L’Occitane Plum Blossom ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 February 2011 31 Comments

L'Occitane Plum Blossom

L'Occitane has launched Plum Blossom / Fleurs de Brignoles, a new limited edition perfume for women:

The Plum Blossom Eau de Toilette is a vibrant, floral fragrance that combines the delicate powdery scent of white blossoms with the fruity sweetness of plum fruits.

In the Provencal village of Brignoles, the plum blossom season is always a time for celebration. In tribute to the plum trees of Brignoles, L'OCCITANE combines the delicate powdery scent of the white blossoms with the fruity sweetness of plum fruits, in a luminous floral and rich fragrance.

Additional notes include blueberry, pear, sandalwood and musk.

L'Occitane Plum Blossom is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette or 10 ml Intense Eau de Toilette roll-on; matching bath & body products are also sold. (via usa.loccitane)

Oh, I’ve been waiting for this one to be released, along with the Rose Jardin Delice. Neither one’s on their US site yet (at least as of this past weekend when I was mulling over a promo email), but I hope they arrive there soon since I don’t have a L’Occitane boutique even remotely close. But plum is a note I really like and I’m glad to see it is pretty popular in perfume lately.

It’s on the US site now, that’s where I got the info.

Thanks Robin. If only it’d been there last weekend when they were having a good deal on their liquid soaps with a minimum purchase… 🙁 Ah well. Next time.

Didn’t Kenzo do a similar powdery plum thing? It sounds vaguely familiar. In any case, like Absolute Scentualist I also like plum, so if I see this I’ll give it a whirl.

Juggling elephants sounds like a great analogy for a difficult task, though. Might make a good flanker name!

how about squeezing an elephant through a needle?

I read your first post as “Juggle Elephants!”

But no, I’m thinking of a light Eau de something they did that I would swear was based on plum. Of course, that could be my imagination.

Hi Julia – Jungle L’Elephant is a rich, sweet, dessert patchouli fragrance. But I think you are right that they did something like this. Kenzo’s been into powdery fragrances for a long while, and it seems like powder is all the rage since Balenciaga and Love, Chloe were released last year.

I just purchased a very cute bottle of it and I find it has that kind of ‘stewed fruit’ plum along with the patchouli. Sort of FdB light on me. I kind of like it but I don’t love it. I guess when I want that I prefer the original. You’re right – it isn’t powdery at all upon re-sniffing.

Yes, Fleurs de Prunier (spelling?), it was one of their limited editions I believe — and so is this one.

I really like some of L’Occitane’s fragrances and I adore their “Vintage Chemist” vibe – the bottles look so pretty on my dresser. I like plum but most of my experience is the dark, stewed fruit variety found in Feminite du Bois so I’m looking forward to trying this.

I’ll try it too, although if it’s sweet powdery fruit, I probably won’t like it.

*sigh* anything I get my hands on that is an LE, I am destined to love and be broken hearted when I can no longer find.

I love plums, and want to smell this.

JoElla, I hear you. I almost don’t want to try some of the flankers and LE items as I have a total knack for falling in love with them, too. 🙂

If anyone’s tried this and/or the Kenzo interpretation on plum, I’d love to know what you thought. 🙂

It’s sweet and schreechy and chemical. It was launched yesterday here in Prague, with a tester available since mid-January.

The Cherry Blossom fragrance, in a similar bottle, is far superior IMO.

Will report on Rose Delice as soon as I sample it.

Thanks for the mini review. Screechy powder is the worst, and cheaply done powdery florals give the well done powdery florals a bad rap!

sounds nice, though the name threw me, as Brignoles does not mean plum.

I received a sample at the store a few weeks ago. I just put some on. Right off , it’s sweet, with some plum and some generic perfume smell. I might be getting a TINY amount of the orange peel oil that’s in the ingredients, or I could just be imagining that I smell it. I could really do without that generic perfume smell. We’ll see what happens.

It’s been over an hour and it smells about the same, just not as strong. It doesn’t do anything for me, but I am no expert and we are all individuals. On my other arm, I am trying Flower by Kenzo. I enjoyed the violet. The violet is now transitioning rather smoothly into what I think is the opopanax/ sweet myrrh. I don’t know if the sweet myrrh is something I want to wear, though; we’ll see …

Thanks for the mini reviews kindcrow. They make me think I might skip this. I’d like to like L’O fragrances but most of them have seemed thin and short lived on me. But I’m sure they suit many other people.

It took about three hours for the generic perfume smell to burn off, but by that time, the plum scent was very, very faint …

although i like plum, id prefer tart. The only l’occitanes I have liked are the honey and the vert and jasmine…i have found the fruity florals to sweet and “chemical”
