Caron Les Plus Belles Lavandes ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 April 2008 23 Comments

Les Plus Belles Lavandes de Caron fragranceCaron will launch a new cologne next month: Les plus Belles Lavandes de Caron, inspired by the lavender fields of Provence.

Developed by Caron house perfumer Richard Fraysse, the unisex scent features notes of lavender, creamy vanilla, amber and musk.

Les plus Belles Lavandes de Caron will be available in 100 ml Eau de Cologne refillable spray (1 litre refill bottles will also be sold). (via cosmoty.de) I should note that there was once a variation on Caron Pour Un Homme called Caron Pour Un Homme Les Plus Belles Lavandes, and I don't know how close this new version is to the old one.

Ah, I knew I knew that line from somewhere.. apparantly it used to be the tag-line for their advertising. Pic here: http://i30.tinypic.com/2lw21ir.jpg
They do lavender very well, Pour un Homme is amazing 🙂

Or maybe this is just the scent you mentioned here! All these variations are confusing, no?

No, I think you're right…the sephora description for Pour Un Homme uses the same phrase. And for all I know, it was never a variation…just the phrase got printed on some bottles for some reason?

Either way, shame they didn't use the Pour Un Homme bottle…this looks like the same ugly bottle they used for Reglisse.

Not one for me. Lavender puts me straight to sleep.

Years ago Lancome had a lavender-based body fragrance called Aroma Calm. It was wonderful sprayed after the night shower if one was planning to go to bed.

Speaking of samples…and sorry to go off topic..but I have a list of samples that I want to get…any advice to help me narrow down my list would help.

    AGoutal Eau de Fier

Ava lux Madame X and Shambala Tibet

    CDG Kyoto

    Divine edp L'Inspiratrice

    DK Chaos

    Guerlain Altrape Coeur

    Hilde Soliani Anemone

    Nelli Rodi Scent Fact. Incense

    Parfume Generale Psycotrope

    Hermes Elixir DeMerveilles

    L'Artisan Perfumerie Dzonghka

SL Tuberose Criminelle & Chypre Rouge

Obviously there is a common theme here….incense!

Maybe I should just burn some Nag Champa in my closet (without burning it down) and call it a day. Any advice would be helpgul…Thanks!

It is funny how many people feel that way about lavender…it wakes me up.

You've got some wonderful scents in that list, although I haven't tried some of them (Ava Luxe, Hilde Solani, Psychotrope). Certainly highly recomment Kyoto & Dzongkha, and SL Tubereuse. Eau de Fier is lovely, but isn't it discontinued?

Just curious: why would you want to narrow it down? Why not try them all, if you can get them! I'm trying nearly everything that won't bring up my lunch and having a grand time doing it. In fact, my new spring fling, Miss Rocaille, came from just such a gamble.

    Just a thought…

I agree with Mamabear, have them all exept Elixir des Merveilles – try Eau des Merveilles instead an ad Miss Rocaille to the list.

Hmmm…good question…I don't know if EDF is disctd or not…some websites have samples only. I was going to get 1 or 1.5 ml samples to try these. I may get larger decants of the ones you recommended. Thanks, Robin!

I think she should try both, don't you? Elixir and Eau (like you, I prefer Eau) both have something to offer and her skin may prefer one over the other. I've opened myself up to some really ODD stuff in the past few months (just found out I love Pepper, as in Poive Picquant and Poive Samarcande) and am having a ball!

Try everything that doesn't make you vomit at first sniff~ that's what samples are for!!!

Yes, try both the Elixir and the EaudM. Everything that does not make you vomit, cause a migraine or allergy is worth to try Yogina.

Mamabear what is ODD? Do you mean 'outside the box'?

or do you mean ODO – out of the ordinary?

Oh well, English is a difficult language..;)

I mean outside the box for me! In the past I would only stick with my classics – now I'm trying everything…and spicy pepper scents were a huge oddity for me but I find I love them.

Hope you're having a great evening – we're having a rainy afternoon – it can't decide if it should be warm rain or cold needles. Yikes!

Apologies – I capitalized 'odd' (the word) just for dramatic effect! I forgot to respond to that specific query. Your English is just fine – way better than my Dutch!

Mb. I am going through the same process. Am learning to appreciate and love fragrances that before I joined this blog never would even have been on my radarscreen.

That is all great isn't it!

We had a mild day here. Spring is about to come and stay. You have a wonderful day and evening too and hope that the taxjob will be done soon 😉

Well, it looks like everything will be okay – it will be in my tax man's hands very shortly. I think I will put on some Narcisse Noir and go to the gym!

HAHA! I knew someone would say that. It's like saying do you want the cheesecake or the chocolate cake for dessert…ummm…both please! I was just wondering if any of these made any of you gag…but I have worn (and do wear) perfumes that make people gag…and I don't care. I think I smell yummy!

And you deserve it, for taking care of sick kids. Don't feel bad, I just helped unload Nancy Fishbone of about half of her inventory.

Oh good..that is where I am getting all my samps from. I'm terrified that I'm going to fall in love with one and not be able to get my paws on a bottle of it. Knowing me I'll be hopelessly in love with another one in a month. Good night, everyone!

Me, too! I just confiscated one of my OH's drawers, as mine are all full. He is NOT a happy man…but he'll get over it, LOL!
