Armani Prive Eclat de Jasmin by Giorgio Armani ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 June 2007 15 Comments

Armani Prive Eclat de Jasmin perfume by Giorgio ArmaniGiorgio Armani has added a 6th fragrance to the Armani Privé line. Éclat de Jasmin joins Bois d'Encens, Eau de Jade, Pierre de Lune, Ambre Soie and Cuir Amethyste:

Éclat de Jasmin was created to represent dawn - the particular time of the day when jasmine flowers are warmed by the sun, releasing their deep, rich scent. Floral scents of rose of bulgary, Egyptian jasmine and plum of damas are perfectly contrasted with the woody strength of patchouli and amber. An intimate and refined chypre accord opens out delicately for the final touch.

Additional notes include citron, bergamot, vetiver. Armani Privé Éclat de Jasmin is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($185); a scented candle is also sold. (quote via giorgioarmanibeauty, additional information via osmoz)

Had extremely high hopes for this one – which is almost always a fatal mistake. I think it's a lovely scent, but I can say that in a very evenly modulated tone of voice w/ a calm smile on my face. For almost $200 (which is what it would be w/ shipping), I want to be speaking enthusiastically and waving my hands. Cale pointed out on MUA that it reminded her a great deal of Ysatis and I think she was right.

LOL — agree that high hopes usually don't work out, especially when you have a long wait before you smell it. I'd say in general none of the Armani Prives have knocked my socks off, although they're all nice. Haven't even managed to smell this one yet myself, but also haven't read anything thrilling so far.

I'm sure 100% this will be signore armani's second best perfume!!! (of course his best is BOIS D'ENCENS) …I know he loves the arabian world! and this jasmin will be the top…

Can I buy these in the UK? I've NEVER seen them anywhere.

They have them in Harrods, and in the Armani boutique in Sloane Street.

Bois d'Encens is my favorite too, I just don't adore it enough to buy…so if this one wants to capture my heart, it will have to be the best, not the second best :-)

I thought it smelled a little like toilet air-freshener – how disappointing! It certainly smelled very uninspiring – you wouldn't really distinguish it from a line-up

Oh thanks, I'm going to London in a few weeks so I will go and see them.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good at all. There is a very favorable review on Perfume Posse today though — so perhaps it is a love it or hate it sort of thing.

are these available in any stores?

I have a Dillards, Macy*s, Nordstrom, Sephora, and Neiman Marcus near me, and I haven't seen this line yet.

Barneys, Saks, and GA boutiques. Or online.

Haha – no, I think it makes sense having just read the review! I should explain: I had a jasmine (and orchid?) toilet freshener happening for a while there. So maybe that's my perspective on “jasmine's natural dirtiness” that March describes? But I did find it more bland than she did – perhaps because I had already smelled in in air-freshener1

All these upmarket sounding air-fresheners, fabric softeners and dishwashing detergents – I don't know whether it's bringing them up to the level of perfume in terms of quality of the smell, or bringing perfumes down!!

So agree on all the upmarket “products”. It was bad enough when anything lemon-y smelled like a cleaner by association, now there are almost no fragrance materials that are out of bounds for laundry or cleaning or air freshening.

I've given up on jasmine, but that's a beautiful bottle.

Agree — they did a lovely job packaging the APs.
