New perfumes: Oscar Bamboo and more on Delices de Cartier

Posted by Robin on 13 January 2006 20 Comments

Oscar Bamboo, the next limited edition fragrance from Oscar de la Renta, will feature lime, cardamom, green tea, bamboo leaves, water lily, vetiver and cedar. Look for it in February. (via Beauty Fashion magazine)

More on Délices de Cartier (see yesterday), which will debut in March at Cartier stores: the fragrance targets women in their 30s, and includes pink, white and yellow jasmine, pink pepper, frozen Morello cherry, Sicilian bergamot, freesia, violet, Tonka beans, amber and sandalwood notes. Targets “women in their 30s,” eh? I'm going to assume this means it does not smell like a scratch-n-sniff sticker or fruit smoothie, which is encouraging.

New cartier does sound more and more appealing. Someone commented yetesrday that the lsit of notes sound like Boucheron Trouble and they kind of do. That's good :-)

Wow, at last a scent that's not designed for girlies-in-pink! Not sure about that 'frozen Morello cherry', though.

That Oscar one sounds promising. Anything with cardamom, tea and water lily is worth trying. The description is filling my head with green thoughts and images.

K, They did make it clear that this is for a younger audience than Baiser du Dragon, so it is presumably somewhere in between fruit smoothie & Baiser ;-)

I am not sure what I think now that the cherry got frozen, but will keep an open mind!

Will have to go look up the notes to Trouble, but this is sounding more up your alley than mine :-)

N, agree wholeheartedly with both points!

Agree, L, but never saw the Oscar Citrus or Oscar Violet from 2005 anywhere, so don't even know where to smell these in person.

Hmm… none of your major department stores were carrying them? They have been all over the place in Canada. I think you can even pick them up at the drugstore.

I didn't care for the violet, but the citrus was nice. Nothing purchase worthy for me.

Maybe they are there and I'm not noticing them? I definitely didn't see them at any of the stores I hit on my last mall trip. The notes for Bamboo are appealing to me so I'll have to ask around.

Targets women in their 30s? Huh? Isn't that the decade of spit-up and Pampers or briefcases and commuting or, God help women like me, BOTH? What's pink jasmine got to do with it?

Call me when you have a frag aimed at perimenopausal power-napping biddies. Nothing pink allowed.

LOL — I think Baiser du Dragon was aimed at the perimenopausal power-napping biddies, a group that I am a proud member of.

Hmm, I am in my 30s (barely hanging onto them), but I like Baiser du Dragon. I also love the occasional power nap.

Would guess that few of my favorites were targeted at my age group, so no reason that anyone who likes it can't wer the Baiser, of course :-)

I work for YSL in Australia, I'm not sure about everywhere else but here we've brought in Oscar bamboo at almost half the price of the last few L.E's – Which is great! Hopefully this is the same everywhere? Anyway i think it's a great interpretation hope you all check it out.

Hey, half the price can't hurt! Hope that will be true in the States as well.

I just received the large bottle of Delices de Cartier from Nieman Marcus. I bought it based only on the description. What a wise choice for my tax refund money! It is absolutely delightful!!! I opened the bottle up to show my fellow co-workers and they all LOVE it. The description is right on, you can pick out each scent suggested in the description. It is delicately sweet, smooth and luscious. I highly suggestion getting a bottle of this, you will love it! I can't wait until the shower gel comes out!

Congrats on your purchase! That is really a gorgeous bottle. I did try the Eau de Toilette very briefly on a test card, and guessing it will end up being too sweet for me personally but haven't yet tried it on skin. Either way, glad you found a fragrance you love!
