Sue Devitt Golden Temple Effusion ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 August 2010 9 Comments

Sue Devitt Golden Temple Effusion

Color cosmetics and skincare brand Sue Devitt has launched Golden Temple Effusion, a new limited edition fragrance for women:

Inspired by the early-morning mist rising from Thailand’s bamboo forests—a deeply soulful experience that leaves the skin exotically scented—is the revitalizing LIMITED EDITION Golden Temple Effusion Eau de Toilette. It’s delicate, oxygenating essence comes from Thai healing botanicals—Deep Rainforest Woods, Wild Lily, and Exotic Red Berries.

Apply on the pulse points to encourage the flow of chi, or life force, a method Sue developed with an Asian healing ritualist, for an absolute feeling of balance and well-being.

Sue Devitt Golden Temple Effusion is $65 for 50 ml Eau de Toilette, and can be found now at the Sue Devitt website. (via shop.suedevittbeauty)

This actually sounds interesting, or at least it did after I finished mentally snarking about the copy!

The chi part cracked me up, but I do love that bottle.

I’ll admit many copy ads sound silly. But this one seems downright pretentious. Sue invented the process of applying perfume to your pulse points? Really? No one could figure it out before her? We were just applying it to our eyeballs and foreheads in confusion? I do like the inspiration though.

Yeah, I was going to make a snide remark about the pulse points thing, but thought I might get myself in trouble. 🙂

It’s pretty darned silly. Still want to try this though! Wish they’d publicized more of the notes.

Is this going to be the new trend that is going to sprout in the wake of Eat, Pray, Love? I think Sue Devitt’s a fine business woman, but this is just hokey. The use of “chi” in ad copy really pushed me over the edge into ignore territory.

I like the makeup — used to buy the eyeshadows. Don’t know much else about her.

The ad copy is awful but the frag sounds nice enough.

I didn’t read ‘eat, Pray, Love’ but wasn’t moved by the concept. I believe Perlier even launched an EPL bath and body line with each fragrance based on a word in the title (Eat smells like gellato, Pray like Indian jasmine etc.), and I’m already tired of the whole book/movie/concept already. *shrug*

I am a regular user of Sue Devitt products, and they are all amazing. I think I’ll definitely try this.
