau Intense, a new stronger variation on last year's Love, Chloé fragrance for women:

It all began with a powdery floral aura composed by the perfumers Louise Turner and Nathalie Cetto-Gracia (Givaudan). An immediately identifiable impression. A subtle blend of iris, heliotropine, fresh flowers and musks reminiscent of the scent of iconic cosmetics, talcs and face powders.

Just as one dares to wear gold and sequins, Love, Chloé has been enriched with an oriental facet. An essential accord in perfumery that fuses with the original delicate powdery notes. “The idea was to enrich the heart of the first formula without distorting it,” explains Louise Turner. “So I drew from the oriental register, adding voluptuous balms for a more sophisticated effect on the skin.” Love, Chloé Eau Intense blends dense and downy powder with peru balsam, a slightly sweet, animal and resinous scent, along with vanilla absolute, chosen for its roundness and leathery effects.

Love, Chloé Eau Intense will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Hmm — sounds interesting. I wonder if bolder fragrances are going to come back now that everyone’s had their fill of light powders?

God, I hope so. I have skin that renders fragrance inert inside of two hours or less, even ANGEL. While lighter scents are great for the office, when I’m on my own time I want that cloud of fragrance surrounding me.

Well, we’d better wait & see if it’s really what we’d call “bold” — you could be quite deeper than Balenciaga Paris and still not be “bold”, right?

Good point. Bold is relative. There’s 80’s bold, and then the rest…

I will try this. I wanted to love Love, Chloe but it always took a slightly sour turn, for me. I never saw anyone else remark on this, so there must have been something weird about the way my scent-brain perceived the fragrance. Here’s hoping.

You are not alone. I really like Love Chloe at first, but turns unpleasant and a bit sour on me after a while. And then it becomes irritating and I want to scrub it off. I tried L Chloe a few times, but it is always the same.

Huh, I’d give that a try. I’ve been meaning to sniff the original Love, Chloe — it’s not my usual kind of fragrance, but it sounds like it’s really well done. This new one seems more aligned with my general preferences. (And yay for 30ml bottles, in the event that I do need to have it … )

Does Intense refer to the strength of the perfume or just the change of notes? The original is fairly intense-a small spray lasts on my skin all day and into the evening, the only perfume I own that lasts that long.

It usually means a deeper, stronger perfume, but also with slightly different notes. Given the description above, I’d expect a darker base.

If they want bold, they could re-release the original 80’s version?? I’m just sayin’….. 🙂

How orange does the juice look… Looks like it could stain if sprayed onto clothes :S

I have always liked Love Chloe, there were a lot of things I loved about it, almost perfectly me but there was always something missing from it to me and something I disliked a bit, this is why I have been hesitant about pulling the gun on it. Today I have smelled the Intense version and though almost the same that little something I disliked is not there and the notes I love are there but even more intense. It is sort of bold to me and I love bold fragrances. The Intense is what I have always wanted Love Chloe to be. I also think that Love Chloe did not really fit what I wanted, I really wanted something for special occasions, evening, warm and sensual and find the intense version exactly that. Next weekend there will be a 20% off and definitely getting this.

Well, as I have said in the Love, Chloe thread I have finally decided to get the original and am more enamored with it than anything else. What I find really odd is that I smell cinnamon very strongly in Love, Chloe and that is one thing I truly love about it along with the bit unusual or vintage florals and many other notes. I could not figure out for the life of me why I smell cinnamon in Love when it is not included in the notes, well, I have found out that it is the Peru Balsam, I was beginning to think I was going nuts here. Now the Intense should smell like that even more, that is what gives Love that different and oriental facet but it does not. The Intense somehow just lacks the complexity or the original, it is less faceted and less interesting, definitely less cinnamic. It may be a bit deeper but only a tad so. For people that disllike something about the complexity of the original and want a pure oriental which is still really nice, the Intense may be an option, however, as much as I like it I much prefer the original.
