Time to draw breath and be at one with nature…

Posted by Robin on 27 November 2007 6 Comments

Simon Constantine of Lush's sister company, B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, talks about his new fragrances, Breath of God, Inhale & Exhale. Includes some interesting footage of the harvesting of raw materials, including sandalwood, neroli and rose.

Update: this video has been removed from YouTube, sorry!

Hey, but this one was only 4 minutes long! Seriously, get back to work 😉

Thanks for posting this, Robin. It's always nice to read about the back story of perfume-making.

I wonder if those women and men in the video who do the harvesting and preparation of raw materials ever get to know the end result of their labors. Imagine if Simon Constantine returns to their villages and shows them the final product!

    🙂

    Somehow, I doubt it!

Was interested that they showed the harvesting of sandalwood at all, given that it is endangered and some perfumers have called for the use of synthetic substitutes for that reason. I mean, I know it is still widely used, but you'd think Lush would be on the “green” side. Or maybe they're using a sustainable source, who knows.

I always have to wait until I'm home to watch these, and this was worth the wait. The flower harvests were so beautiful – Gypsies picking turkish roses, so romantic too!

Perhaps not so romantic to the Gypsies, no? But I loved whatever it was he said about some poor chap having to split the sandalwood!
