Lush The Olive Branch, Sakura, The Comforter & Snow Showers ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 15 December 2008 14 Comments

Lush solid perfumes

Lush has added several new fragrances to their range of solid perfumes:

The Olive Branch ~ "Not fruity or flowery or frilly, instead this fragrance subtly calls to the Mediterranean. Olive Branch has a welcoming warmth to it, with organic olive oil and the fresh juice of mandarin oranges. Clean and neutral, for boys or girls, Olive Branch brings calm to a hectic day."

Sakura ~ "Soothe your mind and scent your body with the fragrance of cherry blossom trees in spring. Jasmine and mimosa are a charming combination to take you on an Oriental journey. Rub some on your pulse points and let the sweet smell sweep you away to a far away land."

The Comforter ~ "You no longer need a bath to experience the indulgent scent of The Comforter bubble bar. The cypress and bergamot oils in this solid perfume soothe skin while cassis adds a mysterious and seductive aroma. The Comforter solid perfume is great for a gal on-the-go who needs a scent-sational pick-me-up during the day."

Snow Showers ~ "A seasonal, citrus-infused fragrance that LUSHies look forward to every year in our shower jelly of the same name, this solid perfume is light, refreshing and perfect for just about any place your holiday travels may take you to."

Lush The Olive Branch, Sakura, The Comforter & Snow Showers are $11.95 each for 10 g. (via lushusa)

I haven't tried any of the LUSH stuff yet, Snow Showers sounds tempting, I'll give it a try, BUT I am not sure whether citrus-infused fragrance is a best choice for something called “snow showers”… I would rather imagine it smell of some white-cold flowers like Trish McEvoy's Snowdrop & Crystla Flowers. But I might be wrong too…

Well, when they say citrus-infused, they aren't kidding. It has a citrus drink smell, something like a sweet orange and lemon drink. It's very refreshing for those hot summer days.

I just tried this on Saturday and couldn't even smell the Olive Branch on my skin. I have plenty of e.v.olive oil at home, thank you much. But the SnowShowers shimmered and wasn't at all fruity for me, it's the one I'll be hoping for in my stocking.

Then I'm assuming that “snow showers” is suppost to mean a cooling scent, that's going to refresh You in the summer. I guess it's not suppost to evoke the winter & snow but a perfect scent for a hot day.

I am so overdue for a trip to Lush! I wish they would make perfume of their Flying Fox – strong honey with a slight tang of rubber.
I happened upon a couple bottles of early Lush perfumes (liquid) – Icon and Flower Market – I thought them a little much at the time but with my developing nose comes a better appreciation! I think I have a small bottle of their signature Karma somewhere, too.

I need a trip to Lush too, but there isn't one near me. Want more of the jasmine henna hair stuff, and want to try that Flying Fox, people keep raving about it.

Honeybush, that's too bad! I had trouble w/ the solids they had out as testers last I was there — they mostly seemed to have lost their scent.

IrisNobile, I really don't know what the name means. Usually at Lush, there's some story behind it.

The original name was Champagne Snow Showers, and unless something's changed, it's brought out only for winter. I can't remember exactly what the ad copy said about it over the years, but I seem to remember it having to do with New Year's Eve celebrations (hence the “champagne”). It has a bit of an effervescent quality to it. I like the shower jelly, but I can't say I like the solid very much.

Sakura is a whole different story. It's probably my 2nd favorite scent in Lush's entire product line (the first one being Jungle hair conditioner; I really hope they do a solid perfume of this). I got the solid of this the other day but haven't yet tried it.

IrisNobile and Tim – that's right, it originally was called Champagne Snow Showers and a sparkling white shower jelly. They've had the jelly now for several years as a Christmas exclusive.

It smells mostly of oranges – very juicy, just like a fresh peeled orange – , but has some not really definable spicy undertones. Despite the citrus, I don't think this is a summery scent at all, it's really a Christmas citrus, somehow like Theorema without the sophistication, and it has that exhilarating feeling of skiing trough fresh light powder snow (which sometimes is called “champagne powder”, hence probably the name).

Haven't tried the Olive Branch solid, but the shower gel is gorgeous, great classical cologne scent, and wonderful on a freshly showered man. ;-)

This year's description is different from Champagne Snow Flowers, but that doesn't necessarily mean the scent is. I'll have to try the Sakura, thanks!
