Sonoma Scent Studio To Dream ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 6 April 2011 28 Comments

Sonoma Scent Studio To Dream fragrance

Indie line Sonoma Scent Studio has launched To Dream, a new fragrance for women. To Dream was "inspired by the floral heart of Lieu de Reves but with a more complex woodsy base".

A comforting, dreamy but sophisticated and complex blend of woods, florals, incense, and gourmand notes. To Dream features soft violet and rose with a base of heliotrope, tonka, amber, vanilla, frankincense, oakwood absolute, orris, cedar, sandalwood, and hints of cocoa, suede and moss.

Additional notes include vetiver, musk and aldehydes.

Sonoma Scent Studio To Dream is available in 5 ml purse spray ($20), 17 ml spray or splash ($42 or $41 respectively), 34 ml spray ($80, as shown above); all are in Extrait de Parfum concentration. (via sonomascentstudio)

Sounds lovely but still waiting impatiently for the re-formualization of Opal. :(

To Dream is so beautiful! I got to test one of the mods for this one. It smells like the original Lieu de Reves, but it also has this elegant depth that reminds me a little bit of a dash of No 22. It’s really nice.

I’m excited about trying this one! But how aldehydic does it seem, Ann?

I’ll answer for Ann, H. in case Ann doesn’t get back. I also tested To Dream, and it’s not aldehydic at all. Hope that helps.

Yes, aldehydes are only structural. Did you smell the original Lieu? I suppose I only mean about the No 22 connection, for me at least, is not the aldehydes, but that rich incensy-woods base in 22. Imagine you were wearing Lieu and someone wearing No 22 walked by…. At least that’s my take on it. It is very elegant, pretty and subdued – more polished than the youthful Lieu de Reves.

This is a lovely scent, sort of the more worldly, older sibling of Lieu de Reves.

Violet and heliotrope are code for “not for me!” in general, but Laurie’s scents just *speak* to me so beautifully. The original LdR didn’t quite work, so I’m hopeful that this one will. Can’t wait to try it!!! :)

Dee – the violet and heliotrope are very subtle in this. It’s a very well blended, soft floral. Give it a try.

Dee, I’m shy about heliotrope, too, though I love violet. I find that I can take it as long as it’s not the star ingredient. We’ll see!

When I was testing this for Laurie, my husband said, “Whatever that is you’re wearing, buy a gallon of it”! Sold!

      Wow, high praise indeed!

This sounds like it could be right up my street, definitely adding it to my To Try list.

Not at all – It’s very discreet, with a very nice sillage.

I have an SSS sampler set winging its way to the UK. Laurie said she’d popped some extras in the package so I’m wondering if this is in there too. Really can’t wait now!

I’ve got to sample this again. I received a sample of it when it was in production but, to be honest, I preferred the original Lieu de Reves. Then again, I prefer LdR to the current version of No. 22. It reminds me of pre-reformulation No. 22, which was one of my favorites.

I think SSS is going to get my next purchase for sure! This sounds faboo.
