Oxbow Essence de Surf fragrancesFrench surf and extreme sports brand Oxbow will open their first US boutiques in 2008, and will launch their debut fragrances under the tag line Essence de Surf in March.

The Oxbow scent for men was created by perfumer Alexis Dadier. The notes feature green citron, mint, cola, cannabis accord, driftwood, mate, hot sand, patchouli, vetiver, moss and white musk. It will be available in 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette…

Sonoma Scent Studio Voile de Violette ~ new fragrance

Sonoma Scent Studio Voile de Violette perfumeSonoma Scent Studio has launched Voile de Violette, an all new fragrance with more violet and less musk than the original Voile de Violette. Described as a "soft non-powdery violet and iris accompanied by woods and musk", Voile de Violette also features notes of rose, cedar, vetiver, violet leaf, tonka bean, hay and myrrh.

Sonoma Scent Studio Voile de Violette is available in 15 and 30 ml Eau de Parfum; samples are also available. (via sonomascentstudio)

Saffron James Le’a, ‘Ume & Punono, Vazquez & Rincon Tropical Breeze ~ new fragrances

The niche line Saffron James has launched with three new fragrances inspired by the exotic flowers of Hawaii:

Le'a, an “olfactory homage to the Plumeria flower”, with notes of pink and white plumeria, pineapple leaf, passionflower and hibiscus.

'Ume, an “olfactory homage to the White Ginger flower”, featuring ginger absolute, waterlily, gardenia, yuzu and oakmoss…

Divine L’Inspiratrice ~ perfume review

Divine L'Inspiratrice

Sometimes a scent translates as visual to me. I see a landscape, or even a particular room or person. Sometimes, though, a fragrance feels like music. Its notes are high-pitched or deep and sonorous. To me, L’Inspiratrice by Divine smells like Debussy’s Clair de Lune heard from outside the concert hall on a warm evening. It is elegant, entrancing, and bohemian, but always civilized.

Perfumer Richard Ibanez created L’Inspiratrice, which was released in late 2006. The Divine website lists L’Inspiratrice’s notes as patchouli, rose, ylang ylang, bergamot, peony, white musk, vetiver, vanilla, and tonka bean. It also purrs with rounded aldehydes that give the scent a decidedly French feel.

L’Inspiratrice contains rose, but it isn’t big and fruity…
