Ormonde Jayne has introduced new travel-sized sprays in all of the brand's fragrances:
Today, responding to deafening demand, each fragrance comes in an elegant box of four 10ml eau de parfum sprays.
These black and gold sprays slip unobtrusively into the tiniest of clutch bags for evening glamour and are perfect for weekends away or in hand luggage for travel abroad. Hand poured in the company’s own studio in London, they perfectly reflect the levels of quality, luxury and service for which Ormonde Jayne is so renowned.
Each coffret of four 10 ml sprays is £54. (via press release)
Well, isn’t that just about the most perfect thing for doing a split? Pre-decanted and everything! Find three friends who want some and off you go. And if each of your buys one set….
I’ve tried only one OJ, Ormonde Woman, which I loved; I don’t know what they were thinking calling it that, though, because it’s at least as much Man as Woman, and why limit your market? I suppose I have to order the sampler set one of these days.
I guess they have to call it Ormonde Woman to distinguish it from Ormonde Man, but I think you’re right…I like the men’s better anyway, so the gender designations are pretty meaningless.
And yes, perfect for splits! I will have my Champaca soon 🙂
I looooooooooooooove OJ Man. 🙂
Ooh, a split is definitely a good idea…. Hmm…
yuze haz becom a purrfum monstur…..iz good. 😉
Nice!
Do you know if they must be of the same scent?
I’d love to compose it with my current OJ faves: Frangipani and Tai’f.
(BTW, I’m still wondering wether to spring for Frangipani pure perfume: my sample from the discovery set is almost empty now! I certainly need to go FB, but: EDP or not EDP? this is the question…)
I don’t know, but guessing they won’t mix.
And have never tried the extrait, so can’t help. I’m so happy with the EdP, I don’t see how they can improve it.
I think someone once said on MUA that they had spoken to Linda in the shop about extrait, and Linda herself said the the extraits weren’t that much stronger than the EDPs (only because the EDPs are quite highly concentrated).
I want this! Also curious about the perfume vs. edp but for the Ta’if. My top 2 OJs are Woman and Ta’if and the Woman is strong enough in edp but the Ta’if edp doesn’t last on me at all. I don’t think they have testers of the perfume so I’d love to know if anything has tried the Ta’if pure perfume.
Anyone…not anything! Clearly caffeine has not kicked in…
You know, Ta’if lasts forever on me, but induces olfactory fatigue very quickly. I’ll think it’s all gone, then hours later I’ll suddenly smell it again.
Interesting. Maybe that’s what’s happening with me, it’s there but I can’t smell it. Is that a common thing for a fragrance to do? I definitely get that when I’ve tested too many frags in one go.
Many people are anosmic to one or more musks…and I find that if there’s a musk I have trouble smelling, it’s almost like it blocks everything else. Ask someone else if they can smell it later, maybe?
Good idea. Will definitely do so.
I have already said this in another post, but it bears repeating. I have both the Extrait and EDP for Ormonde Woman and I do not think the Extrait is any stronger or longer lasting than the EDP. In my opinion, it is not worth the extra money for the Extrait.
Thank you for the tip!
Anyway I think Gilty has a point: OW is already quite strong so maybe the lack of detectable difference in this case might be due to the scent itself…
To tell the truth, I usually prefer to dab my fragrances (instead of spraying) so I hope someone leaps in and tells me how great Frangipani is in extrait!!!
Yes, I’m looking for an excuse to indulge…But my wallet is quite stubborn, lately!
Yes it would be great to know if the “sameness” in the parfum and edp is just for OW or for all the OJs.
It is a cool morning and I am wearing Woman today. What a magical and unusual scent it is. I have been wearing Champaca like mad this summer, thanks to a decant I bought at the Wiki site. But I’ve cruised the OJ site many times, clicking, clicking, checking the current exchange rate…One of these days I’m going to jump.
I own several (Frangipani, Osmanthus, Isfarkand), but am out of two of my favorites (Champaca, Ta’if) — so this is excellent news!
I was wearing Woman yesterday, and I agree – it is a magical scent. Frankly, I love almost all of them, with Woman as the front runner, followed closely by Man, Isfarkand and Ta’if. The only one I haven’t tried is the Zizan. If anybody’s interested in a split of anything other than Woman, count me in.
Oh, I got all excited until I read that more closely — all four sprays of the same perfume? If this was a “pick your four”, I’d have my (poor abused) credit card out already.
I think many of us will end up buying 4 and trading 3 away, or just splitting a box.
Must.not.purchase.unsniffed.
I am squealing over the idea of buying and swapping once I’ve actually sampled the line though.
I will be buying something! Not sure when they go on the OJ website though.
I emailed and they said the set would be on the website around the end of September — though they’re happy to do phone orders now.
Thanks!
They do sell a sample set of all their fragrances. It’s a bit of money (I think the conversation came out to around $56), but it might be better than spending more than that on something you may not like.
The sample set isn’t cheap, but it’s 11 different scents, big generous samples, and the shipping is free anywhere in the world, so that comes out to like $5 each. Totally worth it, I think. I’m probably gonna order it pretty soon. Like this weekend.
After many years of staunchly saying I am not fond of Tolu, I think I might be getting interested in buying some. Will join any split! This is good news from OJ. I wish more lines would follow suit (and OJ, Hermes, By Kilian, etc. would offer any mix-and-match…)
Hermes does have some mixed discovery sets, but you don’t get to pick what’s in them. Wish Diptyque would do mixed sets for their travel sprays too. Frederic Malle used to if you bought directly in Paris, but don’t know if they still do.
Last time we looked at a Discovery Set at Hermes, they told us that they were discontinuing the mixed set and going with a straight four travel sizes in a set – I think that the only way to order the mix is if you can find a boutique that still has one in stock. That’s another one that you have to either really love the scent or find someone to go in on a split with you. I really wish they would just sell the smaller sizes – ugh.
I meant to say straight four travel sizes of the same scent.
Ah, that’s too bad. I wish they’d just sell them too, and wish L’Artisan would go back to selling them 🙁
I know – it wreaked havoc with a split-in-the-making. 🙁
I wish Andy Tauer would do the same…….but it probably isn’t cost effective for him! I can just imagine a darling little coffret of Incense Extreme, Lonestar, L’Air and Reverie………
By Kilian does the “travel” size, which comes in a set of three or four. It’s certainly a lot cheaper than the big bottle–I think they’re around $135 for the set. And even cheaper for the refills.
Yeah, with the by Kilians the travel set is the way to go with splits…and it also works for Hermessences and it’ll be good for splitting the OJs too. Can’t wait!
Plugs ears and runs away screaming.
Psst… so are we looking to split a travel set?
You know Erin – I absolutely loved Tolu after a few attempts at wearing it. It reminded me a little of Dune. The day will come when I too consider buying a bottle. I’ve always thought that the Tolu Bath Oil would be rather incredible…….shame they don’t mini sizes of that!
“Deafening demand”! Maybe they’ll also hear us if we shout for mix-and-match sets?
I doubt it, but you never know!
Posting kinda late on this, but I think it’s worth an email from each of us saying we’d definitely purchase this if they offered a variety pack. Just depends on how they’ve packaged it, but if their all hand-decanted especially for us as their marketing says…
sales@ormondejayne.com
You’d be amazed how receptive companies are to change these days if they hear the same request from multiple customers.
Fingers crossed. A variety pack like this would be so great.
Wow. This a dream come true. If I knew the American equivalent for pounds I wonder if I’d be this estatic?
£54 is about $87.50 at the moment
I still have only ever tried Orris Noir (didn’t work for me but I should resample). However, I love travel sizes beyond belief. Let the split mixing and matching and reselling begin!
You really should consider the sample set — it’s worth it, I think.
My heart just stopped beating. I am SO. EXCITED.
🙂
This is so timely! I am trying to save money, but need to buy tokens of gratitude for two friends who recently did me a favour…….they both love Ta’if and Frangipani, and so do I……..this way, I get to buy them BOTH perfume, but can also keep a couple of sprays for myself. WE CAN ALL WIN!!!!!!!!!!! FOR LESS MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Bless Linda Pilkington.
Yay! You shop for gifts the same way I do 😉
I don’t see thwsw on thw website? Am I missing something?
I’ve been debating between Tolu, Ta’if or Woman for a new fall scent…
See Chasa’s comment above…end of September, or you can do a phone order now.
