Spring ad campaigns: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

Posted by Robin on 28 February 2005 8 Comments

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle adHere is the Spring 2005 ad campaign for Coco Mademoiselle, featuring Kate Moss. It was rumored last year that Chanel was preparing to replace Moss as the face of Coco Mademoiselle, but in the end her contract was renewed. According to Parfumessence, Chanel is introducing a new parfum and body cream for the line. Does anyone know if these are available yet?

And here is the new ad for Vivienne Westwood's third perfume, Anglomania. According to the Newcastle Journal, Anglomania:

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania ad

...marries Asian intensity and British heritage within a deep red glass Chinese phial-like bottle.

The spicy Asian influences of cardamom and coriander are mixed with vibrant green tea and very English scents of rose otto and violet. Base notes are vanilla and amber.

Anglomania was released in the UK last year and is to launch worldwide this spring. If you have smelled it already, please comment!

Don't like the name of that one at all, but it sounds like a nice floriental, and I'd love to try it.

I think Anglomania is the name of one of her clothing lines? The notes sound good to me too, I love cardamom & coriander.

I'd like to try Anglomania but hope that the green tea isn't too strong. I can't seem to carry off fragrances that have a lot of green tea. The spices however sound divine!

Rose and violet, one of my favorite combinations! Thanks for the info!

Her other two fragrances both had viburnum in them, but this one does not have that note listed. I read in the little paper that was included in my box of Libertine that it is her favorite flower scent.

We are the opposite, I am hoping for lots of green tea! At least it is likely to suit at least one of us 🙂

Patti, I got an email from a reader asking for more viburnum scents, and I don't know a single one outside of VWs. Do you know any?

This is in response to an older thread, but I just bought “Anglomania” today and I'm thoroughly captivated. It's exceptionally spicy–but the green tea note mellows it out a bit, after the initial burst of spice dissipates. However, the nutmeg remains peircing right into the drydown.

There is something soothing about nutmeg notes, I think. The spice is there–but it's not dominant enough to feel like needles in the nose.

The violet note gives the slightest nod of powder, enough to calm the beast. The vanilla, amber and rose give it a nostalgic, evening appeal.

It's a powerful scent but I don't find it loud enough to be offensive. It's very “Belle-Du-Jour”; racy enough to raise eyebrows but classy to the core.

If you like these perfumes, you may find “Anglomania” to your satisfaction:

    – “Amour Amour”, Cacharel

    – “Sun,Moon,Stars”, Karl Lagerfield

    – “Obsession night”, “Eternity”, Calvin Klein

    – “Casbah”, a hard to find scent by Caswell-Massey

    – “Beauty”, Elizabeth Arden

Thanks, I haven't tried Anglomania — in fact, never saw it in the US until it appeared at TJ Maxx.
