Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 14 April 2009 13 Comments

Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur fragranceFrédéric Malle will launch Géranium pour Monsieur in May; it is expected to reach the United States in June. The new fragrance was developed by perfumer Dominique Ropion, who already has three fragrances in the Frédéric Malle line: Carnal Flower, Une Fleur de Cassie and Vétiver Extraordinaire.

Géranium pour Monsieur was inspired by the Frédéric Malle Anterenea soap, and is described as "an aromatic scent with floral accents that will thrill fans of mint". Additional notes include musk, cinnamon, clove and star anise.

Frédéric Malle Géranium pour Monsieur will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in 10 ml travel spray trios. (quote via osmoz, additional information via cosmeticnews)

Is geranium the hot new thing? If so, I’m happy. This sounds good, although I have some issues with clove, so I’ll probably not be buying.

Gosh, is it? I’m probably asleep at the wheel — what else is new with geranium?

Maybe this means less pink pepper and melon….although we have had fun with a long string of melon jokes here at my house.

Doubt melon & pink pepper are over & done with, but looking forward to this…the soap is lovely.

I am very excited about this. I love geranium and I’ve become a HUGE Malle fan. But I am not very excited about the mint (not that I dislike mint in the right place).

I do trust that they have done an outstanding job — just worried that it won’t be up my alley, but it’s actually a blessing if I don’t love something. There are already enough crave-worthy Malles to bust my budget without adding another. It is so nice to be able to have a collection of those travel-sized bottles though — love Malle for that reason alone!

You know, I look forward to anything from FM — they usually do a great job. That said, haven’t really loved anything since Carnal Flower. Would love to have a set of those soaps though, and another set of the vetiver soaps. They make darned nice soap.

I’ll trust you on the soap — the thing is that I don’t really use it, so it’s just a hunk of nice-smelling stuff sitting there, getting dusty. Since Carnal Flower there’s only been French Lover & Dans tes Bras, right (and Outrageous, I guess, yeah)? I ended up REALLY loving DtB and I’m making up for gaps in my Malle education and loving lots of them as well (e.g., my recent rave about Musc Rav, and I also recently got a sample of Cassie that’s striking me as very nice).

Seriously, a bar of the Vetiver soap perfumed my office for months, beautifully, before I could bring myself to use it. It’s great stuff, very highly scented & wonderful consistency. Worth switching back to bar soap for 🙂

I answered their questionnaire a long time ago, and their suggestions didn’t sound anything like what I would like.
When it asks “Where do you live?” are they asking for your actual address? Because I just said United States (I thought they were asking because maybe some of their perfumes aren’t available in some countries)

But without their suggestions I think I need to try: this, Epices Noir, Vetiver Extraordinaire, and I guess I should try Carnal Flower (I might have some of these names wrong, I didn’t feel like looking them up)

You might want to give your full address anyway.. when I did this they sent me a sample of the fragrance they suggested to me at the time… really nice! just steer them towards the ones you want to try 😉 (Epices Noir is good, quite intense)

Yes, send your address, perhaps they’ll send you some minis!
