I already love Shalimar, so they don't have to work hard to sell it to me, lol. Can I just say that Natalia looks gorgeous, and I can't believe she is a mum of 3, with her flat tum!
Huh. I've got to say as lovely a face as she has, she's too skinny to exude really womanly sensuality. I prefer Eva's (or Sophie Dahl in those Opium ads) curvier shape if these ads want to show naked women. Makes me want to tell Natalia to put the stopper down and eat some more caviar and chocolate.
Oh, I'm very sorry you told me she has 3 children, LOL…my stomach never looked like that even for a day 🙂
She's pretty darned skinny. I thought Sophie Dahl was pretty darned skinny too, maybe I've forgotten.
At the time of the Opium ad, she was much bigger (it was way before she went on the diet that made her as skinny as she is now) – but they shot the campaign so she was side view only, which of course will make anyone look a lot slimmer! But her side profile still gave the impression of more curve than the average couple of models stuck together.
not related but since you occasionally post LE/special edition bottles, you might want to check out Sephora France's website – under Lolita Lempicka there is an LE Baccarat 'L' 50 ml bottle that is just amazing (it's 800 Euros!!)
…helping zippy hijack the thread…
Wow! If I were rich I would totally buy that LL bottle! Combing my love of fine jewelry, which I rarely actually wear, and my love of perfume. AND! One of my birthstones is blue topaz! Oh to be unconcerned with money! '~)
I'll have to go look at it again — and I'll have to keep myself on “side view”, LOL…
Thanks zippy — I will post that!
That's a VERY expensive bottle, LOL…can't imagine being that unconcerned with money, but maybe we'll both get lucky 🙂
I am 5'6″ and weigh about 115. That is a succes, because if I don't eat a lot I'll weigh 99 and that's just so sick. Me and my mom, who is 41 were always wanting to gain weight. I know it sounds weird and people want to lose a few pounds, well I'd love to gain them! I love Beyonce and Mariah Carey and they look very sexy. Not that I am flat, no but I just think that too skinny is just sick and a woman should have curves! I am so happy to weigh 115, sometimes even 116 right after a big dinner. Eva Mendes is gorgeous and very feminine. Natalia looks good because of (sorry fans) the right lights, some adjustments, maybe even surgeries? Maybe I am wrong and it's just her genes, either way they always “fix” the look before the clip comes out.
Well, having a japanese mom who is about the tiniest thing on the planet (under 5 feet tall and not much more than the high 70's weight wise, although she has always been perfectly healthy), I know some people just have the genes and boing back into a perfect shape right after popping out the kids. I think Natalia is quite young? as well, so that probably goes a long ways to explaining the figure – she probably hasn't hit the dreaded 'can't eat everything/anything with no worries anymore' barrier I myself hit in my late 20's. But I always think women like that always have a more gamine sensuality, as opposed to the Evas and Scarletts of the world. It always comes across as a more boyish and innocent rather than carnal.
I just think that Shalimar comes from the time when having that extra few few pounds meant well-being, good financial situation and being able to give birth to healthy children. You know like in the 20s women would marry as soon as they turned 20, sometimes even 18 and their celebrities were at least 20 pounds heavier than today's stars. Shalimar shouldn't lose that special feel of feminity. Since I mentioned her name earlier, I think Mariah Carey would be a perfect model for Shalimar. She is a real diva! She is a real star, the most amazing voice on the planet, very feminine and beautifully curvy. Just in my opinion Shalimar looks better advertised by divas.
IrisNobile, you can have a few of my pounds, of course. And it would be a very rare thing if she was not “touched up” in the film, you're right.
Mariah Carey probably doesn't have the right image for Guerlain though, esp. now that she has her own perfume line — which isn't particularly Guerlain-ish 🙂
Nice ad, very French, simple and subtile!
This ad makes me want to spend the day in bed, just being lazy and do nothing at all.
She has three children? Wow good for her, she still looks wonderful.
To me she is not skinny, merely slender.
Sorry – Mariah = cheap to me. Fruity florals as far as the eye can see. My ideal Shalimar woman? She's a bit too young at the moment but I think Daisy Lowe would be wonderful – she's currently the face of Agent Provocateur and is a *huge* (for a model!) UK size 10-12. Or maybe Salma Hayek? A woman I could go postively gay for ;-D
I pretty much have to agree with Helen. Shalimar just has never said “low cut skin-tight spandex micro-mini” to me.
Maybe it's not so much a skinny issue as a sophistication issue. To me a Shalimar woman – or most Guerlain “women” – would be sexy in a very mature, confident way – svelt or not, youthful or not. I think Shalimar is a thinking woman's sexy – all about the eyes or a small gesture with enormous implications. The moment *before* you're rolling around naked, n'est pas? Is there any current model/actress who can portray sexy gravitas? Clearly this add, which is just fine, is intended to bring in younger women.
Ah, but what the ad is supposed to make you want is a bottle of Shalimar 🙂
Sexy gravitas = Helen Mirren! They probably want someone WAY younger.
Of course they want someone younger….Did you ever see The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover?….
Seriously, isn't the middle part of this ad where she's rolling around in the sheets EXACTLY the same as the Eva Mendes ad? Very weird (the similarity).
Years ago, need to watch it again!
Yep — exact same theme! And everything is in black & white this year, it loses its impact when it's so ubiquitous.
