Smashbox Heartbreaker, Avon Be Kissable ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 7 January 2010 26 Comments

Smashbox Heartbreaker fragrance

Cosmetics line Smashbox has launched their debut fragrance, Heartbreaker:

Every heartbreaker has a signature fragrance. Melt his heart with this alluring blend of sensuous forget-me-not florals and spices. Seductive notes of Blue Violet, Gardenia, Precious Musk and Vanilla will leave him wanting more. To create a lasting scent-sation, roll a hint on wrists, behind ears, and anywhere else you want a sweet scent.

Additional notes include dianthanus, rose, sand jasmin, nutmeg, mace, clove and marzipan.

Smashbox Heartbreaker is available in 10 ml Eau de Parfum roll-on, $22. (quote via smashbox, additional information via sephora, with many thanks to Sarah for the tip!)

Avon Be Kissable fragranceAvon has launched Be Kissable, a new fragrance for women. The tag line: "Make Him Blush".

A beguiling blend of bold citrus and bright blossoms with a wink of creamy musk

Avon Be Kissable is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products. (via avon)

Update: Be Kissable is apparently not a new fragrance, my error!

I really like Smashbox Cosmetics so I would like to give this a try.The price is afforable and a roller ball is nice to put in your purse and travel.Avon fragrances just don’t work for me.And that bottle is a bit too plain for me it doesn’t seem interesting but I could be wrong.

Neither of these have very interesting packaging.

What is the difference between all these musks and jasmines? Precious, creamy, crystal, sambac, sand, cliff, etc. Presumably they are different varieties of jasmine, and the musks have gone through different chemical treatments?

They like to give musks, which are all synthetic these days, nice names. “Precious musk” means nothing, really, except that they’d like you to think they’ve used expensive chemicals.

As for sand jasmine, I’ve never heard of such a thing but have seen it listed in notes before. Probably, again, a synthetic aromachemical to which they’ve given a pretty name.

For all we know, these could be official trade mark names given by the petro-chemical industries for the various mix of “musk” and “jasmine”. Just like paint companies have 200 different versions of “white” under as many different names.

Lame, dude! And Platinum, I can just see different industrial vats lined up and labeled as such.

All I know is, if my musk is winking at me, something’s wrong.

I am not sure from what year but Be Kissable is was available before, it has to have been in the last 5 years I think.

Lol. I love the ‘pink diamond musk’ and ‘precious pink musk’ accords listed as notes nowadays. I just think of fluffy, sparkly little pink animals trying to hide in the undergrowth but being so fabulous and gorgeous they’re captured for their fancy sparkling champagne musk accord. Truly, I’d rather they just say ‘cultured musk’ like they do with pearls, but that likely wouldn’t work as it’s more of a synthesized issue anyway.

But all this soft as a cloud musk is gradually pushing me more toward trying MKK or MR every day…

But I do love Smashbox, especially their primer, and I assume this Heartbreaker isn’t the same as the Jenna Jamison Heartbreaker fragrance?

That totally sounds like a perfectly viable two minute anime fume ad! Kind of along the lines of the ad with this Hello Kitty thingamajig. (Hope the link works!) http://redirectingat.com/?id=500X800&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dx8OA-fBtAAY

A.S., I think if you take your first paragraph and run with it, you’d be the front runner for the Prix Eau Faux.

Sunnyfunny, I couldn’t get the link to work. :( And I *love* Hello Kitty, too.
miss kitty v, thanks. It’s just so hard to keep from lol’ing when I read some of these notes. And sometimes, I don’t even try and just give in to the need to laugh. The Prix Eau Faux is a blast and I always love giving it a go so my inner snark can have at the keys for a bit. All for a good cause, of course; that cause being the mercy I could show to my poor bank account. ;)

Funny, though–now that I’m looking at the box, it could almost pass for her!

I didn’t even know that Jenna Jameson had a fragrance. That’s… interesting?

I actually ordered Jenna’s from Ebay; it’s nice. Warm spicy fruits.

Trust me, that Smashbox fragrance is a big yawn. Although I do love and adore their makeup, I don’t think they could have made that juice more boring if they’d tried. :P

Be kissable is not a new fragrance… I received it as a gift some 4 or so years ago. Actually during the 30 minutes it lasted, it wasn’t bad, it was quite wearable in the hotter spring days. I just wonder why they issue it as new…
