I am free but trains to London are too expensive so close to the date, so will have to pass this time. Count myself lucky to have met one perfumer this month already!

Ack, are they? For some reason I assumed the UK train system was still reasonably priced. Here, the prices are ridiculous — it’s as though they’d prefer everyone to drive.

Train prices (National Rail) can be quite extortionate if you don’t book in advance. But all in all, it is a very good service compared to North America (I’m Canadian). Happily, I live in London, so train fare won’t be an issue. Fingers crossed I get lucky!

Wow, I can’t imagine what train services must be like in North America, then, if you find the service here very good. Fares are outrageously high and inconsistent; trains are not frequent enough, slow and always too full – I wouldn’t call that a very good service.

Train service is terrible here. Really terrible.

Alas I won’t be in London until late November… Mr. K. can I buy you tea then instead???! Oh well, at least Liberty will have the range in stock when I get there, though sad news that Be Never Too Busy is closing down at Christmas (at least my timing for that is good!).

Hope B Never still has something left when you get there!

Oh, tea with a famous person! I am really beginning to hate that kind of thing: it’s so fake. At least this one seems to be free – apart from the cost of afternoon tea at Liberty, which isn’t negligible, I expect.

I was assuming it was entirely free, since no cost was mentioned, but I don’t know for sure. Have to say that these “meet the perfumer” events (tea or no tea) don’t really appeal to me either, but everyone else seems to love them.

The one where I met Bertrand Duchaufour felt fine – just like a book signing or a gallery opening with the author/painter/creator present. I got lucky as hardly anyone else turned up to the launch of Amaranthine on account of the wild weather, which meant I could talk to BD quite a bit without feeling I was hogging him.

That’s really so nice! I think it’s just me, personally: I just have no desire to meet any perfumers. Book signings and gallery openings don’t interest me either. I suppose I prefer to admire from a distance?

Wouldn’t know what to say to a perfumer, famous or not. Maybe, unlike writers, they’re not yet tired of, “Where do you get your ideas?”

FK is particular seems to spend a fair amount of time w/ the press: would be surprised if he hasn’t been asked that several times over!

Truth be told, I would love to meet Mr K because he is such a dishy perfumer! hehe. Likewise Kilian H. On that score, I have no interest in meeting Jean-Claude or Guy or Dominique… 🙂

LOL…that’s another way of looking at it! Although it doesn’t interest me either…I can see good looking men just by going on the internet & save the time & trouble of going out.
