Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris Pour Homme ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 July 2010 22 Comments

Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris Pour Homme

Van Cleef & Arpels will launch Midnight in Paris Pour Homme in August. The new fragrance for men is named for the brand's Midnight in Paris watch.

Midnight in Paris is a floral leather developed by perfumers Olivier Polge and Domitille Bertier. The notes include black lily of the valley accord, citron, bergamot, matcha green tea, styrax, benzoin, tonka bean and incense.

Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris Pour Homme will be available in 45, 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmeticnews, us.fashionmag)

Update: A better (actually, it looks entirely different?) shot of the bottle, via Belle Mania ~

Mmmm. This sounds great, and the name makes me curious to check out the watch that inspired it. I really hope the prices aren’t as ambitious as the Collection extrordinare.

The 45-mL bottle is apparently 40 euros, about $50-55, so not that bad.

I like the sound of this, the idea of a men’s dark floral paired with leather and benzoin, but the name makes me think of the iconic Evening in Paris.

Floral leather is good, but *what* were they thinking with that bottle? It looks like a black peach… or a butt. Hope it’s just a bad picture…

There was a picture on basenotes that showed how beautiful is the bottle. It looks like a male bottle counterpart to eau des merveilles constellation. The link also says that it’ll be produced in eau de parfum strenght too. I

Would love to know your opinion about it..

At the riskof sounding clueless.. whats to stop a lady from wearing a scent like this (considering its classified as “Masculine”)

Social norms. Good thing none of us care about those! 🙂 I plan to try it, myself.

Looks like a great collection of notes. Dark florals are right up my strasse. I love Ungaro III, Salvador Dali pour Homme, Rose 31 etc. Sounds really good, must sample ASAP.

    The bottle looks like
    a) Basement Cat’s idea of a Christmas tree ornament.
    b) a cartoon bomb – all it needs is a wick coming out of the top, with Wiley E. Coyote standing in the background with his fingers in his ears. Ka-BOOM.
    That said, it sounds great!

Black LOTV *accord* means their *impression* of what such a thing might smell like if it existed – right? Love the (other) notes and can’t wait to try it! Might even commission my mother to investigate her local parfumerie…

A great perfume by van Cleeff ! The eau de parfum is so warm and sensual the sweetness of tonkabean is not dominant but gives a almost amber/perubalsam accord in the hart..Insence is making it woody and mysterious…the styrax is making it masculine and metropolitan.
the eau de toilette is more casual and fresh…good to use together !
