Because people like to smell nice

Posted by Robin on 1 April 2010 54 Comments

We're very pleased to announce that Coldplay have today launched their own exclusive fragrance, Angst by Coldplay.

"This is something we've wanted to do for a long time," said the band's frontman, Chris Martin. "People like to smell nice and we thought we could help them out."

[...] The core ingredients of the scent are listed on the Brian Eno-designed bottles as sangre, sudor and lágrimas, all of which have been sourced from Fairtrade suppliers.

As soon as I saw this I figured it was an April Fool’s joke! But then of course even a rock bank could “jump on the bandwagon”!

Right there with ya, Boo! Although I was preparing to mock the fragrance even without knowing what the notes were! :)

          me too!!

We can always blame it on the eau-faux-inspired real perfume ads we read so often!

Ahahaha. I don’t believe it, this is the 2nd April Fools Day in a row involving a Coldplay punk. (Last year it was my Dad who claimed in an email to have met the band after an Andrea Boccelli concert in Dubai and gotten free tickets to a concert… my sisters and I were planning to mock him mercilessly for meeting such a lame band when he did the big April Fools reveal… we felt like idiots.)

Lol. I needed a laugh today. My pre-coffee brain glimpsed this and ‘say it isn’t so’ ran through my head. *heaves a sigh of relief* Though if it were true, I imagine they’d have an awesome Prix Eau Faux style of ad copy to promote it.

If I had read this yesterday, I might have fallen for it, but the note called “lagrimas” (tears) together with the fragrance named Angst struck me as too funny to be a real thing. HA! Maybe the copy should have said it was designed by Brian EMO!
